I agree that the current system is bad.
1. Drops should not be going to waste. System needs to be fixed in a way that items do not get tossed in garbage.
2. Totem/Nut items should have much higher drop rate than weapons. Chances are, by the time I get 10/20 totem/nut I will already have all the weapons I want anyway, unless my party always gives me all the nuts, which is unlikely because everyone wants the totem/nut too.
3. Actually the addition of totem/nut under current circumstances only makes things worse because now there is a chance to get a nut instead of a weapon. At least before when I got a rare drop it was a weapon. Now when I get a rare drop it could possibly be only 1/10th or 1/20th of a weapon ...
Imo, ideal system would be something like 100% drop of the totem/nut item, but takes more of them to get a weapon, like maybe 30-40. Also keep the rare drop of a weapon right away from the chest. This way if you still didn't get a weapon after 30-40 tries, you can fall back on your totem/nuts. You feel like you are getting somewhere even if it takes a long time. Unlike current system, where you feel like you are just wasting your time and effort.
