They really screwed up on this one. Doesn't even have his own instance lol
"The First 24-Man Trial"
So like, did they actually say this somewhere? If so, total false advertising.
If not... wow, hypetrain really got carried away on that somewhere along the line huh?
this thread is officially fakenews
They DID say that we would experience the fight from fanfest, and from what it shows, this is not taking place at Azis Lla, nor is this an improvement over what they did for trials before. This is shoehorning the guy into a raid that doesn't make sense.
I can understand the dissapointment, given that many other trial battles have been tweaked or improved upon in standard play. This is a demotion for Pultima, reducing him to a trash mob.
Wait, so did they effectively just split dun scaith???
I mean if I don't want to unlock it, I can't go into it with people that have??
Wait, no. They did what. They just added this in to Dun Scaith. Tell me this is a lie.
Am I being trolled by this thread?
Nope. Proto Ultima got put in Dun Scaith. Simple no trolling.
I'm at work and the main page really didn't update to anything so let me just get this cleared up. I unlock the question, I run Dun Scaith and instead of the Succubus I get Proto-Ultima that lets me get a token to exchange for an iLV270 accessory once a week?
They never said it was a trial to begin with.
What they did say was that it wouldn't be like Odin (a standalone trial/instance) but would be added in a different way. With that said, having it reduced to a direct trash boss replacement is a shame, since the issue with Odin was that the reward was essentially glamour (when people were hoping for i130 drops at the time), not that it was a separate instance.
They could have at least replaced a raid boss with it and made it challenging. Replacing trash with it completely boggles my mind.
This reminds of the game "Final Fantasy 15" by SE.
Now I know why they didn't want to tell us where to find it lol. Easy way to upgrade my other classes. Kill two birds with one stone lol
Many people hated the succubus trash (and let's face it, I've seen 3 wipes in a row to it personally with not much to be done about it).
Bad thing about Proto-Ultima: People are supposed to still pass DS without much of a hassle so difficulty is laughable.
Good thing about Proto-Ultima: Couldn't expect it to be hard anyway. Besides, it has some more evident dps check so if people in DS are that bad so not to pass it they get slapped.
It was never outright stated, seems like it was more implied:

"Experience the fierce battle with Proto Ultima originally seen at Fan Festival 2016 in Las Vegas!"
Which, at said fanfest, WAS in fact a unique 24m trial.

So, while they never definitively stated it as a trial according to the interviews I checked per se, it was definitely hinted very heavily at.
I haven't been on the forums long...everyone usually get this doom and gloomy around patch time?
While the forums aren't COMPLETELY about complaining about content, there's still plenty of that to go around. Folks are far more likely to rant about something they hate than gush about something they love, particularly on the General Discussion forum.
That said, there's plenty of reasonable discourse, as well.
Yet provides no source(s) of such. Good job.
All SE stated was that you'll get to face P-Ultima in the patch, as 24-man content. While it was natural for players to assume it would be a standalone instance, SE never advertised it as such. The fact Odin was brought up and how they weren't going to go that route was an indication:
In the end, what happened with P-Ultima is what was advertised: A 24-man fight in a new place (compared to Fanfest, which was at Azys La).Quote:
Famitsu: At Fan Fest we enjoyed the 24-man Proto-Ultima fight. Was it created solely for the event?
Yoshida: We plan to implement it in a patch for those who were unable to attend Fan Fest. You might want to look forward to how you access the fight.
Famitsu: Will we be able to play it in-game?
Yoshida: Yes, the release schedule will be similar to the Odin trial. Since that trial was stand-alone it led to the problem of people no longer queuing for it as time went on. We’ve taken a lesson from that and we’ve put Proto-Ultima in a new place, so please look forward to where it’ll be.
Famitsu: Will it still be a 24-man fight?
Yoshida: Yes.

This fight was awesome! I really liked fighting him again. But why people complain? ): It was really fun to me and a lot i know.
I did it in Dun Scaith after getting the quest in Idyllshire, and you have a set of gears you can buy with the reward you obtained to complete the quest. Love the chest one for tank!
People complain because they're disappointed. Most of those complaining were in groups who had decent DPS which allowed them to skip pretty much every mechanic, making Proto a glorified striking dummy.
It was lame, sorry.
I hope we can see a hardmode of the 24 dungeons, would be fun.
More or less sums it up. I even did it on Dark Knight, which is roughly 257-260 and purposely stood right on the proximity aoe. It did 7k and the two that follow combined for 10k. That is barely half my health, and no I didn't even have Grit up. The only way PU doesn't roll over in under two minutes is if you have utterly abysmal DPS.
The whole thing about Proto-Ultima looks unfinished. Its just looks like a huge middle finger for all FFXIV-players. I dont really get it.
What made it so hard, that SE decided to change Proto-Ultima from a 24-man trial into a simple trash-mob to Dun Scaith. It was playable during the fan festival.
Proto-Ultima should not be in Dun Scaith. It doesnt make any sense. I m still wondering, why its there. What was wrong with the Succubus?
Additionally, why is there only the body piece and some accessoirs (with crappy second stats)? Why no boots, helmet and gauntlets?
PLEASE SE! FIX PROTO-ULTIMA!
Well accessories definitely have brought some variety into BiS builds as compared to what they were before along with the relic. And no, stats are not 'crappy' for almost everything, in fact i'm surprized aiming ring has crit at all.
Tank ring tho...
Major source of disappointment was that by now I only did P-Ultima as a dps (both caster and melee) and it's extremely easy. As in, regular Ultima used to be much harder with dodging, knockback, orbs soaking and whatnot. Here you don't really have to dodge anything major and dps, slidecast for a couple of GCDs at most and from what I've seen even if you don't dodge AOEs you won't die. I barely play any casters so the fact I find P-Ultima annoying at exactly pretty much any trash pack level means it's free dps time, tanking and healing is trivial, also. It IS a trash fight in 24m raid.
