Hopes for the 4.2 Glamour System Revisions

They need to add a wardrobe system that after you have looted a piece of gear, the template is immediately saved to your character indefinitely and you can discard/sell the piece of gear you just looted if you don't need to equip it. There are already quite a few F2P mmos on the market that already have this type of transmog/glamour/cosmetic system, there isn't any reason for FFXIV not to implement something similiar. This would massively alleviate many many MANY inventory and storage issues. It's really gotten out of hand with all the new glamour items and outfits that came with the new expansion and it's only going to get worse as time goes on. Please do this.

My dream would be for a glamour log. This would compel me to do old content just to collect all the things.

Dye channels for sure. I've come across too many items that I'd love to wear, but for the restricted dye area. Brown leather with colored highlights is still Brown leather. I know I hope with poor chances...

If we do get a glamour log, I do hope it is more than just a glorified list. Some sort of organised UI layout would also be welcome. Perhaps some sort of collection or set completion incentive, even if it is a shiny check mark for completing a set. An extra incentive, for completing a set, would also be an interesting idea.

Oh, and hints to where to obtain set pieces, similar to the Orchestrion List hints, would be helpful.

Alt friendly features would be nice too.

They dashed any hopes of alts sharing anything when they changed vet rewards to per character calculated

I just hope it's good, that's all.

Basically, you get a new item and you unlocked it in your transmog collection, you can then toss the item away.
There's a transmog vender in the city and you can just select whatever appearance you want on what slots (if you have said appearance unlocked ofc).
Also you could save sets.

System like that would be nice and solve the inventory chizzle.

As much as I would welcome the addition of a glamour log, I hope it doesn't become the only way to glamour something. Reason being that I have a lot of standard pieces that I keep handy for making glamours and some of them are dyed rare and/or expensive colours. Ideally the glamour log can handle this too (consume a dye for a specific item to unlock that colour for that item in the log forever maybe?) but if not, I will want to keep those actual items around.

It has to be a glamour log of some kind. Nothing else will address inventory issues except letting us dump this endless collection of stuff we might want to glamour one day. I mean, full props to the art team for making so much nice looking stuff! But that's the only real fix.

I don't expect that to be the only change, but that's the only one I (and my overstuffed bags) care about.

Having a glamour log account wide would save a lot of server space though, so I can keep a little hope... (it’s not gonna happen) I

Yesss, please! They even did this in XI - the only requirement being that you cannot use a piece of gear for glamour that you could not equip normally. It works out really well, and it adds so much to the glamour options.

It does kind of suck for leveling, though, as your transmog is undone about 6 times per level unless dungeon-grinding and unlucky in doing so. I've heard plenty of players in the WoW forums, too, begging for to-slot, rather than to-item, transmogrification mostly for that reason.

And that really should not be the case given that there are still significant disadvantages for playing all jobs on one character and this game invites at least a slightly higher than normal percentage of role-players, who would then basically need those extra characters to provide the variance of created perspectives or personas they're looking for. And yet I'm very hard pressed to think of game that is both as alt-unfriendly and all-in-one-unfriendly, especially given this game's massive inventory toll, as XIV.

Though I don't really mind WoW's transmog system being to a piece of gear, I agree that to-slot would be best. Something like Rift or WildStar's costuming system is ideal.

There is only two things I want from the new glamour system - a glamour log (or hell I would even take a housing item) and to tie glamours to your gearsets as gearsets already remember which vanity you assigned to it (you can check this yourself quite easily in-game right now - change your glamour and do not reassign the gearset and re-equip it and it will come up saying your glamour has changed but it selected the gear still).

Another thing on my glamour wishlist is that I hope they allow more materials to be used to make prisms (assuming they keep the prisms). Unlike prisms that aren't goldsmith or leather, all of the other prism materials have a npc merchant option. Toad leather is in high demand (with a higher price), while all the other types of leather (pieste and raptor, for example) is sitting around on the market board, collecting dust.

The prism recipe should allow the original material to be replaced with a different material of equal or higher item level. There are plenty of materials on the market board, with little to no demand. It all could at least be used for making prisms, especially if new system causes the demand for prisms to increase.

I want class gearsets. I dont want my WAR looking like my PLD lol. being i can only have 1 set of armor between them. Unless i have both sets of 340 gear..

Whatever it ends up being, I'd prefer it if glamour was tied to gearset rather than class/job or character, as e.g. I have 4 different MNK gearsets with a different appearance and purpose.

Slightly unrelated note, I hope we get 999 stacks in 4.2

Think of how much more user friendly things would be if we had
1. A glamour log
2. A "material bag"/separate inventory for mats

i have several requests for Glam update....
- Possibility to dye separate parts of a single item
- No more gender lock
- Armoury but for glams.. so you can have multiple glams for the same job... (and a menu to switch bewteen sets like star trek online)
- No more class lock (i want my ff xiii gunblade on my MCH)
- Bigger FC logo on some clothes and items...like survival shirt and shields...
- A glam slot for eyeglasses.. so we can have a hat and eyeglasses at the same time
- Some basic level 1 clothes (shirt, trunks, skirt)
- Be able to be barefoot

I'm also interested in how these "revisions" will affect the market. I'd imagine the demand for certain materials would skyrocket under the right circumstances. Hopefully that would cause the demand to become actually some semblance of stable.

Would also be nice if some wandering community rep could give us some tidbits of info on this topic. Even the tiniest of tidbits would do. :)

Removing the class restrictions from the DoH/DoL gear.


I just want the Lv 50 Weaver coat.

Removing all glamour restrictions to non combat classes. I don't remember seeing any opposition to crafters and such glamouring whatever they want.

I'm just waiting for them to open up the other inventory slots on our bags I mean the slots are there per se but you just can't use them.

I noticed the date for the next Live Letter was just announced. Hopefully they'll touch on the improvements that they have planned.

The biggest thing I want is being able to wear anything I want on any job regardless of what it is, and to be able to have different glamours between jobs sharing the same gear sets.

Of course, I wouldn't mind if the entire Live Letter was devoted to glamour and inventory improvements. Yoshi-P did state that it would take an hour to explain everything related to it.

If they unlocked the DoH gear, I may finally get off my lazy arse and farm some scrips for that miner top. I leveled the job to 70 JUST FOR THE BODY, but I can't be bothered with it at the moment as I rarely ever use my miner..

I just want to thank everyone who is supporting unlocking DOL/DOH glam restriction. If they can't do it for level 70 DOL/DOH gear they should at least let lift it for the 50 and 60 gear. But hopefully just for all. It's not like looking like a botanist would confuse anyone in a dungeon/pvp.

Can't say there'd be much, if any, harm in that.

I mean, I don't mind the idea of looking a bit more like your own class in the armor department, but... some of these <x job-only> armor sets don't look any more like <x job> than several others...

The entire system of glamour could do with some upgrading, revolving around a few key points

1) Appearance. There's really not that much in the game that makes people go "O.O DUDE!". No special effects, no bulky-ish armor for melee classes. Just... "well that guy is dressed today". We could do with stuff that adds more flash and pizazz

2) Gear sets. SMN, BLM, and RDM all share the same gear, however, if you apply the glamour of a RDM, when you swap over to your BLM set, it will not be able to display and just render the original appearance the gear had. This is not okay... One could either remove just the class requirements from glamour usage (NOT the gear itself), or make it so that we could preserve glamour sets for each class. There is no reason why a samurai and a monk MUST share the same appearance. They don't even share the same culture (Meiji era sword user vs Tibetan/Buddhist martial artist)

I'd definitely take GW2's style over WoW.

While both have an appearance log for unlocking the appearance once you've obtained the item, WoW's extra requirement of needing to talk with a specific NPC in one of a few specific areas or spend a pretty penny to get a mount with a specific NPC on it to actually access the switching of gear appearance makes the actual process of glamouring/transmogging/etc more annoying and take more time.

Also, whichever dummy over there changed it so you can only hide your helm by transmogging it to be a hidden slot needs to change it back. Something easy to access for that...I dunno, maybe on the character window somewhere? :rolleyes:

Not to mention that the identity of a job is quite readily apparent via both the weapon and the animations of abilities. Throw heavy armor style on a Black Mage and they are still going to look like a Black Mage casting stuff.
