This won't surprise me, SE would do such a thing & milk out FFXIV without improving it when it comes to animation/graphic issues.

Let's see how Yoshida will do, he didn't even bother to fix how SMN's egis look even at Lv.70 so I don't expect any good out of him after all that.

I'm ok with the "shitty" animations since they have to adapt them for every hardware, but a HD textures pack should be a MUST since it was promised bac on 2.0.

They already have the HD textures so it should be easy to implement.


I guess the only downside for them is that the textures weights more than the game itself, and that's a lot to download. I say make it optional and maybe put it in the mogstation (yeah, I'm against to "mogstation everything" yet I understand the cost of a huge download like this).

I think you are wrong in what i marked, there are MMOs that have HQ movement animation & they are doing fine, no issues with better movement animation so what you said above is like telling SE "don't improve it's good now b/c of hardware issues" even though it's not true.

Just don't say things that stop this game from getting better & that's what we all want.

Anyways I'll be cancelling my sub with FFXIV in the end of this month if our feedback is not valued by them & no positive reply from reps.

It also depends how they handle development. If they start better quality before axing it to meet requirements... the work was already done.

Devs are always working with the HD textures.
For example, the WHM AF High-Quality textures do exist already like any other textures ingame, because designers work with HQ textures at start. When they end the design, they have to compress it into low-Q textures so it can weight less, but the HD texture still exist with the same scale.

It wouldn't be a huge extra work, just copy/paste the HD textures or rename them to switch between normal and HD.

I thought the whole reason why they ditched the PS3 is so FFXIV can improve. Seeing the textures during the cutscenes made me feel like I was playing a PS1 game. If the rumours are true and SE is thinking of bringing FFXIV to the Switch, then I think all hopes for a graphic improvement is gone.

Yes please, and if own system can handle it I see no problems with it either, it is not like the server has to load hi-res, that is client side.

Hate to necro post a 6 month old thread, but this has been bothering me for months now. I've worked in AAA game development for a long time, I know they have the assets, just let us use them! Every time I see Hein in-game his outfit just looks horrible, like it was made for the PS2 era.

Would love this. Some of the mismatched textures are pretty jarring to me.

I whole heatedly agree with this. It'd be nice to see it as an option, especially seeing as how more and more PCs are able to handle higher resolutions. Plus with dx9 support going the way of the dodo, why not? I mean I have a 1440p monitor and man does this start to show it's graphical flaws. Also note that a lot of the in game textures are like what 512x512 or something of that nature?

Honestly though, this game looks incredibly dated due to the bad textures. I'm actually embarassed for SE when I go to show screenshots to my friends. I feel like I have to make excuses for why it looks so bad...

Um, no.

High res textures is mostly on VRAM. My GPU usage is around 60% and VRAM around 60% as well, loads of more space to add high res textures.
My GPU is around 55 degrees C while running this game, if I run a game that puts my GPU usage to 100% (FF 15 for that matter) it stays at 55 degrees C (with the help of dynamic fan curve).

Loading times are also pretty much instant, FF 15 loads in just over 10 seconds, that's not long at all. SDD's can be pretty fast, M.2 is even faster.
I played 15 also on my PS4 back at launch in 2016 and loading times where between 20 to 30 seconds which are acceptable (and that's on a traditional HDD even).


Something seems severely wrong with your hardware, maybe try to dust it out first? Even my PS4 cannot fry an egg.

We ask very often and its the same old song and dance. They ignore the questions or answer them in a way that relates to FPS instead of what we actually want. I understand FPS is major aspect to many but so is graphical qualities! There is absolutely no reason why they dont have extra options for people who can take advantage of them. Maybe during interviews there is a miss translation but I really doubt it. Hopefully one day they will add in many more options for the graphic side of the game. All we can do is keep bringing it up and call them out on it.

Hi-res textures hardly affects FPS when you have enough VRAM, because that's all it takes, VRAM.

I still think we should have an option with hi-ress textures!

I know im jsut saying what happens anytime a grahpical update/texture question is brought up. They always bring up and talk about FPS instead, it gets annoying sometimes.

That is probably why! (lol) and they are still punishing us for the 1k flower pot fisaco of 1.0. Seems thats people who dont care about graphics go to everytime we ask for better options. WE GET IT, 1.0 HAD UNGODLY GRAPHICS THAT A REGULAR COMPUTER (at that time) COULDNT HANDLE. Stop holding it over our heads FFS!

#serverlimitations is getting a bit old. I actually see them making a Switch version for the sole reason of being able to say #switchlimitations.

Servers are not rendering or storing textures. This happens by the GPU on your local PC. A server is not streaming the game the PC/Console handles the graphics. Server limitations has nothing to do with it.
It's a policy limitation or some unwillingness to deal with the textures right now for the dev team for various reasons.

WE totaly need it,the game look way too old,even FF12 on Ps2 had better texture,and dont bring me your "not good for performance ble ble ble" a lot of game have great graphic,and pc can handle it,so yeah make it optional for those who can run it.

With all the EXTRA income SE is now going to get on top of what they already get, isnt it time to give back to us? We should really start hounding them about more graphical updates every chance we get. If they are going to keep charging us for simple ingame functions, then we should expect them to deliver on things we have been requesting since 2.0 launch! Maybe we should come together and protest for features and functions we want and not let them sidestep us or try to change the question or spin it differently to what originally was ask!

Agreed. The texture in this game is terrible and it wouldn't hurt for an optional texture pack. Hopefully it'll be offered to PS4 users too ;)
