but of course OP's money making has influence on the whole server he plays on, while a raid doesn't affect other people, so it's more complicated. however, i think crafting and gathering is as reasonable as PvE gameplay and it should not be possible to "play it through"...
There is nothing about a gil cap that is keeping OP from crafting or gathering. The gil limitation is a practical and necessary economic one. And it may be too high already. It's not the same as increasing ilvl from time to time. No one arguing for a gil cap increase here seems to actually address this. Also, "making gil" is not a goal, what that gil is used for is the goal
