Firstly, I agree. RMT groups and greedy individuals - or even just individuals with a specific purpose, would just as easily have ranked up an FC on an alt to get extra houses. Even if they added a restriction to 1 house per FC, and only 1 personally owned FC per account; Someone would buy numerous accounts to get around this. But ya know what? Without going too off topic, what is your opinion of airships or the company workshop? That's "content being blocked" in a sense if you don't have an active FC. I've gotten around this by my family making alts (we all play on the same server) and leveling up our own personal FC (not to rub it in, truly) but would this be the next thing to pop up as a demand to fix?

Actually it's part of the 'content being blocked' that I'm referring to!

I am the 'Leader' of a FC on Sarg (I don't think of it as my personal FC, because I'm not the only one in it. All our members contribute to the FC and make it what it is). We have 6-7 regular active members, and another 15 who are a bit more casual. We're a rank 8 FC, and we do get the buffs. But with out a house, you don't get a company workshop, and you don't get airships and exploratory missions. We all had been in FCs which had far too many people with regard to the number of individuals who can access said content at a time. We all had been far too late, and far too removed from the upper echelons of said FCs, to get access.

If that wasn't the case, we could all just go join an FC that has these things already right? Except 99% of the time those facilities are blocked to the mass population of an FC. The founding few, or friends and favored - get access and control. Its not just the company workshop and exploratory missions, its also gardening, and the works!

Fixing this so all FCs can have a house, makes it so that players aren't forced into larger FCs and/or to deal with pre-established groups; while new and smaller FCs can utilize those facilities (i.e. Company Workshop, Airships, Gardens). Private homes don't get some of those things, which is EXACTLY why I feel FC housing is far more important than private housing.

And I, for one, would also like to experience BUILDING the airships and the FC - not just joining in 3 years later to everything being done already.

I don't know. It almost seems like you want all the benefits of being on a low pop server while also enjoying the high pop server benefits. You can't have both and IMO you shouldn't ask that the game be fundamentally changed to suit that. Best of luck to you. Personally I can't be on board with this.

So I assume that you 100% completely disagree with the cross-world party finder? Cuz that's giving low-pop servers the benefits of high-pop servers via fundamentally changing the nature of the game with regard to individual/segregated servers, in order to do so.

I demand all the benefits that come with my subscription; Housing included. I can't be on board with someone who thinks otherwise, or who fancies themselves more deserving than others. But I do thank you for your opinion.

Its not an entirely different thing. Don't like the low pop on your server? Can never find anyone to party? "Boohoo. Transfer to another server or roll an alt or whatever!" These were your words!

Its the same exact thing. People aren't able to access content because player population is too low on their server. So SE is implementing the Cross-World Party Finder features to alleviate that problem, so that players don't have to roll alts on different servers or pay for a transfer. Those players are also "included with their subscription....on a different server."

You seem to be very tunneled into your own personal opinion (like me, admittedly), though your opinion seems to simply be disregarding everyone else and trying to argue every point I've made. You are not thinking objectively about the issue, and are contradicting yourself several times over.

And you're wrong. I'll continue to support this topic until it is resolved. Not just for me, but for everyone. After all, I started this topic. Our FC getting a plot isnt going to make it disappear.

You used a pretty poor argument to try to say it's not fair. I'm not going to explain why, but suffice to say that it's clear it's coming from someone who doesn't actually participate in housing.

Yes, it's not fair. It's also not my problem. Ask Square Enix to provide more housing to you if you really want one. That's what you're paying them for, isn't it?

Well you are partially correct and partially not correct. Yes I do not currently participate in plot-based housing, though I have an apartment. I also was in an FC previously that had a medium and I got to do plenty with it. However, the leader of that FC and several of our members did not get along. So we moved into our own FC and lost the housing. That was an exception too, because I've been in several FCs with housing where I was not allowed any part of it other than to donate gil and purchase private chambers.

My argument is absolutely perfect - you have a hold on 3 houses. 3 of them. There are plenty of people and FCs who do not have one at all. Are you the reason for this? No, of course not. However, its still not fair. And regardless of any reason why you think you should get to have 3 houses all to yourself, whether it be gil farming (by using missions and gardening in all three houses), putting on plays for the community, whatever - there is nothing someone who get's to experience housing in its entirety can say, to validate what you just said. There is nothing about housing that makes it ok for you to have 3, while others have none. There is nothing you know about housing that I do not.

While your garden plots are maturing at all 3 houses, you're not even there. If you are, you are only at 1 of them at one time. This applies to any mechanic that comes with housing. Even if 3 individual players are all having a party at each of your 3 houses... YOU are only in one of them at a time.

So please, do explain it. Because those of us that do not understand that which you refuse to explain, are exactly the ones that are voicing our opinions and our concerns in this thread.

Though you voiced yourself in this thread, which was - believe it or not - explicitly created so that SE would hear us! So you're not telling me to do anything that I'm not already doing.

Maybe you don't like being pointed out for having 3 houses, but then again you're the one that decided to say so in a thread explicitly created to voice concerns about the unfair housing system.

It shouldn't surprise you at all.

They are paying for extra characters, so they should have the same restrictions as the main character. Nerfing in any sort of way is not the solution, SE fixing the issue and creating more houses is the solution.

See, you're saying it's not fair because I can only be at one house at a time. But that implies that it's not fair for me to have a house if I choose not to be at it at all. That's ridiculous. It's totally fair for me to not be at my house, and most people who have houses are, indeed, not at their house.

With entry level subscriptions you get 1 char per server, for a total of 8; In this case they are only consuming a single plot on a single server at a time, even if they own 3.

Its usually greed. They garden in multiple plots at once, send multiple airships out at once, at all 3 houses, to maximize return. And I don't feel there WOULD be anything wrong with that if SE made it possible for everyone to do the same thing. Not everyone will have that kinda gil off the bat, not everyone will have that kind of time to dedicate to the features. So there'd still be people who are more 'baller' than others. There's no reason to let people be locked out of this.

Some people pay for numerous accounts, but most aren't paying extra at all. Extra chars are simply included with their subscription.

No, its not ridiculous. You see, the head-butt between our opinions right now, is that you are taking what I said personally. I did not imply that you shouldn't have a house if you choose not to be at it at all (though if you are never there, why DO you have one? That'd be inactive, and SE will eventually demolish your house for that. Obviously you won't sit in it all day...). I'm actually saying nothing of the sort.

Honestly think once you have a house for a bit you might look back on this thread and realize it's way overblown. As a FC I do think there needs to be a solution and the only one I can think of is instanced housing. As an individual who wants to garden you can probably find a player that will lend their garden to you (I do this regularly). Workshop stuff, well. That's a tough one if you aren't part of a generous FC. As far as this and every other "housing needs to be fixed" thread it's turned into a have and have not's battle. With that, again I wish you the best of luck. Housing is fun!

If you choose not to be at it at all, SE will demolish it after some time, and make it available. You are free to do what you want within your own restrictions. I never once said what you are saying I said. I even explained it in more detail for you in my 'finished' follow up post.

What IS unfair though, is that you have 3 of them, while others have no option of even having one. What makes me even more upset about it, is that you can't even fully appreciate all 3 houses at a single time, because your singular avatar is only capable of being actively played INSIDE OF ONE AT A TIME.

I never said you should have to give up your other 2 houses, but I do feel strongly that you should. However, there's nothing implemented to force you to do so. So do what you will.

I just can't understand where you are coming from. The point of this is to point out the unfair aspect. The point of feature requests and complaints is specific to have and have not arguments. Its the entire point of this forum, and the areas specifically dedicated to this type of talk.

I didn't log into the game, invite you to chat, and start complaining to you. I started a thread in the appropriate channel - and you attacked it. There is a chance that I'm misreading what you're saying in your last post - if so I do apologize, but I need to defend my opinion and my character.

I will continue to support this thread, that includes ensuring I comment on your degrading remark about what this thread really is. And naturally I won't be as stressed out for myself after I finally have a plot for our FC - but I still won't give up until the issue is alleviated for all or this thread dies.

If people stop posting to this thread, then so be it. But I urge anyone who agrees with me to voice their concern to SE. And don't let anybody's opinion stop you!

No they won't because all I have to do is enter my house once every 45 days. I'm still not using it, though. I'm keeping it just to keep it. If I can do this with one house, then why does having three change it? I'm not using one, I'm not using three. The only difference is that I have three and not one. You most certainly have not read everything I've disclosed in this thread - and you certainly don't have to either.

However, you are assuming yet again what my argument actually is. So I'll break this down into smaller pieces:

1. A FC house has been - since the first post - more important to me than personal houses. I will admit I assumed your 3 houses were your personal houses - I am sorry for that assumption. However, you allowed everyone who reads this thread to think so.

2. An FC is entitled to 1 house. If your other 2 FC houses are personal houses you allow FC members access to - then you are a troll. You know exactly what I'm trying to say and are simply arguing for the sake of arguing. That is trolling. If your other 2 FC houses are 2 other FCs of yours, then you're no different than those I mentioned earlier, who would take the time to do things like ranking up extra FCs on alts just to be able to get extra houses. Its greedy. You showed everyone your greed. Oh well. Not to mention, having more houses for an FC than SE intended people to have - even if nothing in-game stopped you from doing so - is using the facilities in a way that SE never intended players to use them. IMHO its violating terms just as abruptly as selling a plot to a player in-game.

3. Just as strongly as I feel you shouldn't have 3 houses when other people don't have an option for 1 - I feel you should not have 3 FC houses when other FCs don't even have the option for 1.

4. Your FC members can only be in one house at a time just the same as you. So it changes my argument none. Why should your FC have access to 3 houses, when they can only ever truly enjoy 1 of them at a time - while other players and FCs don't even have the option for 1?

Conclusion: Its not your fault. You are not the reason. Yet, you are a perfect example of how the system IS UNFAIR. <---That is a +1 to my argument ---> which is that the housing system, is unfair.

I only jumped into this thread because of the sensational title that threatens something I enjoy in game. To summarize as a last post on this topic in no particular order:
1) I disagree with you
2) I believe the only oversight on housing was on the overpopulated servers
3) We don't know how SE is working on it in the future expansion
4) You are correct in saying that those of us with houses are not taking pity on those without (generalization)

As a FC owner, and as someone who wants an entire estate separate from it- I agree. I do not fault my members for putting their own spin on the place, but it's not what I would personally want to call my own. My room in the estate is more of a joke room for people to enter. But for my own needs a M sized estate would do nicely. I could decorate it, and I know that there will be some one who enjoys house touring as much as I do somewhere out there to see it.

Even if the owner doesn't log in for a month, doesn't mean they didn't put love and effort into it. And I'm quite sure the amount of players buying up homes and leaving them 100% empty just to say "screw you" is at low number. I'm on a very populated server so getting a home that isn't in The Goblet is a rarity. But I still held out and managed to snag one.

I agree too, its nice and enjoyable huh, but that doesn't change the fact that it is unfair. There shouldn't only be a select few who get to own one and enjoy those perks.

My point is simple: Grats on having a plot. I'm sure you don't like the idea of giving it up. Yet, there are thousands that won't get to have the same enjoyment as you, who pay the same sub you do. Those people, won't give a crap if you lose that plot - in fact they'd be happy for it, especially if they won't ever get one either. Just the same as you don't give a crap that we don't have a plot, because you have one.

Rather than justifying greed, claiming you don't give a crap, or saying its lame to ask for the system to be removed until its implemented properly (much like they are doing with diadem atm); Why not relate, as you can - I'm sure - see the point on both sides. I don't think it's unfair, and this was before I got my estate mind you, because apartments exist. Just like with real life you simply gotta wait for things meant for a select group to open up. I get it, fantasy video game. But there are some inconveniences that aren't that big of a deal.

Now. What I think would be truly fair is if each player, upon unlocking housing via requirements- got a free apartment space as per their grand company. Small, cramped, but still usable and can be worked with. Aion does this and their housing is even harder to obtain because of the way the marketing works. They have to pay rent, but over all it's not a bad place and the area is beautiful and maybe quadruple the size of a housing ward in XIV.

My favorite housing ever was in Wonderland Online. You got a tent. Get to crafting. Want a wall? build it. The whole thing. Want a wall paper? Screw nature, craft the paper. Get pigment from flowers and ink. Want stairs? Better chop those trees (after you make the axe, and that's after you go to the caves for iron ore) open a forgery to make the nails, mix chemicals to get the- you get the point.

Referencing your own greedy and salty "I'm part of the select group others can't be a part of, that this content was intended for", is what shines the most here. What you are doing is called 'projection'. It is a form of denial. This isn't a thread designed for you and yours to plus each other's posts and tell everybody "boohoo". No, this thread is for the topic the thread is for. Which is to fix housing - you can start your own thread for "Please let me be the only one to have housing". I'm pretty sure, I've waited quite long enough (Since early access 1.0). I'm positive, that I've put in more than enough work. I've already made it more than clear what this post is about and if you can't be bothered to read every post, yet still want to make baseless accusations and take things off topic - by all means, go for it.

There's something seriously wrong with the 3 of you that come in here knit-picking a sentence or two, fail to make a point other than "Yea we're greedy, and we don't care", and then think you've accomplished something. You are trolling. Every step of the way I've been nothing but nice - blunt, sure - but nothing but nice. But I will go ahead and humor your original reply to me. Who was the group housing was meant for? I'm pretty sure it was FCs and Players, and especially those who have the gil to purchase a plot (Just like me). I don't see anything that specifically mentions your name. EVERY player was the intended group. Get over yourself. Its been said before that this system will be expanded for more than just those of you who have a plot now, and a major goal of this topic is to have SE make that happen sooner - rather than later.

I agree with the OP. The housing system is unfair, and SE needs to fix it. Such a shame, whenever someone finally speaks up about it, there's nothing but off-topic banter taking the focus off the real issue.

To be honest, it's supposed to be limited, that's what gives it value. Now I'm not saying this just because I have a house, I felt this way even before owning one and scrapping together every gil I could to get one when one opened up. I feel blessed hat I did, exited and ecstatic that out of the 720 houses in mists on my server, I owned one. I was 1 in 720 players(Fc's unbalance these numbers but the house still technically belongs to he fc leader so it's fine) to claim something in the game as 'mine'. Do I think every player should have the opportunity to get the chance at owning one, yes. And We do for the most part. It just isn't easy.

Now do I think we need more apartments? Yes, and in fact they could be a little bigger. And we should probably get an indoor planting box for farming to give players that access. Currently there is just not enough apartments, which quiet frankly, there is not any excuse for not having more. Seeing as each medium house can have 30 apartments if it's a fc house, than it really really isn't too much to ask for more of them.

Back back to my original point, owning land in this game is supposed to feel good. It's your own little chunk of ff14, a small piece that YOU own. It's limited accessibility is part of what makes it special, and if everybody just got one, than what would be the point? 'Party at my house?' 'Nah my house has all the same stuff, just come over here.' 'I don't need to come to your house cause I've got my own with all the same exact stuff!' And so on and so forth. If everybody owned one, then what would the point of making friends, renting rooms (I've seen a few rent ownership on plots, and I myself have a roommate, though he pays no rent XD), or hanging out at a medium or large fc house with your buddy? Hell, the original housing was ONLY open to fc's in the beginning, and players couldn't own any land for themselves, so it's some small progress. Is there still going to be problems? Yes, but that comes with the territory of availability. Not like it's accessible for every person in real life to own a home too anyways, most live in apartments or share houses with other people, so once again the game imitates life.

Do I wish for the system to get better for the players who wish to experience it? Yes. Do I want it to come at a cost to those who truly care, and love their houses and everything they stand for? No. Those are just my two gil though, what do I know?

Did I read your entire entitled rant? Enough to get the gist of it, but I also have a life to live, and a job to get up early in the morning for, so no, not every darn word.

Do what the rest of us did, and watch the housing districts. Every hour is a chance for something to demolish. I've now owned two different houses (I demo'd the first and moved close to my FC house, so no, I didn't have two at once, so don't get your smallclothes in a bunch), my husband has one, and my FC was able to get one the day we formed. We're not on a low pop server, and there's not tons of vacant lots sitting out, but houses do demo from time to time, and you can snatch one up pretty easily, if you're checking. Much like in real life, the early bird catches the worm. ;)

You have tools to get into endgame raiding even without a static: PF & RF.

Do you have tools to get into housing ? None
Since the housing can be a private thing SE should have just increased the amount of plots.

2160 plots for a server is ridiculous you can't deny that.

I agree whole-heartedly that the number of plots should increase. That said, I'd hate to see it go to instanced housing, unless that's a separate thing, and existing wards get to stay as they are. I've made most of my friends, found the FC that would later spawn the one I'm in now, and started my business all by being social in the wards. I've seen empty wards, but I have also know very lively ones, and I'd be sad to see that go. The banter between my FC and the neighboring one at our shared MB is just the best. It really does feel like a community.

If you have friends who have houses you can always and to become one of their tenants. They can give you permissions that give you everything owning a house has except you can't sell the house or change the house type (ie moogle house). That's always an option and I always offer it to my friends if any of them want it so they can use the house just the same.

I like housing. Just wish they would reimburse at least half of the cost of the lot upon losing it back to the owner. People are very busy and I believe lot foreclosure in ff14 is a way to keep people subscribed every month; even when they have no other game plans other than keeping their house active. When you know you'll run the risk of losing your entire lot with no recompense or refund, there is literally no way that you would allow your lot be recycled to other players and will continue to log in every 45 days in order to reset the foreclosure timer on your property. If there was a small or moderate housing refund for the player upon losing a property, a healthy number of players would be more comfortable letting there lot be recycled to homeless players. We need some incentive in order to keep the housing market dynamic and in motion.

I do feel the same as Evol though in some situations when I do not see available lots. Though I have more than enough gil, I feel like housing is a feature I wont be experiencing until the risks associated with owning a personal lot are minimized, and refuse to purchase even a small lot to this day. I have nightmares of the day I spend 20 million gil on a medium lot and learn I have to be working away from home over the next few months. When I first began playing, I began to amass a large fortune in the hopes that I may one-day participate in ff14's housing system. Now I am a confused gillionaire.

You get 80% of what you initially paid for the plot back if your plot is auto-demolished, however you only have 35 days after the plot has been demolished to reclaim that (as well any any non-destructible furnishings).

My friends transferred from Cactuar a few months ago and checked the Goblet every night. Guess what? They got a house.

I got up piss early before an 8 hour shift of manual labor to get my house when the new wards dropped. I put in the effort and I got the reward. I'm on shitty 6mb/s DSL internet and I did it.

They're not going to fall into your lap. You have to check. You have to wait. We're a high pop server and it happens.

Took me ages to get mine. Took my friends ages, and many repeated checks to get theirs.


A lot of people are super complacent and just don't check, so plots aren't ~instantly~ snatched up like you imagine. The auto demolish is working. Plots open up, even on our server. I have personally seen it happen so many times.

When my friends got theirs, 4 other houses were also open in the Goblet at the time as well. This was fairly recent.

Be vigilant and you'll be rewarded. Whining will get you nothing.
