He's free to pick just one. Instead he's picked none. I did not have any intention of meaning to go get everything to 60, even if that in itself is also an option.

I picked none? My ninja is my main and it's level 60 and I prefer to stay on it to perfect my rotation and get the top gears for it. Why would I waste time on another class when I'm trying to be the best Ninja?
Also, to the posters before, I quit FFXI many many years ago.
I don't think level more jobs is an acceptable answer. Level them and do what exactly? Idle in your housing ward? Do the same two dungeons over and over? Fun. This game needs more variety content.
"Anyone who disagrees with me is stupid!"
:^)
Don't make forum posts if you are so immensely adamant in your stance on the subject that people arguing with you are inadvertently being referred to as idiots. Forums are for discussion, and discussion sometimes leads to others opposing you. Deal with it without referring to opposition as stupid and lashing out in anger.
I'm sorry but this post is silly.
So you're telling me that those of us who are bored of the same 2.0 routine under a new paint coat has no life and has rushed?
Yeah okay, let's see. It took me a little over 2 weeks to get to 60 on AST and I paced my time.
You get to end-game then what?
2 dungeons, boring raid, a boring raid. [Coil was better IMO.]
I feel like some of you people seriously go on a complete 100% snail's pace just so you can tell people who are tired
of the same silly routine they rushed.
"Level more jobs"
Yay, let's level stuff we don't want to. That doesn't help. It really doesn't help when
you're banging your ahead against a wall as a DPS or so saving Moogles for 50 million hours in Churning Mists while you wait 10 days
for a queue to pop up. By that time I've already logged out.
It's not fun. Leveling other jobs are much more boring than it was in 2.0. I can't take it anymore.
Yes, that's one of those judgamental arguments I see from time to time. This has nothing to do with rushing at all. I didn't rush to end game. I leveled several jobs to 60 at a slow pace and here we are. Can't do primals for the stated reasons earlier, done housing. Slowly leveling crafting and gathering (again, not rushing! though honestly, not much of a fan of gathering, but it makes some quick gil). I do my cactpot. Alex is locked out weekly, eso locked weekly, Savage oh don't get me started there. Just because there are "things to do" doesn't mean they are as engaging and fun as going into battles (though I'd argue Alex is any fun.. same for dungeons. I was expecting something more epic when it came to Alexander.). I'm one of those who doesn't cap Eso on the first day, too. So, what rush again?
Which is why Themepark games are badly designed in general for Western audiences. However FFXIV is a Japanese game and Japanese players most of them do not have much time to play games. So this content is perfect for them, the caps are actually good because it encourages them to get to bed early and get up for school. Which, isn't really a bad thing. However most MMOs these days are not made for content locusts like EQ/EQ2/SWG/Most old games were made for.
Sandbox games and player made content are a way developers can keep up. Since the players develop the content for other players.
SWG was amazing because there was so much busywork and crafting required other players to literally escort you across dangerous land just to get and place a harvestor. You had to hire players to escort you and it was pretty much a player made quest. So much potential in Sandbox games that are lost because developers are too busy wanting to make things and don't think players can handle it themselves, yet they gobble it all up. =P
Why am I not playing those games? Outdated, or dead. My computer can barely run them because of how old they are.
Not sure we're playing the same game here. I've got two jobs to sixty and I'm still finding a ton of stuff I want to do.
Between leveling alts, gearing alts, unlocking flying in all areas, finally, working on crafting, leveling gathering, farming MPG so I can get the Fenrir mount, working towards my PvP achievements and ranks, I have enough content to last me a long while.

in a similar boat, still plenty to do on my list - take that hiatus/quit if you're bored
Right? I'm far from running out of things to do between crafting, gathering, leveling, raiding, and doing random-ass things with my friends like burning down unsynced dungeons for giggles. It doesn't really take a rocket scientist to figure out that someone that only does one type of content will run out faster than someone that wants to do all of it.
The game is only a chore if you make it a chore. Take a break if you need to. If you feel OBLIGATED to log in then you're making the game a job. Better to take a break than burn yourself out by forcing yourself to play. If you're bored then go play something else. It's an MMO, not a perpetual fun generator.
I find plenty of things to do every time I log in. PVP, leveling other classes, playing the markets, Gold Saucer, hunts, farming for glamours, doing stuff with my husband or friends, achievements, etc. And on Thursday/Friday I do Savage with my static.
What people are really complaining about is a lack of midcore PVE content, NOT an overall lack of content. There is stuff to do, but it's slim pickings for midcore players who aren't pushing Savage. There is a large portion of the playerbase that is not hardcore enough to do Savage but they log in more frequently than casual players, and it seems like Alex Normal and 2 dungeons aren't really enough to keep them happy.
So, combining this and the rejection for content longevity and relevance (through gear system reworking), the players who are perfectly fine with this game's current state, they want new content fast but does not want the devs to figure out ways to make the content stick longer than a few months...because they believe that's how many other want it? And then you tell people who don't like this to basically unsub? How do you justify batch subs then? Or even subs at all? Would it not be better if they just sell patches? XIV patches are best around after all right?
You have your merry go round ride and you only want the devs to only replace the horses you sit on every few moths and that's it? You don't want the devs to add a new ride and then upkeep both? People say this is a theme park mmo. When a theme park announces they're expanding, do you expect new rides or do you expect them to just replace the horses, carts, etc and essentially have the same rides?
Whether someone is spent on the game or not completely depends on how much of the game they really like. Final Fantasy XIV has a smorgus board of different game systems crammed into it much like other MMOs out there. The whole point of this is to blanket target as many people as possible to get them to play the game. People who are getting bored of the game are the people interested in the core aspects of the title such as the main story, progression, and little else. Crafting is pretty boring for a lot of people, and without housing that is accessible to the general masses there isn't a lot of incentive to build and settle in. FC housing doesn't even count since people can lose it at a whim, and while plots are available for buying a house in game, the cost is prohibitive.
I guess there is chocobo racing and Triple triad? Are those a thing?
I will admit that I'm playing less these days. There's not as much in the way of end-game content right now (which hopefully 3.1 will help with), and while I used to spend a lot of my downtime working on crafting, the new crafting progression structure (and the lack of meaningful things to craft) has left me without much interest for what was once one of my favorite parts of the game.
I want to see more relevant content somewhere in between Alexander Normal and Alexander Savage. EX primals should be relevant content and ideally provide truly relevant rewards (they were at their best in 2.1, IMO), and I really wish we had a raid tier tuned more like the old Coils.
I am constantly shocked at how many topics are created by OPs that have the gall to say the speak for everyone, or even the majority.
While i get OP's point, i also think he is limiting himself to it.
Yes endgame is dull with only 2 expert dungeons to grind and Alexander Savage might also get repetitive since there are only 4 fights (even though most people havent even beaten it yet)
But as others already said, the game offers alot on the side.
Even if Esos wouldnt be capped, you would end up getting all your gear within a week and then what? Youre still not interested in other classes, you still dont like crafting, you still only have those 2 expert dungeons.
If you get bored by the game, then take a break. Wait for them to add more endgame stuff, which is eventually comming even without this thread.
I for one, still got plenty of stuff to do.
I play alot and usually still end up having not enough time to do everything i need to, which ends up in a big backlog of work i have to do for crafting whenever i do find the time.
My suggestions... Do pvp, level more jobs, do endgame crafting, collect things (mounts, minions, achievements, glamor, cards). Now the game is infinite, or at least has more stuff than is humanly possible to keep up with. The airship battle content coming soon may feel less routine since it seems to be somewhat random. They keep adding new activities layer by layer. PvP is different every match.
Seems like the ones who are on the constant bitch about having nothing to do is needing for some sort of random generated infinite farm content. Not sure what the op is talking about when he mentions about "Being the top in my class" but if progression is what you are talking about then please wait for the next patch if you are already done with all 4 floors of Savage and have equipped your character to the brim with all ilvl210. Or why not just take a break from this game for now and go play Diablo.
Long post sorry
I think the way we should look at this is that raiding/farming tomes is a extra thing to do in ff14 just like sight seeing, hunt logs, crafting etc.
So to say you get burned out doing the same thing is accurate if your constantly running the same raid.
I think the situation is the following ... And correct me if I'm wrong. If we look at ff14 there is a multitude of things to do just as it was said earlier . To some it is of interest to some it is not.
Perhaps there is some type of content that can appeal to players that want something akin to ff11. Albeit... A piece of content that captures the essence of a strong point of 11 and deliver on that.
If we can figure what this is and incorporate into 14 then everyone happy I'd imagine.
There is a content drought atm for people who have completed all of the level 50 content, but 3.1 will fix it most likely.
In the mean time, try Seal Rock or leveling alts. All I can really suggest.
The current minus I feel from this game is this scrips and the ridiculous amount of material to craft (and what the hell with the hidden node?). I don't have spirit like before expansion to craft. Also the craft skill. You know, currently we don't have things to do element craft, but why the hell they put the Name of ____ ? /endrant
My hubby and I are finding many things to do.
You missed out on other things.
Chocobo Racing.
Gardening.
Getting gil for new housing.
PVP
Getting all classes to cap.
Farm Achievement
and WAIT It's an RPG... RP...
Well it's not really different content. It's repeating the same content with a different job. End game is sparse ro be honest. Daily check list is repetitive. Expert for Tome stones. levelling, trial, high roulletes for levelling. Daily hunts. Pretty much only thing look forward to is Savage and with Story mode being partof the story progression, instead of adding it when they normally nerf+echo for those who couldnt do Savage. Theres no sense of discovery and exploration because we have seen it all before with story mode Alex.
Chocobo racing for me gets repetitive. No real point of gardening at the present. Already have a house and millions of gil rotting on retainers. PvP, have no interest in PvPing in games that aren't built from the ground up for PvP, not just a tacked on extra. Have 60 MNK, 60 PLD, 60 WAR, 60 ACN (SCH+SMN) all DoH and DoL jobs to 60. NIN @58. But levelling them is still repeating the same content every time.
Best thing for FFXIV is dropping PS3 support, then hopefully they can take it to the next level, without the limitations the PS3 imposes on design.
Aren't.....we getting new content in 3.1? As in something we never had before? Airship explorations are a totally new thing aren't they? They are open world too, not instanced. So.....???? What are the complaints about, it not being here right now?
Thing is, given SE's record, theres a pretty high chance of it dying out within the first week or so (everything in golden saucer) because of being implemented poorly or having no real use outside glamour. Which then if it flops, we're back to 2 dungeons and void ark (CT, so most likely subpar gear not for main jobs)
