I think its false drama, cause I like the idea, cause I rather not fight for my lot and keep doing it for just 1.

Will it share a loot lockout with the actual gear, or be seperate in VA?
Unless they changed their minds it's supposed to be separate from the gear. They said that they didn't want people to have to choose between taking a gear piece or an upgrade item, but you're limited to one each per week.
Rewards
You can receive only one reward item per week for completing duties in the Void Ark. In the event you are awarded an item from the loot list, you relinquish your right to vie for all remaining items regardless of whether you selected Need or Greed. If time expires and a reward item is obtained automatically, this will also count toward the weekly limit.
* Reward eligibility is reset every Tuesday at 12:00 a.m. (PST).
Each party in the alliance will receive its own treasure chest, the contents of which will be identical regardless of the route taken.
* Players cannot open a treasure chest belonging to another party.
Completion Reward
Upon completing the Void Ark, players can also earn a separate reward once per week. This reward can be exchanged with Bertana in Idyllshire (X:5 Y:5) for items used to enhance equipment purchased with Allagan tomestones of esoterics.
* Reward eligibility is reset every Tuesday at 12:00 a.m. (PST)
You're using the word gated in the wrong way.
srsly. They're just made available outside of Alexander Savage. Stop yo crying.
HAHAHAHA. If you are even slightly concerned that there won't be an entire server spamming fates, crashing zones, screaming in chat about early pulls, and generally making that entire portion of the game feel like a burning nightclub, then I think you'll be feeling relieved on Tuesday.
It has nothing to do with why people are or aren't clearing content. By adding to hunts they not only ruin the nature of what the Hunt is supposed to be, they make people who would actually want the upgrades not set foot into savage unless they're after a "BiS" set or the mount.
My only issue with this is.... Regardless of wording and semantics (really, we can argue infinitely about those)...
It happened twice that they added gear upgrade parts to hunts. Both times it created the absolute worst environments to play in, and you didn't even have to participate or even be bothered about the fact of "upgrades via hunts" at all. It was more than enough to simple be in any given zone, and witness the hateful, toxic interaction that went on every single time there was a hunt mark to be slain. The name-calling, the bĂ—tching, the hostility of it all was really the absolute worst both times. Sure, you can disable /shout, but like with using /busy against RMT /tells - is that really the actual intended use of that mechanic? Shutting down entire communication channels in a game that's supposed to be social? Yeah, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth, imo.
Not looking forward to this at all.
Why are they limited weekly to Void Ark while being available freely through Hunts? If they truly want to gives us alternatives, that's how it should have been. Hunts are terribly designed, the worst part of the game and the majority consensus is that they just create needless toxicity among the community, why do they keep insisting on bringing them back time and time again without changing how they work?
Hunts aren't going anywhere. Are you expecting them to just drop the entire system?
I've actually been enjoying hunts since they have died out due to everyone hardcore grinding on them from the start. The past month all the 2.0 and 3.0 A ranks are almost always up and nobody killing them so I've taken a few of my FC members who don't get to do hunts and went out as a small group of 2-4 people and killed them all. Was a nice way to help people get achievements and some extra seals and law for other things, but honestly low manning them is pretty fun to do. They are all duoable except the two A ranks in hinterlands, those you do need a few more people. What super irritates me when they become popular is people demand everyone wait for 30-60+ people to show up for an A rank kill just so they can all hurry up to bumrush their upgrades. Hence why it's only good to bother with them if 1) you are in that zone and 2) you "really" need to do it. Otherwise it's just best to pass on A and S ranks during the craze. That or form your own small party to dedicate to hunting. So there you have it some new ways to upgrade your gear, which people are always asking SE for alternative ways to do this. Remember the huge fuss when they asked to trade in Law instead of Hunt Seals for Eso upgrades?
1) Alex Savage the same system as it has been. Challenging hard content and getting rewards unique to that content + upgrade rewards for the casual side.
2) Void Ark weekly system. Congrats you have 100% way of obtaining a gear upgrade piece. Yea it's a weekly thing but it's 100% and only requires you to do it once. Meanwhile you are getting other gear from this content.
3) Hunt seals to buy. If you do it casual you can easily make around 800 seals casually in a week just by doing your 3.0 dailies and weekly, which is 1 clan book per week since it costs 500 seals to buy. So it's the same as the other 2 being "weekly".
However yes there is no limit on hunts after all there's 2 A ranks in all 3.0 zones, so 12 there, and 1 A rank in all 2.0 zones, so 14 there. That's 26 A ranks that spawn every 3 hours or so based on when they were killed. That can add up over time but it's a huge time sink and it's likely that not everyone is going to be getting to those ranks constantly back to back. Let alone people know these things can be killed by 2-4 people so most likely there are going to be those who form up their own small parties to do them and not share death times, so times are all going to be on and off. Then there's the S ranks are always shouted and zerged to death as soon as a # of people show up. So those who are going to be dedicating their time to A/S hunts are going to stress themselves out. So the casual people are going to be getting 2 things per week one from Void Ark and one from Hunts that's pretty simple and easy to do. On top of that there's still the tome caps and scrip caps.
Honestly I don't see why the huge fuss over hunts still tho, especially since they are pretty much dead atm. Why in such a rush to upgrade gear? By the time it's upgraded there's going to be a new patch with new gear out. What is the point of maxing out the gear anyway when almost all the casual content in the game can be face-rolled with dungeon gear and tome gear? The only annoying part that is going to come back is seeing the chat box flooded with "inv!" "Wait! Don't pull!" "Reset please!" and the other things but that will end in another 2 months or so.

If they made them like actual hunt quests this wouldn't be a problem. Acccept the quests from the tavern or w/e, walk up to the hunt area queue awaiting 24-72 players, explore the now empty area instance specially made for your team, seek out the monster and beat the crap out of it. Now your whole team gets full credit and everyone goes back happy.

Hunts are cool when you are doing them with a small group of people.
Zergfests? Waiting 200 min so the entire server can be there? Excuse-me, no. Thats terrible. Either let us get loot freely on void ark or gate hunt into 1 piece/week.
Hunts are hilarious for this exact reason.
I can take or leave them but I'm not going to complain over the chance to get my gear upgraded faster than one token a week.
Plus, the constant cries about early pulls are an endless source of entertainment (at least, endless until hunts go back to being something no one cares about, which only takes about two weeks from the time any patch drops).
You shouldn't expect the entire server to pander to you specifically. If you want to participate in the content, try to get into a good hunt LS, be ready to get your party going and get to the mob as quick as you can. If it gets pulled before you get there, it's not the end of the world. I don't understand why people insist on acting like it is, but it sure is amusing to watch from my perspective.
FATEs you do with 350 other people should totally give out rewards that raids only give one of per week.
"Raids"; Void Ark is going to be just as faceroll as FATEs, just like the CT chain.
So if the void ark gear is i200 (?) and once a week. What is the point of it exactly?
wait longer than 4 months how much longer do you want them to wait? Savage is only good to 3.2, the people who care about the challenge have already been doing it. they already delayed the weapon upgrade item to 3.15 probably. so should they delay that to when nobody actually wants it?
is the nature of hunts supposed to be A Ranks just standing around the field and S Ranks popping and no one caring about it? that's been the nature of hunts on my server for at least the last month.
people had 4 months to step foot into Savage already, why would anyone who still haven't all of a sudden decide to do it now? the way Savage is designed, if you're not the type to be after BiS, you won't clear A3S anyway. A3S isn't built for people who don't care about being really good at the game.
And anooooother hunt thread......zzzZZzzz

............Why are you comparing company exploration to hunts? You do a buttload more things in explorations. In fact explorations would've been alot better if the exploring factor wasn't butchered with a damn to-do list. Whats the point of going to these new mysterious lands if we can't discover the s#%$ that are mysteries to us?? We already know what we're looking for!! That's like half the exploring right there!! Another idea with untapped potential.
The hunt idea is what hunts should have been in the past. Explorations would've been different too. Btw its was the first time I looked at that picture, super disappointing.
That begs the question, why didn't The Diadem replace The Hunt entirely? It's pretty much a better version of The Hunt, even with its own currency similar to The Hunt.
They're not butchering anything with a to-do list, that list is available for players who want to have a goal in mind. They can be completely ignored without any issues, I fail to see how that's butchering anything.
Probably because The Hunt is a fully working game aspect in the open world that some people actually like doing. My question is, why are people so adamant about removing or replacing a type of gameplay they don't like when they could just suggest additional types of gameplay? "Better" is subjective after all.
He was comparing your hunt idea to The Diadem, because they are almost identical. Except The Diadem offers other things to do if the team wants to stay there after killing one enemy. So your style of hunts would be redundant upon implementation. Also, you can minimize/hide your duty objective list if you don't like it.
Good thing about The Diadem is that it's apparently going to drop 210 gear, so anyone who prefer instanced hunting/exploring is free to do so for similar rewards. The cooldown between full missions is only 30 minutes which is a lot less than the wait for another S rank to pop.
It's fine when it's relatively dead, but when it's a zergfest does anyone really find it fun? I doubt it, I can't speak for everyone but I can't say I enjoy people name calling each other on chat for 10 minutes due to "pulling early", or anything of that sort. They shouldn't be tied to progression, bardings, minions, sure. That maintains a healthy but not so toxic community for The Hunt, but when they tie progression it's not beneficial for the game or the players, while putting a lot of people off. If they insist on turning it into a zergfest time and time again, it's better to rid of it all together.
They're forcing people into content that they otherwise wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, which is where the problem lies. I know someone is going to respond "But you can spend 10+ weeks with the weekly Void Ark lockouts!", why did the Void Ark have to have those items weekly locked to begin with? It would be like telling someone they can drive for 2 hours to pick a package up, or wait 2 months for it to be delivered, obviously they're going to drive the 2 hours.
well the fun thing is if OP doesn't want to do hunts to upgrade there is always Alexander:groidias (i think thats spelt right but either way SAVAGE) if you don't want to hunt. besides the hunting community has still been very active. this won't do much just throw a bone for those who don't want to do alex or void ark for new gear.
Wait so hunts allow you to upgrade to 210 w/o lock out? Will they be removing the lock out for Savage then?
