Not all of us ...
I guess some of us still value money ^^"

this whole thread is silly. I just can't lol.
Really? of all the things to complain about you all mad that a once restricted piece of cyber gaming clothing that is now available ingame costs too much for you to want to buy and glamour?
If someone is wearing all 3 pieces for the buff, they're going to take just as long to get to 30 as people without the outfit with those gimpy stats. I'm still not sure I'd call that as P2W, more like Pay to Gimp.
yeah it's def not a pay to play. You can ding to lvl 30 after a full day of game play with or without the clothing.
Pay to play is paying for gear that gives you the ability against another player that would not be able to over reach you from in game gear.
The clothing the person is posting every 4 posts is not that
This is why I don't ever post on this forum, people just complain to complain, they wanted the exclusive costumes now they have it they still complain. Don't worry about what hoops SE had to take to let us have it in the first place. This thread is nothing more then ill informed sophistry of the highest order
This is just economics guys. The items aren't overpriced in that sense. SE simply noted the incredibly high demand for some of these items and priced them in equilibrium with that demand in order to maximize their profits. Remember, SE is a business. They exist to get paid.
The thing is, we should not have to ask for it, why would other countries get "exclusive" items ? Because there game is different ?
If the country laws forbid certain things, why should the company care about offering certaon items as compensation ? like you said, SE is a company, not a charity
Were any of these items listed as account-wide?
Nah, the defense then will be "it's fine, it allows new players to catch up to current content" or something. They would defend anything SE does, it'll get to an absolutely disgusting point and they still would.
I especially love the gullible fools who think the money from this stuff actually gets properly put back into this game... if only that was the case, if only.
Only reason I'm not buying it is I can imagine the horrid combat clipping. Either that or the cloth around the legs is stiff as steel and doesn't move whatsoever.
Does the FFXIV community still think they're "testing the waters"?
You can play bingo with cash shop defenders and their buzzwords.
Exclusive Vaan of Rabanastre clothing coming for the low price of $18 but it comes with exp buffs so it's it's okay! < this'll happen.
i got no problem with it as long enjoy, the next 1 should sell Edda's dye-able Dress^_^

I think the real reasons people ask for things in Mog shop is two things.
1.) Don't have to worry about grinding something to get it.
Or
2.) it's an item they think SE might not give them so they ask to put it where the money is.
And people pay hundreds of dollars for spaceships in other games? I fail to see your point?
If you follow the trends that is a sure fire way to get anything added to the game. If people are willing to pay a premium for it then why would SE not do it? That's how the cash shop started in the first place.
For me the mog station is still under maintenance when i tried to click on " optional items" So maybe they are adjusting something?
Dunno about others, but I knew pretty much from the start that CS would include exclusive content. And even then, I was fine with it. As long as the content continues to provide no in-game benefits (silly, overblown paranoia about selling wedding bands in-game notwithstanding), I still don't mind. They can put whatever gorgeous glamour up there they want, and I still won't be tempted to pay cash for it. The selection of clothing we have in-game is vast, and I'll pretty much never run out of glamour options to try there. There's nothing on the Cash Shop that is must-have.
Folks are letting their envy run away with them. If you are staunchly opposed to the Cash Shop and see something you like there - just don't buy it. You don't need it. And you're working yourself into a frenzy with the idea that you DESERVE it when, no, really, you don't. SE decides what you get as part of your subscription and what you don't. It's their prerogative to offer additional features for extra money if they see fit to do so. If this business model is not to your liking, there's nothing keeping you here - but honestly and seriously, even if every single subscriber outraged by this were to unsubscribe now, SE would STILL be making a profit, so I really don't see any changes incoming.
If SE were to offer equipment with game stats competitive (or superior) to endgame gear - that's when I think you'd start to see losses of subscriptions enough to finally tip the balance. Wisely, they've refrained from doing so.
It's Cheaper to get a real Dress...

All Primal servers are down right now for emergency maintenance. They usually take the Mog Station down to make sure nobody buys something during that time, probably to prevent paid items from getting lost while they fix stuff.
*Edit* Forgot to quote you RayneLittlewinkle, but that was directed at your reply.
This thread amuse me. People opposing this trend should just speak with their wallet. If you don't like something or don't want to support it, then don't buy it. People like to get attention so others will notice them and if there is a change, they will see "I was one of those that spoke." The majority of people ask for the exclusive item. They didn't ask for alterations, different stats, different looks, so the company gave what the masses ask. Probably the many ppl who are going frenzy wanted the item, buy they now noticed the price and are now whining.
If someone is poor in RL life or don't have the money to buy, you shouldn't buy it. It is stupid people with other needs still argue about it. Funny thing I have seen this happening with other companies about other products. I worked there and saw how stupid customers can become.
If you always wanted it, the prices are fine. If you never did then you wont care. People on this forum say other People complain, yet when they Get their outfit its the prices problem. They never intended to have them here. Dont say its stupid everyone wont Get everything. Please, chinese market is different. And xp bonus isnt pay to win, someone explain to me how that is pay to win lol.
It "makes leveling faster" is probably what they mean. Which, for leveling up an alt class, it still takes quite a while for more casual players like me. I get about maybe 3-4 hours of gameplay on most evenings and can't just grind content when I'm under lv15. (1-15 is truly the worst. Everything else isn't bad). So if this happens to stack with the novice ring and the helm of might or other stuff, it's a HUGE speedup for me and definitely worth the cost. (And I like glamours.)
It's a body piece, leg piece & feet for 18$.
Snow/Lightning attire is Hairstyle, body, arms, legs, & feet for what...15$?
I assumed(idk why but I did) it would be 10~$ for the China stuff if it was released over here & I did plan on getting it...but it's almost twice that. And I value my money...so I am not buying it. I personally don't care about a cash shop, as long as it reasonable. This is not. But what does it matter, I'm just one person.
The xp bonus on these items is the same as the ring you get from the hall of novice. I don't see that particular one being pay to win. However, the notion of being able to pay to skip the leveling process or a majority of the main scenario quest is seriously pay to win. I agree with your other point though. We weren't ever intended to get these items. It makes pretty good sense that we have to pay a premium for it. Just like we had to pay a premium for the Lightning Strikes items that weren't ever going to be added to the cash shop.
Except it won't make leveling faster. Did you look at the stats? They don't grow as you level, so you're purposely gimping yourself, which will significantly slow down a dungeon run, for an exp increase. Looks like a wash to me.
And, side note, 1-15 is extremely easy if you're doing your hunting log.
If you want to call this pay to win, go for it. Personally, I stop listening to you at that point because an experience boost to level 30 that is comparable to the invite a friend head piece that stops no where near end game isn't pay to win. It's "pay to save two hours". There are many reasons to complain about the cash shop, but that isn't one of them.
I'm going to guess that they set the price point because they knew from the forum requests that it would be a high demand outfit. I mean, there could be some kind of extra fee that has to be paid to the Chinese publisher to use it but I doubt it. If you think it's overpriced, talk with your wallet. People not buying the dyes was probably what forced them into the game as a venture reward.
@kerii but the people asked for the item the Chinese game got. They should have invest their time to look and get all the description of the item and then see if they wanted the exact item or want SE to make modifications. SE gave what people asked, which is the exclusive item.nothing less.
My whole point of view is that the cash shop should only be used for items that were already obtainable in game and could be used for people who want to catch up. No exclusives and no retainers.
I love glamouring - but I don't believe I should pay any more than my sub in order to get this stuff.
Sadly a lot of people seem to want to throw money at the cs, it will get worse and worse and eventually drive loyal people away with frustration.
Meh, they're turning the game into Free to Play through the Mog Station, don't be surprised if that happens in the not so far future!...
Prices for optional stuff are ridiculous, SE is just milking us badly!... :(
@Aivi let's ask SE if they are fine by losing some few loyal customer while they gain more new players. I worked in a company that they did only care to provide exceptional customer service if the customer spent thousands of dollars compared to those spending just a few dollars.
Well... this slope has certainly gotten slippery.
