Unfortunately some people feel the need to be elitist about the silliest things, best to move on and chalk it up to a petty player.
Funny thing is while a decent/good gaming PC will outperform a PS4, a very large number of players are actually playing this game on a sub $500 bargain PC from Walmart... >.>
This. My raid WHM is a PS4 player, and his tag isnt visible from my PC version (hes from a different server) but when im on my PS4, i can see his tag.
(This applies to same server as well, as I can jump on a free trial account on my PC, and look at my PS4 account, and not see the tag, while seeing the tag on same server PS4 players)
Not sure what this non-sense is about. I play on PS4, yes I can't figure out my numbers, but I have peeps for that, that do not mind.
As far as end game though, I beat first coils and half 2nd coils back on my PS3 (yes w/ SSD though.) Raiding has never been an issue for me on PS4 either (and has been more fun visually at least on PS4.)
Raiding is not solely based around PC, you can easily raid (even w/o FFlogs and parsers) on PS4.
Talking in Discord has never been an issue or any voice chat really. It's why I have my laptop beside me while I play. I know I'm probably the minority in that respect, but yes people do have smart phones and I know a lot of other PS4 players who do use at least their phone to chat in Discord.
So unless it's just people you have just come across who are stubborn that is a very wrong and unnecessary broad general statement about PS4 players.
That is one hell of a presumptuous comment. "PS4 players can't see if they need to improve'? Seriously? High end raiding based around PC? Less likely to use discord?
That's one hell of a comment. I can't even...
I'm a PS4 user - I use discord when it is necessary for content, and if asked. I have my own discord channel and I can pop into others as needed. Perhaps I can't see my damage output..but I know when I'm not contributing much to the raid through my damage numbers on screen. It's almost as if you're suggesting that PS4 users generally don't have any business being in serious end game raiding, in which case, that's a really messed up analysis about 'PS4 players'. Are you sure you're talking about mainly PS4 players? I mean, how would you know - if you play this on PS4, have you checked every single raiders' job crystal for their gamertag, so you know that they are screwing up? Do you ask them when you are on PC if they are a PS4 user (which is just an odd thing to do when trying to figure out damage numbers).
Or did you just come here and post a baseless comment based on maybe a few bad runs in endgame, or because maybe, just maybe, some players didn't want to join a discord and you maybe assumed them to be PS4 users?
So they hate consoles for being anti-consumer and won't support it in any way, so they support FFXIV, which is on consoles.
Fucking kek.
It's a fact that all world first teams are almost exclusively PC players, better performance analisys and communications gives massive advantage in hardest end game content. Note that this has nothing to do with using KB+M or console controller, many PC players switched to PS4 controllers now.
Its funny because they are playing FFXIV which supports consoles. So by that logic they should quit the game because playing FFXIV goes against what they stand for
People entirely miss the point that party leader can setup any rules he wants. If you fnd them stupid or ridiculous, you are at luxury to setup your own party. I find lootmaster 'in order of joining' parties even more stupid, but I don't complain about them on the official forum.
Where did KB+M or console controller come from? Perhaps the world first teams are majority PC players, however, that doesn't mean that PS4 players cannot fight in endgame on their level. I take issue with the comment about PS4 players, we are not disadvantaged because we cannot parse ourselves.
You know, actually, the comment that I was replying to actually answers the OP's thread question, now that I think about it.
While I'm not so sure if there's anything like it on PS4, I know on Xbox One it's possible to get a "Pure Xbox One experience" while using Discord, albeit through a BETA. Clamour, which is a 3rd party app, for Discord. How do I know it exists? I had it on my Windows Phone. If there's one for Xbox One/Windows Phone (which btw, Microsoft have killed off) and shortly for PCs running Windows 10 S (which can't install Discord via the Windows Store), then I'm sure someone could bash something together for PS4. Then even by his standards, it'd be a pure PS4 experience! Yes, Clamour supports voice chat in servers too (not private chats though).
I hear this PS4 is only for people who can't buy gaming PCs comment come up a lot in this type of discussion. I used to play on PC, switched to PS4 so I can sit on the couch and get away from the PC after being on it all day at work. Plus I can get up and walk around with controller in hand while playing on a TV screen big enough for me to read text from across the room. I just wish PS4s had more USB slots so I can keep the keyboard, controller cable, mouse, and external HD plugged in all the time. Anyway it's just a platform, a preference, and each option has pros and cons. But if you are big on metagaming, PS4s are probably not for you.
"consoles are anti-consumer and detrimental to the gaming community as a whole. I won't support them in any way."
I wish he/she expanded on this and hopefully had some thought put into it, as I disagree with the quote. But as it is, it says nothing about parsing, FFlogs, or console player's abilities to perform in FFxiv (which is what a lot of posts here are suggesting). It's very much "PCmasterrace" but it's also very easy to ignore.
It's no different from racism in retrospect. Just another knuckle dragging neanderthal. Just take pleasure in the blissful reality that you'll never reach that frightening level of blatant stupidity. Forget about them and move on with your life.
Goodness only knows that pug probably would have been a shit show anyways. Lets be real here lol.
It only takes 1 person uploading a log to provide all the analysis the team typically needs. The PS4 is equally capable of uploading a video feed for video replays if required as well. The main disparity for world first progression is trigger based callouts but many teams will usually have someone calling key mechanics over voice comms anyhow, not really a problem.
You're still missing out on some details/fps. I've seen it run on a pro. But I also play on a high end desktop so I can't even compare the two in the end. But regardless you're not going to know if you don't see them side by side (I saw my PS4 vs my husbands potato PC, potato PC won, so I got a PC that blew his potato out of the water.). So the point is moot. When I was on the PS4 I got a stable fps (whatever it was since you can't really tell) and it played just fine even with the HD options when they released those options on PS4. But you get alot more options on PC and customization. When I said stable I meant fps and graphic stability, not OS (OS is a side point once you start up a game and generally has little effect on the game unless your windows and you just want to ruin peoples days). Most current OS on any console run just fine for hours on end. You can run pretty much any game active or idle for hours on end, done it on xbox, ps4 and pc XP. On PC I play generally about 10 hours at a time on weekends (idle and active) depending on if I raid. PS4 starts sounding like a jet engine after 3 hours, but I mean, it still runs. So long as you have good airflow, you won't have any problems, if you don't youre going to run into every problem on the planet. My buddy had a PC where FFXIV would always crash, but it was due to poor planning on his part when he built his PC and it had a massive overheating problem.
And man those laptops get insanely loud with games, I can't really blame you.
Some are crazy about bringing down console players and I just don't understand it. Though I really do wish there was an HD texture pack....The giant pixels when you zoom in make me a bit sad. But I also don't mind them not releasing it due to console restrictions. I'd rather more people be able to play this game than less.
That's when you hook your PC up to a TV XP yes, pc purists just cringed at me saying that, but I've done it. It's great for gaming while still maintaining a PC experience.
While PC players may have more tools at their disposal, that doesn't mean PS4 players are any worse. World first teams, usually are comprised of hard core pc mmo/mmorpg players in general, regardless the game you play. That doesn't mean a PS4 player couldn't achieve the same.
Lol they wouldn't know a PS gamer anyway only we can see each others PS ID's ;)
Either way that is super dumb, in a game like this it doesn't even matter it's not a shooter game.
For those saying PS4 version runs crappy? What's crappy? I have both, but my baby PS4 - not pro- is on 24/7 and I've notice no drops or lag. The lag I do see is not from the game but from comcast as they had some isues the last day with an outage in my area. Yes the pro runs it better but and this is me low balling.. I say the difference is 40 to 60? Either or my gameplay on XIV on my baby PS4 is anything but crappy. Mosto f my PC friends I'm talking too are wishing they had my fps and stableness. Then again most people aren't running anything better than apro on their PC says stream so who knows. But that's stream saying that. But that was a year ago I seen that and it might've been hyperbole so who knows. If anyone knows what stream said or meant please help. As I can't remember the details but only the headline I read somewhere. I do wish PS4 could use links in the chatblock tho. - doesn't have any PC so yes.. I'm typing this on controller on my PS4.-
Eh, thats the typical competitive PC mustard race in a nut shell, the same player who's accusing some one else of hacking because they're better than them and oh boy is no one better than yourself at gaming right? zzzz
explanation for the current steam(not stream) survey is that the gtx 750ti is the most used card on the platform, at 14.61% of the people taking part in the survey. this card was very popular in rigs aiming to perform as well or better than the vanilla ps4. budget systems tend to use reliable, affordable cards that don't require a connection to the power supply or a PSU over 350-400 watts. alternatively, they use these things to upgrade a business desktop(good ones for budget gaming can be found on ebay for as low as $100-150) and play from there. the price is close to what the console market demands and the performance is oftentimes great at 1080p depending on what games you want to play.
however, behind it are cards like the gtx 960(14.06%), the 1060(13.41%). these cards are the next step up and require connections to the PSU instead of just drawing power through the motherboard(motherboard slots can channel up to 75 watts currently).
Behind THAT is the gtx 1050 ti(9.90%), which is like the 750 ti but better. since a lot of budget gamers don't buy the new stuff just because it's out, this card might require some time to completely overtake it's predecessor.
behind the 1050ti is the gtx 950(6.03%), a card which I am surprised to see there because it had nothing noteworthy to comment about. I'm guessing it's picked because it's quite affordable.
And then there's others but I just wanted to cover the top 5. the thing is, you have to go through the whole list because just reading the top card tells you next to nothing when there's so many cards that any single one of them has a very low chance of making up even 20% of the survey. and the closest we have right now is a card that was heavily fan-publicized for it's affordability and utility. even THAT only gets 14%.
My husband had a 760 in his potato, and even with lowering some settings and resolution ran fantastically better than a ps4. It's quite impressive it can run so well on such a dated card. But the game was made originally with ps3 support, so it's also not the most surprising at the same time.
40 to 60 fps at lower graphic quality and draw rates.Quote:
For those saying PS4 version runs crappy? What's crappy?
BUT People only say it runs crappy cuz theyve seen it on better graphics and/or on higher fps than 60. If you don't know anything but lower end pc's or the ps4 itself you will never notice this. EVER. It's like how I can't go back to playing it on the PS4 since my PC knocks the PS4 out of the park (I run a 1080ti......). There's nothing wrong with the PS4, but its just something I notice more when playing games on it that bug me enough to push me back to my PC. It's simply personal preference in that regard. It doesnt mean low end PC's or PS4's suck and are detrimental to the FFXIV experience. Not one bit. Unless you were on a PS3... then maybe a little.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n72MTWMPuCg I do wonder if things have improved from this but it IS 3 years old and clients get better over time usually.
Also, I've got a 6700k+1070 now but I'd totally go to bat for super-budget PC's. those things put in really grand work for the money.
Nah, just some edgelord doing their best to rile people up, which they seem to have succeeded in doing since you inquired about their PF and posted this photo.
There were people among the early Ultimate Coil clears that played on PS4, so PS4 as a limitation to a player's capability in the game are very much false. It may not look as good or load as fast as what my PC can do, but it's a very capable system.
Thanks for this!
We finally upgraded him to a 1070+4770S (outdated I know but it still works). Budget pc's are fantastic really, and his technically is considering its on 5 year old hardware that costs next to nothing now.
I stopped playing on the PS4 in February of this year, and I thought it ran great. I've been playing on PS4 since October of '14. Once I got a new PC, I just, I couldn't go back...and I tried.... but I have a 144hz monitor......so uber fps so any dips aren't noticeable.
But aside from cities and big hunts (like 200+ players in an area) It ran fine enough on PS4. But still it was smoother on the 760 which was surprising. You could tell with the graphics of spells and such, healing, fire spells etc. After that I just started noticing the dips more, the unsmooth flow of certain graphics. And I hate being picky about it but seriously, once you notice it you just can't unsee it. But thats not really a performance breaker. Not everyone is into the flashy spells and such. I just like alot of fire.... >.>
The appeal of consoles aren't strictly in their performance.
Stop thinking so one sidedly. While you're listing all of the reasons that consoles are bad, why don't you try listing all of the reasons that consoles are good? You might learn a thing or two.
You all think PC only groups is bad? Play on a Japanese server, even if you speak the language, you're likely not going to get much progression done outside DF.
Do they even realize this gen of consoles is the closest to a PC as it has ever been?
Ignorance of people never fails..
Who cares what system people play on, as long as they are enjoying themselves, lol
I always heard Japanese servers ran different from ours like DF was used for farms and PF was used for clears/learning? I have never been on the servers just what I heard from people.
On the topic of this thread..
I am normally a PC player but I also have a PS4. I prefer PC but recently I had to go PS4 because my processor shit the bed. Other than a few things that only I would be bothered by I don’t see what the big deal is? I mean on PS4 you can’t run a parser or anything but a group also can’t say you have to run one or harass you for DPS so not like that would really matter either. I don’t understand the hate of PS4, and like other have said I don’t know how they would know you weee a PS4 player, when I’m on pc I can’t see the gamertag that I can see when I’m on ps4.
There are three main appeals to consoles.
1 - Exclusive titles
2 - Cheaper than PC's
3 - Plug and play
Other than that there is really... Not much. Don't get me wrong, I played XIV on PS4 from 2014 to August of this year, but after getting my PC (pretty mid-range, GTX1060 + i5) I find it impossible to go back. Playing on the PS4 litteraly gives me headaches due to all the framerate jumps and feel unresponsive now. There is a BIG difference between playing at a higher framerate (my setup can push well over 100 with unlocked framerate), but if you never experienced both versions, the PS4 will look fine to you.
I've seen examples of what say mentioned - people saying they can't join voice comm because they are on PS4, but it's not really that common. I've also been a raider since Final Coil, and was part of a speedkill team - the only PS4 player on that team - back during Creator. These things happen. PS4 players are perfectly capable of doing all content, but a ton of high end players are on PC simply because it offers better tools (between parsing and tools to reduce your ping) and performance (completely customizable graphics and possibility of achieving incredibly low response times) in multiplatfom games.
I didnt played ff 14 on pc so i cant compare either, however i played many games on my laptop with gtx 980m inside (what a total crap believe me) and to be honest comparing the games i played to that game on that console really stand for expectations, its really well written both on console and pc. For me the game just gives enough options to play it on console, i could trade these extra features for the convenience of use, dont care about dps or stuff like that numbers, i play a tank anyway. :P
When i was talking about PS OS i had in mind that the fps stays the same all the time, no matter the playtime i got in the game, its really solid and keeps all resources focused on the game, not like W10 (creators update) when it was trashing itself over and had to restart the game or the system itself in order to keep those FPS high, its not a problem on console.
second part below
I remember when i first installed the creators update, and it ruined v-sync entirely in every game i played, locking the fps on 59, then dropping to 30 fps for some weird reason. When i wrote about the problem on microsoft forums, the admin respond and told their team in charge of a "game mode" (really? they have a special team to make a mode pure for gaming and they never noticed that giant flaw?!) didnt notice that glitch and they are going to fix that in the future, that made me lost all the hope for the microsoft, i had to dissable few things on regedit, because there was no other way to fix it.
That just shown how incredibly incompetent is microsft when it comes to optimizing their system for gaming, and even the new xbox one x is trashing its memory so some games runs slower and slower within more time of playing, FF 15 is the best example of it.
