Smalls are far too, well, small. Excuse me for wanting at least a medium so I can actually decorate more than two rooms and not have to force things into small corners. Regardless, FC restrictions like that are pointless since people will have alts ready to go.

Lol! I think if I looked at it from the WOL's perspective I'd be pissed. I have a fc plot in gridania. I have saved gridania from gahruda, king mog, ramhu, and odin countless times. I have helped almost every citizen with one problem or another. Prevented multiple calamities from bahamut to king thordin to the warriors of darkness literally trying to destroy the universe. Agreed. And if not 1 house per account, at least let there be endless housing options so people aren't fighting for features in the game that should be available to everyone (with the gil).

Small and medium free for all, large houses limited to one per FC. There shouldn't be situations where one FC has 3-4 large houses amongst their members.
And of course, large houses locked to FC with at least 4 members only.
Other than that, I can't think of much that wouldn't be going overboard (paying rent lolpls).

This as i've and many others stated many times. some people like my self were on low pop servers where 100's of houses were empty up to the point SE decide they got enough cash from people transfering to balmug and decided to spread everyone out with free transfers.. we owned our homes for years with no one complaining till Se's poor transfer system spread the housing problem to low pop servers. If they just made 4 new servers and sent free transfer there.they could of just fixed the high n med pop servers who had housing issues now its every where.

The people who really get me are the ones who left houses to move to balmug payed $18 to go to a place that had no homes..only to take a free ride back and now say omg take away there houses i dont have one now lol.

Ad 20 more wards to each city then do this

Just make all apartments have the same interior as the houses . you can buy a s/m/l or buy a small and down the road upgrade to med or large. small has 2 floors like normal med the normal 3 floors and large the 3 massive floors add a balcony that looks out into genric scenery depending on where u pick to live ,mist ocean lav beds trees n so on... give balconys items limits like yards...make all apartments zone in from maijor citys to not just zones and offer transfer for apartments so they can change there balcony scenery..

As for gardens n workshops... take the sobs out of houses period / or add to all along with...
Put gardening and workshops in your GC squad door...the higher rank you are the more garden plots you have access to and the more airships..as well as housing glam schimatics.. no need to have these locked to houses or FC the airships bring back crafting material people not in fc can use..if airships only brought back items say such as rare buff making materil i can see it but time to unlock these two from houses

People seem to forget theres 2 subscriptions not just one. Just like any thing the more you pay the more rights you have.. which is why they cant make it a account based system not all accounts are the same

So - if I create a 1 man FC I can get a Large - what an exploit you have proposed. Look at the number of FC,s that are single person ones, it's easy to get an FC - heck you can buy them for 20-50mil with a house!!!

Just how many times does it have to be repeated? Stop bringing money into this discussion because it won't work in your favor.

First and foremost, you're paying 15$ a month, while the other sub is 13$. You're paying 2$ more and indeed have more rights - the right to create multiple characters on 1 server and to have more characters in total. That's it. That's what the difference between entry level sub and standard sub is and you are clearly informed what is it exactly that you're paying those 2$ for when you choose your subscription tier. Any other rights that you claim you should have are pure entitlement and nothing else.

Second, if you really can't grasp the obvious and still want to argue that just because you're paying a higher monthly subscription all characters you create should have the same rights as a single character of a player that is paying the lower one lets approach the issue in a logical manner. The minimum monthly cost of a single character with full rights is 13$. If we assume that you spend 13$ on your first (or main) character, then you only spend 2$ on all your alts combined. If we assume that you spent an equal amount of money on each of your characters, then with 3 characters you'd only spend 5$ on each of them. Why would they all have the same rights as characters people spend 13$ on? Pay 13$ per month per character.

Third, as far as money is concerned, from the business point of view you, owning 3 houses and paying 15$ a month will never have more value as a customer than 2 people that are paying combined 26$ and could instead own 2 out of your 3 houses. Even if you were to quit the game over this entire issue, 3 other people would take over your 3 plots, paying a combined monthly sub of 39$. All of this based on an assumption that there are no people paying the exact same sub as you do among those affected by the housing crisis. Which I find highly unlikely. Your way of thinking is that of a whale in a F2P cash shop based MMO. Which FFXIV isn't.

Seriously, stop brining money into this debate. You're hurting your own case.

You do realise that the primary reason why SE introduced free server transfers to spread playerbase more evenly across servers wasn't to reduce numbers on high population servers, but to improve numbers on low population servers? Those that people kept proclaiming dead, asking about server merges every 2 or 3 Live Letters? Adding 4 new servers would just contribute to the problem they were trying to deal with.

And stop with this Balmung shit. Not even the entire NA revolves around Balmung and Gilgamesh, and it has no bearing on EU or JP. And yet the housing issues being discussed exist across all 3 markets.

So in addition to having that obnoxious I pay more than you attitude you're also suffering from reading comprehension problems? I never said that paying more means nothing. In fact, I said something quite opposite - that paying more means you have more rights. Those rights you gain are listed right there when you choose your subscription - the right to create multiple characters on 1 server and the right to have more characters in total. It should be obvious that within those constraints all characters you create can do everything current rules allow them to. What is among the most hotly discussed topics here however is whether what current rules allow is fine or not.

Oh, and I'm going to continue going for your throat (I believe that is what you meant?) as I please, as long as you keep stating your own opinions as facts and as long as things you post have as many holes in them as premium quality swiss cheese. I believe I'm absolutely within my rights to do that. Whether you like it or not.

You sound like a broken record with this I broke no rules, I followed the rules approach. Here is the thing though - I'm not arguing that you broke any rules by buying your plots. I agree that you didn't. In fact, majority of people discussing the issue isn't arguing that either. What a lot of players providing feedback (myself included) is arguing however is that current rules are insufficient and should be changed. As it has been pointed out to you before - it would be within rights for SE to apply new rules retroactively, we practically gave them the right to do that when we registered our accounts. I just happen to think they should do it that way if any changes to those rules are to have any proper impact.

However, if you try to argue that you paying a higher subscription should be a reason why current rules must stay as they are or why changes mustn't be applied to you - well, I already covered that in my previous post.

When Balmung and Gilgamesh were put on lock down, so were 4 JP servers: Bahamut, Chocobo, Mandragora, Shinryu. JP has its own system of congested/standard/preferred worlds, so does EU. Transfer incentives are the same across all 3 markets. What exactly does Balmung have to do with EU and JP, pray tell?

And why the hell are you even brining forced log offs up? They had nothing to do with Balmung either. Servers was suffering from ridiculously long queue times caused log in server bottlenecks and players that avoided being automatically logged out while away from the game for prolonged periods of time. Forced log offs were implemented to help with that, not to scare people away from Balmung.

I know Balmung is the stereotypical hive of scum and villainy, but blaming it for anything here just doesn't make sense.

As for your those ideas of yours - to be fair they're nothing new, concepts like these have been posted here multiple times and debated ad nauesum already, but let me get to them.

Adding 20 new wards is just unlikely to happen and unlikely to be feasible in the first place. I don't like those server limitations they use as excuse as much as the next person, but that doesn't magically cause them to cease their existence. Should SE work towards overcoming those limitations or limiting their influence over game development? Absolutely. But it's not something they can deal with easily or in short time perspective. Plus, adding more wards right now, without changing the rules regarding limits of plots per account per server first is just pointless.

As for the expanded apartments however - apartments in FFXIV have always been a system I couldn't wrap my head around. SE built the entire foundation for instanced housing system only to reduce it to a set of FC private chambers that don't require players to join FCs. Personally I'd be quite satisfied with a fully fledged instanced housing system, especially if balconies were to be part of the same instance as the rest of your apartment. This is something I noticed about Kugane inn room compared to all other inn rooms - it has a window that you can see scenery through and it makes it look so much better. However, there are several problems with instanced housing.

First, the playerbase seems to be split on the idea. Some players consider wards a superior system and wouldn't be happy with an alternative instanced housing could provide. And there are quite a few that have spoken directly against instanced housing as a step back in housing system development for this game.

Second, it's unclear whether instanced housing would solve the matter of server limitations which remains the main obstacle for this game's housing system.

Third, SE don't seem to be keen on the concept of instanced housing at all, as demonstrated by what apartments have been reduced too. What is the reason for that I don't know. I imagine it's possible they simply believe wards are a vastly superior concept. Or instanced housing doesn't solve any of the problems they're struggling with already. Either way, I'm not sure the general feedback regarding instanced housing is strong enough to convince them.

And finally, a proper, fully fledged instanced housing system would take time to develop. Likely far beyond the time perspective of 4.2. With the shitshow of a state housing is right now after 4.1 certain solutions need to come sooner than that.

Try a person participating in a discussion on a matter of interest. Or a person providing criticism towards views and ideas that are being shared. Maybe a person supporting his or her own views on the matter of interest. As much as you'd like to label me as a troll I'm not one. Don't blame your fragile ego, poor arguments or inability to defend your views on other people being trolls.

You also don't seem to understand what playerbase feedback is if you think that providing criticism and voicing opinion isn't part of it. But just for you, I've compiled a list of my views and opinions on the matters regarding housing that I have presented by posting here. Just in case you may want to bring my post history up again in the future. A bold move to undermined my credibility by the way, for someone whose goal in posting is primarily to remind everyone that he's paying a higher sub, has never broken any rules and will consider himself punished if SE does anything in regards to housing system rules that doesn't align with his wishes.

• I'm in favor introducing a limit of 1 plot per account per server.
• I'm in favor of such a change having retroactive effect in order for it to have proper impact.
• I claim that SE are within their rights to change rules and make changes retroactively effective based on documents accepted by all registered players.
• I believe SE should approach the matter with the needs of many outweighing needs of a few mindset for reasons I've specified in my posts.

Furthermore, beyond the matter of rules and changes to them:

• I strongly disagree with the idea that some players being more deserving to own houses on the basis of their devotion to decorating or anything else.
• I believe that owning a house shouldn't be an achievement by itself and owning a house doesn't have anything to do with the notion of earning something due to the current housing system being a lottery more than anything else.
• I'm in favor of instanced housing but recognize issues such a concept has. I also recognize that SE are likely not interested in such a solution.
• It is my opinion that regardless of any major housing system overhauls changes to improve housing availability are needed in 4.2 at the latest.
• I retain the right to dispute points and claims made by other users that I don't agree with in order to provide sufficient counter-feedback.
• I remain committed to calling people out on their bullshit and pointing out falsehoods and misinterpretations.

That is no where near my main goal. as ive stated im against 1 house per account, when there are 2 account types. I am against the idea of taking away items obtained by following the rules yes. i never said Se wasn't allowed to change there rules i know the tso states they may change the rules at any time. and persoaly belive Se should look at this based on the account types they sell being that theres 2

The benefits of a higher sub are there already, no need to feel entitled to more because you add a few extra euro's to it. Under that pretext regular mogstation clients should also feel entitled to more or the ones who have more retainers as they provide more funds to SE as well.

Now, I do not think that a house should be limited to one account, I am thinking from an RP PoV now where every character is a different persona. One may opt to be a wanderer with no roof above his/her head but at the same time there are some who wish to be a restaurant owner with the appropriate interior while there are some persona who suit a cozy house more... and then there are of course the ones who prefer a castle!

Let the prestige of a house remain, open some new wards but let a house still be something that gives something special to an owner or FC. Rather introduce a way to prevent house snatching at the start, add an open auction of a week where gill is the only criteria to obtain one. Then add a system where you can trade house rights or have the option of a caretaker who can prevent the demolishing action when you plan to go on an extended holiday. (you can set a timer on the caretaker, hell I wouldn't even mind to see this appear in the mogstation)

If they take my 1 medium house, they will lose 4x accounts. Only reason I stay is because I enjoy playing with my home.

I honestly don't understand the logic behind "Large/Medium should be FC only". The logic being.... what? That you need more space because...more people? There isn't some arbitrary limit to how many people can fit in any size housing and how often do most FC's have so many people in the house that a small would feel like not enough room? Honestly..?

Airships get no extra benefits from being on a larger estate. You can argue gardens but let us be entirely honest here. How many FC's allow their members free reign of the gardens? How many actually split the profits with their members? All members? Not many, especially not large ones. I have personally never been in an FC that didn't just share the spoils among a select few while the rest might as well have not existed. As well, how many FC's allow their members to help decorate? From my experience, only one or maybe a small group of people are generally allowed to do that.

So tell me again why medium/large homes should be restricted to FC's only...? Why should only the select, 'elite' few who own an FC be able to have access to 3 gardening plots when you know darn well that 90% of those people won't share them? And be able to decorate a larger space that they won't allow others to help with (or that no one will decorate and it will remain pretty barren because FC leader doesn't want to do it and no member wants to put in the gil and hard work when you have little control over what happens with the house in the future)? This is a great way to make people leave FC's and make their own, though.

Probably going to have people getting angry over this post, but honestly. Really. How many FC's actually share these features with everyone?

If you have the money, you should be able to buy the house, imo. I do, however, think there is a problem with how lacking the availability is. WHY are there so few mediums/larges when those are the most desirable? This needs to be adjusted. Or give an instanced housing option. Make apartments better. Larger. Open to FC's. Complete with FC rooms and an airship + gardening. Ughhhh, why SE. WHY.

Honestly, I think those who are crying, "Medium and Large FC ONLY." are just trying to stir the pot so to speak. Everyone of these people who have said it have had little to no good reasoning behind the statement.

People are still forgetting that money, and FCs not able to purchase medium/large arent the issue.

The biggest issue is that Square Enix NEVER MAKES LIKE 100 WARDS TO 200 WARDS EVERY EXPANSION.

If there were 100 wards in Heavensward and 100 wards in Stormblood, I REALLY doubt that housing flippers overcharging and people would feel this upset about not able to purchase a plot whether it'd be one per account or whatever.

I am somewhat reminded of the game The Sims Online when they added rent to houses. It upset a lot of people because every time you took a couple of days off the game you then had to spend hours slowly making and selling gnomes to pay the rent and not getting to enjoy the rest of the game and many people quit because of that.

My company isn't very big, we're always scraping for more active members since our server pop is small with people constantly disappearing every couple of weeks and many other competing companies are also clawing for more members. Hell we even struggle to find enough people sometimes to build our projects. Adding rent at 500k a month would destroy us and we would have to give up and relinquish our house and all its progress we put into it the past 3 months would've been for nothing.

However the idea might not be so bad if rent was added on a second house if you owned more than one house per server/account. That would certainly deter players from trying to monopolize entire wards to resell. In the end you don't want to be penalizing the players who just want a little place of their own, but penalize the ones who are taking advantage or being too greedy and not respecting the fact that houses are a limited resource in the game and are not just for them to hoard like collector's dolls.

Treat it as a proper limited resource like with retainers. You want the privilege of owning more than one to yourself? you gotta pay extra for it. It gives more money to SE from players who are quite happy in owning more than one house for their own personal use, it doesn't affect players who already own a single plot to themselves, and it discourages purchasing of multiple houses by people who just want to resell them for profit.

They all ready do that. Its called the Account option #2 where you can have up to 8 Characters as opposed to account option #1 where you are only allowed 1 Character.....

Rent will not deter house flippers, it is only going to impact honest players. All the flipper would do is either sell it before rent is due or pay the rent and up their asking price. Meanwhile folks that just own one home suddenly need to divert gil from other projects into keeping their house. Sure I've got plenty of gil in the bank but not everyone does. When I bought my first plot I went bankrupt buying the land, the permit, and the furnishings. I would have lost it in a week if there had been rent. Quite a few players like that i am betting.

I still say the best way to curb flippers is a random resale timer 1 to 7 days after releasing a plot it will randomly be put up for sale.. Fc sellers im not sure how to stop that since its just a handing over the lead thing...

But they need to add some kinda activy thing to fc's other then the 45 days cause i know 2 fc's on Coeurl right now holding large houses one the main is on faerie one the main is on mathus.. there just holding the plots

@Mikki my FC is working on garden plots to make flying chairs for whoever wants one. The airships bring back materia and that’s distributed to the members and we have thavarian onions for any chocobo that needs one. :) Just letting you know those FCs do exist. ;)

We already pay a monthly subscription without breaks in between, that's enough for rent I would say.

So even if its minor "maintenance" without any serious benefits (aside from the privilege of owning a house), I see no point to it as the rent would be nothing but tedious. Besides, what are they going to charge us for, aether usage? Next time I need to fend off a primal I'll send them the bill then for my transportation costs, and an hourly rate!

I'm not personally attacking you but this is not a good idea. Reason being, people like me hit gil cap long ago, believe it or not within 5 months of 2.0 in beta. I could afford this for a few earth years. It is nothing for an individual like myself to market manipulate, which is a game in and of itself and make the people I chose to profit, and the individuals I chose to bankruptcy.... I would be ok with $6/6month sub, or $1-2/month extra if it meant SE could afford housing for all. I hate saying I would pay more, but I would only do it if, 1 personal house per account all players on account can share, one FC house master per account per server with the promise of no cross server market board ever. No more of this I have 8 fc's on my account per server, I can understand having people as a different FC members, but not the "house" master role as it prevents the gil-mill cartels from continuing. FYI, 1/2 the reason I left famfrit. And went back to Hyperion. But player housing is the biggest cost for them server wise in game. I understand cut proffit to make player base sustainable, but there is only so far a dollar goes.
When Montreal expanded, the hardware they leased and took over was SSD drive only. If you have any data center knowledge, you know SSD drive storage was not cheap at all. I know LA was a cost +. How long before they let content take a hit?

Again there is 2 account types. Account option 2 offers you 8 characters.There not selling 1 Main and 7 alts.. If there gonna change this rule they need to completely over haul there accounts, ...Thats like sayng those who pay extra for retainers are no longer allowed to sell on them cause its "Not fair" those who don't pay extra can only sell 40 items wile some people sell 160 items..

Being on a server that didn't have housing issues before the free transfers yes i have a differnt opinion.

And again before my forum stalker says anything.i know tso says they can change the rules at any time lol

And if they wanna save money how about they cut there promotion budget lol painting a buliding for storm blood release paying $100,000's was kinda a waste for what 2 days or 3

Housing and retainers are a bad comparison for the simple reason that when you pay for extra retainers the system auto-magically generates them for you and there is no limit to the amount of retainers the system can support. If the system could just auto-magically generate houses on demand with no limit then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Also, paying the higher sub fee allows us to have multiple characters per server but it doesn't allow us to skirt any actual account limitations besides that one. Thus if the rules on housing change to 1 per server, the higher sub fee still allows us to create those characters...they just have to share the house. Not an ideal soulution but until housing stops being so incredibly limited a paractical one.

Not by any means ideal..The kicker is the people wanting to make it retro and as you know our server for years was fine on houses hense why we have a few people with more then one mostly for rp purposes cause we had no house flippers (other then the ones who snagged a large here or there). If they don't make it reto fine but its silly to take away from people who did nothing wrong.

SE was doing so good with the PF/RF. I stand by the problem was SE Greed with allowing so many people to pay to transfer into worlds locked from creating a character till they it the point oh *&%$ theres to many people here the q's are hours long.Thats when they spread the housing problem to every single server

Trust me, I wasn't thrilled to discover my small town server had developed the big city server housing issue (especially since I haven't seen any perks or increased activity elsewhere on the server). I now have to warn folks I am inviting that they will have to camp wards for a chance at a house.

But I still think the one house per server thing will happen until they figure out how to solve the issue properly. Now that the crisis is on every server they can't turn a blind eye anymore but they're still going to do everything they can to stall a real fix for as long as possible. This is one of those things sadly.
