Weapon aside, what do you think of the reworked diadem?

I just hate that you do your missions then after that....FATEs? Why can't there be events where we gotta defend against Sky Pirates? Or go on their ships and loot them while defeating mini bosses?

I swear if I see the FATE "Excited Boys" i'll throw myself off the highest mountain, I swear that FATE is taunting you with what the hype could have been "You EXCITED bois!!??" I was, not anymore. I honestly just sit there after the mission to see if any boss FATEs will pop up which are few and in between, only 2 NMs FATEs per Diadem if you're lucky, nor are you guaranteed a minion per boss FATE either.

Its still boring like hell. On Top of it things get locked behind the objektives that take pretty long + its just another thing with an annoying fate grind.

Diadem is just a failed project for me.

Diadem 1.0: fail.
Diadem 2.0: fail.

Zero creativity, just the same mindless grind of crap we've done hundreds of times already.

I like the exploratory emergancy mission. That was cool. Unfornately people can easily screw it up and then your done until it pops up again. And with that 280 being thrown in, people are salty enough to purposefully wipe the raid. As for diadem itself, over all a marked improvement over the old diadem especially in the gathering aspect. I also liked how some of the fate mobs had some light mechanics thrown in.

My thoughts: Hey look, it's FATEs and Hunts again! . . . Oh. It's FATEs and Hunts again.

I really don't know what ppl were expecting, this was promoted as a farming ground so that should have been the expectation, what I see are ppl that complain about it beign boring, maybe that's not their cup of tea. It's actually annoyong see ppl calling this lazy when there have been huge improvements on the place on it's gameplay and the technical side of the enemy behaviors.

In fairness, yes, being able to travel without accidentally pulling a whole island is nice, the aetherial gap thing is. . . interesting, but in the end, you're FATE/Hunt Mark grinding for Accursed Hoard sacs for Tokens for gear/mats, in hopes that that ONE INTERESTING NEW THING happens and maybe people coordinate enough to finish it for that 1% chance at something that might be really awesome for your given job. . .

What's really annoying is people who accept any kind of nonsense and excuses that developers throw at us every now and then. Some call them whiteknights and you're free to be one. Thing is, this content IS indeed boring and you will see it very quickly once initial wave of players test it out and decide to never bother again. Hell - any dungeon is this game is more exciting and has better environment and mobs design. I've done 2 runs, and at this point I'd do literally anything but Diadem. There is a reason why so many people are disappointed in this. It's not about the grind, because this game has always been about grinding. People are used to it. Thing is - this grind is tedious, has absolutely nothing exciting outside of emergency mission and on top of that - it can yield weapon better than anything else available in the game so far. Worth mentioning is the fact that chance for it is astronomically small, which will reduce tremendously in less than a week or two, any motivation of getting said weapon that people may have today. You can be sure that this Diadem will die the same way original Diadem did. Mark my words.

You say about huge improvements but I genuinely see none outside of the fact that you don't need to unlock flying now, and the fact that you can deaggro mobs (it can and does lead to some serious trolling, but that's a different story). It's literally the same bunch of non-interesting (visual wise) islands with annoying dummy-type mobs (now tied to fates - wow, such HUGE improvement), with some really poor rewards. It can't be use to level up, it's not efficient to farm it for tomes. Only reason seem to be trying to get that 280 weapon (unless for some reason you want to farm materia, that already pluments in price) and this as everyone knows - may never happen. In that case - what's the point at all of this nonsense ?

I'd like to remind you dear whiteknight, that this content took more than a year to revamp and it's hard for me to believe that this is the best that SE can come up with. It's only slighty better than original Diadem, yet has been hyped as REVAMP. Just like a11s jumping on airship mechanic was called "never seen in any other mmo". I mean seriously - w/e - if you enjoy this content so much go and play the living hell out of it. Make sure that you squeeze out that sub fee value and play it for hours and hours until your brain melts. Those who defends this lazy design, deserve to get content like this and play it indefinitely.

Whelp, I was hoping all the hate was unjustified, that it was the people that still get a kick from "item level" hype or new players bummed out by sudden "invalidation" of their glamour relics.

As soon as the mission objective completed the group dispersed to check out the zone, two minutes later there were 5 then 4 then just the three I left behind. So here we are, again. What happened? I don't think the devs understand what went wrong with the last, did they really think the main problem was lack of direction that they needed to add fates everywhere? It feels like a leveling zone.

This iteration is worst than its predecessor, and whats this explore theme, explore what exactly? This zone is kinda ugly, sea of clouds would of made a more interesting setting. I could dig an exploratory theme but you gotta make it trippy, flying around to get to land masses can't be the climax, and since we are in the advent of airship technology why not.. you know.. throw in a friggin.. yeah.

Anyhow for me the worst part is how it moves the one zone that was supposed to bring community into endgame further away from purpose, don't see why I should even have the option to enter with my airships anymore. It makes me think the prob is really with developer culture, it brings me back to what was said regarding what they wanted the Diadem to be and how 1st and 2nd gen mmo elements were considered... sorry but the old guys did it better ! This genre has truly lost its roots, now its all about what worked for the other guys, and guess what, I like potatoes but when I eat them everyday I throw up.

- I've noted that 'Corrupted Sprites' have a chance of spawning after each successful fate, regardless of whether or not it involved a damage field. Killing one awards you a treasure coffer.
- 'Baby Brachiosaurus' occasionally spawn in the southwestern island. I witnessed a group kill one, which IMMEDIATELY spawned a fate I hadn't seen before, 'Slaughter of the Lost Legend', where you had to kill 4 of them in a 5 minute period. The group I saw failed that since there weren't enough people around, so I didn't get to see what happened for clearing it. (I did note from a separate run that the island is exactly where the adult Brachiosaur boss FATE spawns too...)

There is no way to make a discussion with this premise. Also I didn't said ooooh the zone is perfect the best thing yet I've said a huge improvement which it is and tells you that my opinion of the earlier version was not that great, one can appreciate something while also see theflaws and by the way I'm not too happy about the weapons in there either and to tell you the truth I'm not enticed in them either because the whole RNG is stacked against me so high that doesn't make me want to get them.
So I'm not whiteknigthing anything I'm just saying that there were some huge improvements that could also be applied to the game outside if you what to udnerstand what I'm talking about go there and watch the difference in the zone between night and day, if not be my guest anyone can do whatever you want

I wish they had the old diadem loot system, with the boss fates and the mini-raid with the new diadem. *remembers the raging when people would roll on 210 gear they didn't even have a class leveled for* Uh... maybe not. I have always liked the diadem, but I am also part of the small community that loves chocobo racing, triple triad, and pvp. Verminion was fun too, but that died. :I

Day and night cycle influences enemy spawns and as such fate spawns
Predator-type enemy do predate on wildlife (t-rexes attacks triceratops which are docile mobs now, also purple worm is described as a monster eating anything and he attacks anything on sight)
Buried treasure are still a thing and can award completed lockboxes and damaged ones they are rolled though
Lastly I saw a giant pegasus running around and despawning dunno yet what he does however

Rather dull with occasional highlights describes Diadem best. FATE grinding among the worst mechanic the devs insist on perpetuating despite vocal disdain from the community. Although Diadem attempts to offer some objective based missions, they boil down to killing trash mobs and farming fates. The only real standout is the unique super boss. Unfortunately, it gets bogged down by the near inability to coordinate with 71 other players. Should just one of them mess up and pull early, you're screwed. Sad to say, but I suspect Diadem won't let for more than a couple weeks if even that.

I've been having fun with it even though it's really frustrating to get the groups to focus on stuff after objectives are done. I don't think I'll have much to do after I get my pegasus though, I already had enough spoils for the minion and I'm at 77/99 now.

I think I did bring much more than you - pointing out what I find to be bad in this new superb content that you're trying to defend so much. You brought absoluty nothing outside of claiming that Diadem got some HUGE improvements. I'd like to know what those huge improvements are.

I've always been supporting it and I can totally see improvements if they're made. I did appreciate how they improved Alexander. I did appreciate how they improved anima questline - giving you more freedom (compared to ARR relic). I did appreciate little things like wondrous tails. I did appreciate countless quality of life changes.

If you want to actually argue, then please use quotations and point out what you disagree with. As stated before, I can bet my 1 bilion gil, that this content will be dead in less than a month.

Point I've made about weapons wasn't made to simply cry about itemlevel. I actually don't care about it that much. Thing is - said weapon is THE ONLY real reason u'd want to grind this content. There is literally nothing else unless you count a mount (that some, including me got ages ago) and 3 minions total. You are whiteknighting indeed - as you jump on anyone who dare to dislike said content - just because you don't find it bad. If this content is so fantastic, why you even bother reading these threads and "getting annoyed", instead of actually trying to get that emergency mission to pop ?

Honestly, don't even bother replying if you have nothing solid to say.

Fate-grinding in a special area to get stacks of stuff to do PotD randomized turn-ins, or if you get lucky, go kill a boss and pray for a minion. It's horrendously boring if you don't get emergency mission or boss fates to kill after finishing objectives.

Indeed no reason to continue, as you clearly have absolutely nothing solid to say and ignore all valid points me and others have made. I guess it's because it's hard to argue with the facts and those are :

- Diadem 2.0 is basically Diadem 1.0 but with mobs tied to FATE's and a whooping ONE special event, that may as a matter of fact never pop for you.
- Mobs are the same boring mobs from old Diadem, with 1-2 attacks and annoying aoes that you constantly have to dodge as melee. Hunt mobs from open world can be more complexed than those in Diadem. For any raider, those are nothing but dummies with an aoe.
- Design of entire place is lacking and lazy copy paste of islands and trees. I mean come on, just walk in any dungeon, 24 man or a raid and tell me that Diadem is good.
- Rewards are just meh. Materia became worthless at this point and minions that drop in diadem will reach absolute bottom in its price this week anyway. Else it's just 280 weapon. Nuff said.
- It took them over a year to introduce this. It also has been delayed and hyped as a serious revamp. Seeing how they did successfully improved many aspects of the game, some would believe that Diadem will actually become fun.
- Overall gameplay is just really shallow and has absolutely nothing exciting in it. Advertised as exploration, it actually is nothing but 3 simple quests and fate grinding afterwards. The fact that on day 1, people already camp in the base waiting for emergency mission to pop says a lot.

On a sidenote, you missed the very obvious irony in words like "fantastic" that I did use on purpose. Have fun in diadem.

There are things I like about it. I couldn't call it more boring than say... normal 4-player dungeons. It's a nice change from other content; good to have options. It's impossible to please everybody with all the variables that go into design like difficulty, amount of freedom, types of rewards, size and length of duty.

The emergency missions are a huge mess. Its almost like the enemies do not de-aggro/reset or something. Someone went and pulled the dogs in the middle to troll while everyone else was fighting on the outer platforms. They dragged the dogs over to where people were fighting and it caused a huge wipe. When people would respawn they would run back in to instantly die. Eventually we got everyone to wait but the second we entered back in it was a pure slaughter all over again. It feels like some sort of faulty design but I'm not sure. I'm all for difficult content but when someone can wipe everyone for laughs and the instance not reset then i'm totally out. It makes me wonder why we do not have a public test server to give feedback but instead have to deal with this.

Honestly, had this come out as intended 9 days ago it would probably be dead content by this point in time (outside of gathering/fishing). Once you get past the controversy of a i280 weapon, the content itself has very little to offer. Wasn't this supposed to be a revamp of sorts? Yet instead of grinding down ranked mobs for loot, you're instead grinding down FATES for tokens to trade for loot PoTD-style. The exploration element is practically non-existent, which becomes apparent once you do the objectives. Kind of a shame that this is how HW is gonna go out at this rate leading into 4.0. Diadem, tagged as one of the flagship features of this expansion, has wound up being nothing more than a disappointment.

I don't care about the weapon, but the actual diadem is extremely boring. There could have been so many ways to make it fun, but fates and monster grinding is not one of them. After the weapon craze this will be dead content again.

Edit: however I do like how the t-rex eats the triceratops, and some mobs patrol areas. It gives an "alive" feeling to the world seeing monsters attack each other.

I didn't do the first Diadem because I quit during Gordias with my main. Now I gave it a try and I'm very surprised. I thought it was going to be a grindfest, boring and mind numbing. I was right. I don't like it. I'll just get the Pegasus I didn't get before and the minions, then I'll stop doing it. I don't even care about the ilvl 280 weapon, since I already have Alex on farm and there's not much to do anymore till the expansion.

Just noticed the changes (been away for a while). I never really went to diadem other than with FC. Is there any way to join thru Ishgard without being part of a full party?

I already got wind up pegasus, full sized mount pegasus, the baby dino, and the hunting hawk last night. All the major rewards of the place, minus the weapon I really don't care about, barely even 12 hours after the content was released.

SE clearly missed a trick with Diadem. This was nothing more than a desperate attempt to bring the player base back to dead content. But like any quick fix it will die pretty quick, especially once Stormblood is released.

Personally I think one way to make Diadem constantly relevant, with a healthy player base, is to make it a zone for exclusive and unique vanity items (weapon/armour glamours, mounts, minions, housing items, TT cards). So instead of 280 weapons and other gear drops, just make every drop one of these vanity items. Some of these items could be untradable and therefore hard to find (for those who want to work towards something and have something to show for it) where as others could be sold on the market board as another means of earning gil, very much like the Night Pegasus mount. With a new expansion very close stocking up on gil and providing a new fun way of doing this would be a good way of spending my time before Stormblood hits.

SE could even add weather seasons to Diadem, that rotate every few months or so. Each season could be aligned to a particular element (Summer would be Fire for example) and during that season all the vanity items that drop would be related to that particular element (Fire themed mounts, minions, etc) Then once the season changes so would the types of items aligned to it (In Winter Ice themed mounts and what not would then drop) This would help give players a reason to keep returning to Diadem for each season as they rotate, and thus allowing for the content to stay active.

Perhaps I'm mistaken of course, but considering how big glamour and vanity items are in this game, I feel it's a sure fast way to keep any content relevant.

Emergency Mission needs to spawn more often. Ran it 7-8 times and only seen it spawn once and we wipe in 1 min or so. Not spawning enough isn't helping people to actually learn how to do it. Forget the weapon, I just want to actually do the fight.

It's thought that fate completion triggers emergancy fates. It seems to pop for me when we have parties clearing fates, and doesn't pop at all when most parties are afk parties, but I don't know if it's for sure.

You can buy a voucher at the Ishgard Airship landing which is used to to queue for a diadem group. The NPC's that do this are located by the spoils vendor booth.

I'm just going to try to get my mount and minion from spoils before everyone realizes spamming ARF is more fun than Diadem.

It is incredibly boring - the only good thing that I've seen from there is the big Brachiosaurus fate. Still haven't seen the Emergency Mission yet, not that it matters because 80% of people leave after the objectives are complete anyways. It may rarely drop the best weapon in the game but even so I'm getting my minions and mount and never touching it again.

This new diadem is just an excuse for people to get lucky with a weapon. I wouldn't even call it new.... it is literally diadem with fates. If the EM pops people fail it and leave. If it doesn't pop people still leave. It's boring.

Thinking about it more, had they included Proto Ultima styled mini bosses scattered throughout Diadem alongside FATEs and make Emergency Missions (yes, multiple) spawn more frequently. Those little changes would make it far more interesting. On the more elaborate style, they could have pulled inspiration from 1.0 and attempted dynamic FATEs and us defending strongholds or trying to retake sections of the map. If it proved popular, the devs have something to improve upon for Stormblood. What irks me more than any silly 280 weapon is the hollow state Diadem's in after a supposedly overhaul. Further salt was rubbed on the proverbial wound when Yoshi commented we should just "enjoy content." I want to. Believe me, I want to have more content outside trials and raids. FATEs in their current iteration are simply boring.

I like Diadem. o/ Feel like I'm the only one that does though, lol. ^^; I like Fate grinding. I like the easter-egg-hunt missions and hunting for treasure boxes/corrupted sprites. Sometimes if I get a party of people I like (90% of the time I don't because people are dickbags) I'll continue exploring and doing Fates with them once we finish. Other times I'll just go and gather after we finish the objectives.

I think the problem is it's content purely dependent on the people you run it with. Sometimes it's a lot of fun when you get a chill group, most of the time it sucks because you get impatient idiots that think they're owed something for putting their time into it. :/

Ya, but this is the result of people not doing what they claimed they wanted. Explore. No one is exploring, as you said, they either AFK at the shop or leave as soon as they complete the known objectives. Yet the hints are there, there is an ecosystem, there are mobs that fight one another, there are tips showcasing the prey predator system and that maybe focusing on certain mobs will lead to other FATEs spawning. Yet this level of competence and testing can only occur with actually FC that are willing to camp in one location, focus on certain FATEs see if they lead to any new chains and go from there.

Here's a FATE I doubt people know about that seems to lead to a rather troubling mini-boss. On the same island with the FATE "On the Inside" there is a spot which you can only reach through a wind tunnel. The FATE is the same, a bunch of unicorns, however there is a time when the Pegasus will spawn with them and the FATE name will be different.

My guess is this FATE spawns when the untargetable Pegasus is Active on the NE island and you successfully complete that FATE. Yet sadly it's hard to get people to test it out, but if the triggers are true, then what other FATEs are hidden and waiting to be revealed? No one explores the caves, or even attempts to farm both caves, they get ignored even though you can't enter those until you complete the 3 objectives, so odds are there are more to those caves than we know. But again, that's what exploring is about, people see FATEs and think "oh same ole same ole" and yet there's a reason they have different icons, why they grow stronger, why mobs actually fight one another. They are telling a story and it's up to the playerbase to explore and see what they can uncover through the clues left by the Devs.
