Well, then you surely know the value of working hard for something, right? Those of us that earned the gil to buy a house did so by working hard for it (minus the small miniority of people who buy gil). So, why are you here complaining about your lack of gil and asking for a free house? Just because this is a video game, that makes it different?

In my honest opinion I do not think personal houses which are small should be bought. I believe they should be for free.
This would make it avaliable for everyone who wants a house to be to have one. This is just my own opinion.

I hate to be that guy but I'll say it anyway, if you can barely manage an hour or two a day then this game just might not be for you buddy.

Housing especially, this is something that's only really available for the more dedicated player. I'm sorry, but that's how it is.

I see where you are coming from. Even with what everyone has stated it may still take a few months before I can truly get enough money to buy one.
I don't want to buy gil that to me is cheating. No offence to anyone reading this that did buy Gil to get a house. Each to their own do what ever makes you happy.

I bought my house just on culinarian and fishing alone. I had like 2 fishing items and 3 food items I gathered and crafted exclusively. Took a few months but got it done.

Meo could you please tell me what food did you cook and what did you gather?

I can see ops point but after struggling through leveling dols to 60, that cost has to have its just rewards too. It may suck but i honestly say push through it 30/45 min or your play time a day, eventually youll hit 60 and can -secret technique here-. Hard work pays hard gil, get your 200k for 45 minutes of play at that point per day if that, so now dol is very fun. Mog houses like xinwould be nice too, but as the current system is set, suffer through something, not long, but consistently a little bit a day.

i wont say what im fishing cause its netting me 1-2m per day and i like that, but i will say just hitting 60 you need to find your own way on the market board! Definitely not instant. Problem is alot hit 60 and arent happy with the OBVIOUS things to go after for gil then quit when the work isnt worth the gil. Pipiras is definitely junk compared to what some are making so much on for fishing for example. Research, be dis satisfied, then keep researching, youll get there. For me it was very unexpected and came accross it from bordum. Shiz happens

Also, could not have researched what im doing right now either no matter how good your google skill is. People keep them secret in a way that you would stumble upon legendary weapons in FFX with no guide or internet. it all just takes time. My suggestion to research was to just get familiar with playing the eco.

Not sure how you struggling to afford a small house. A member of my FC has saved enough for a small house by just doing storyline and selling gear rewards. My son has also just hit 53 first time round and already has 1.3 mill. Gil is really easy to come by and stockpile, the problem you are having is how you spend it.

I saved enough gils by selling everything my retainers got back and mats that dropped from mobs. Look at the MB and get stacks of whatever sells for more that you can farm by killing mobs.

Logging into Odin, the same server as you btw, Weaver grade 5 glamour crystals are going for 14k. You can make 100k within a day if you undercut between activities. It's basically free money as you can make your battle class retainer get the mats. You only need to level to 50 and some leveling gear equipped (recipe is level 30), which also opens up a lot of other crafting options like I described on the first page. Just get a glamour class to 50 (anything but CUL), that's literally all it takes to make gil for no additional effort.

I also recommend trying to make a Dragonskin map party. They are very profitable now that we have Aquapolis and you might even catch a few minions (to sell?).

EDIT. As I was making some furniture I saw how much they were selling for: 200k+ for low level furniture made of vendor materials. Take a look in the Housing section of your crafting log to see what you can make. Even CUL has some pretty nice looking meals to place in a house.

Because there are no real gilsinks? Even the content that is supposed to be a gildsink, gets flipped to accumulate more gil.

Black, ill give this up cause its no secret. Tier V materia is expensive ish depending on what you have, i think it would be good for your situation,
Do the new 3.3 patch 24 man raid, once per week youll automatically earn a machi matter before exiting the dungeon, guaranteed, not loot dependent.

Take the matter to the goblin on top of the wood stairs near the ildyshire teleport, get a free V materia from him, and sell it for 100k once a week. Check prices on mb before picking.

P.s. Married with two teenage/adult girls, fulltime job as well, the drama is real. You can find time for yourself and fun and still get your ff gil on.

3 mil for a home is cheap. But there is other ways to obtain Gil OP. Before I as even level 60 o had 2mil in the bank simply cause sold -everything-

Also if you are into the beast tribe dailes they give you materia IV to sell on the MB, depending on your server one of those can range from 11k-30k. I am sorry op... but there is many ways to make Gil :(

But even of you did have the Gil it doesn't matter especially of your server housing got ate up in under 10 minutes like they did on mine.so now I'm just sitting on the Gil I worked so hard to save up for one.

Since 3.3 the initial prices are the same on all servers.
Naturally those, who had the lowest initial prices before 3.3, are now a bit higher.

There are enouh ways to earn gil with battle content. Challenge Log, materias from beastmen quests, element materias IV from spirit boundings, materia V from 24 man raid, crafting mats from lv60 dungeons, and so on.
Just don't be too shy to sell stuff.

Jokes aside, the easiest way to make money is to level up your retainers and send them on Ventures. Watch the market board, be diligent with your listings, and you could make 100k+ a day easily.

Why do you buy from Market Board ? There is no reason to buy any gear from market board pre 50 use npcs/dungeon gear unless craft/gather where hq helps level faster and get hq mats. After 50 all your gear is hq from quests available to 60, sell the ones you dont need most still go for around 100-200k. Weekly materia is 400k-500k gil from void and yes the sword is probably around 18k here too. We crafters unfortunately take advantage of lazy players not checking npcs lol

There are alot of ways to make good money over time without much effort.

1. Retainers: I've made alot money just by retainer ventures.

2. Beast Tribes: At the beginning of patch 3.2 I did make alot mony by selling the materia I got this way.

3. Treasure maps: You get alot of stuff that you can sell for much money. The prices of some stuff have from time to time huge spikes. Save them in your retainer, till they are at a good price.

These 3 types of content don't need much time and I've made around 40.000.000 Gil this way since the launch of heavensward.

One thing I've saved a long time was the seamen cotton, which I got sold yesterday for around 600k each piece.

Shame you not on Ragnarok server I would take you in our Fc and show you how to make gil without crafts/gather. Then use that gil to focus on crafts/gather to increase your funds.

Its obtainable through treasure hunting (I think it was in the Lvl 50 - 8 man maps). But for a long time, it was nerly nothing worth, till we got now new recipes, which need this mat.

the fact that all 720 new plots were sold after 10 minutes of server start proves, that housing is way to cheap..

I make half a million per weekend solely through my retainer ventures. Add to that the gil you get from dungeons, stuff you buy with GC seals (which you can also max from "selling" dungeon gear) and materia from the beast tribes and that's a pretty good amount of money per week for someone who's highest crafter is a level 13 carpenter.

Well I haven't crafted since the update and have currently made 18 million and that's just on dragonskin maps/treasure dungeon.

I mainly sell grade matters and glamor prisms. Have around 25 mil atm. Just have to save and not spend.

Sometimes I think I find myself looking for ways to spend my gil more than ways to earn it.

Man... I have 21 mil and I don't even craft beyond my raid food. This game throws ducets at ya. And that's all with a costly minion addiction.

I didn't think the small house pricing was high at all. People complaining about the price seem to forget that everyone knew housing was going to be avalible this patch since patch 3.1

To the OP, There are comparable spaces to xi's inn already in place. You get your own inn room for free. Granted you can't modify the furniture therein, but there are also free company rooms you can buy for only 300k. If that's not enough, the apartments they plan on adding in the future should accommodate better. If you want the works, a ward home, well that'll cost a little more but that's the nature of the beast.

I don't blame TC. This game provides ways to make Gil but not everyone knows about. And people who know it don't want to tell the others (happen in every MMO, I think).

From what I gather from your posts, this is the real problem right here. You are spending excessively/unnecessarily. I had 1.8 million by the time I leveled my first class to mid-50s (NIN), doing MSQ and daily roulettes, without grinding/crafting.

I penny-pinched. Sold everything I could on MB, vendored all junk drops, rode the chocobo porter, and most importantly, did not buy anything I didn't have to. That is being careful with your money.

Real-life money management principles apply in-game as well. You need to determine your goal. Why are you spending time and gil on cooking? If your goal is to save 4 million for a house+permit, you should be leveling a gatherer, not a crafter. Buying mats to craft with is not saving - at best it's investment/speculation. At worst it's just throwing away money (if you don't intend to use your CUL to make money in the future).

It's much better to just level BTN or MIN and sell the mats. It might not feel like much, but it adds up. Oh by the way, have you checked your retainer for gil? If not, you may have a good chunk of change there.

You mentioned not having much time. That's fine too. As others have mentioned, you make a lot of money simply through leveling to 60, completing the MSQ, and selling every quest reward you don't need - no crafting/gathering required. At level cap, daily roulette/quest rewards also add up. The bottom line is this: You're spending too much. Stop spending unnecessarily and your money will increase as you run content.
