And in exchange you got more heals to throw around.

The reason you lost exclusive passive mitigation (Pro-Shell) is because with magic damage scaling the way it does and its prevalence in current content, you'd be shoehorning WHM into every raid comp because neither AST or SCH would be able to provide passive magic mitigation. The alternative would have been to remove Protect entirely, but you'd have even more people frothing at the mouth over that.

Part of the problem stems from the fact that they made AST's healing be sort of like WHM and SCH. Nocturnal and Diurnal stances shouldn't really exist because ideally the job should have it's own style of healing, not merely ape the existing healers. AST could have been a purely HoT-based healer or maybe a healer designed around smart heals.

The thing is they will need the time to transfer all the data from the servers in the Americas (where EU servers are currently hosted, think Canada) to Europe down the main cable under the atlantic. Now think if the chaos server cluster has 1m players on it, all the data to each character (and players have multiple) could be 100mb you are probably looking at petrabytes or even exabytes+ of data to move, test, do server load tests once data is accross, check for errors etc. etc. Its not something that can be done in a few hours or couple of days.

Also don't forget cost I doubt they would be spending less than £3m to move the servers.

He stated we wanted healers to be equal what else can AST get, all new jobs have some form of "similar" abilites to each other, like MCH having MP regen abilites, just like BRD, etc. SO AST needs a regen ability and or a shield ability.

I mean, what else can they give it to make it look attractive? regen is very useful and so are damage shields. they just gave a much weaker version of both.

Yeah, I agree. I wish they'd gone with something new instead of this six of one half a dozen of the other bit.

The cards are kinda cool, but you don't get something that's of immediate use all that often.

Equal in performance and healing throughput, not equal in mechanics. There's ways to implement healing in a way that's different from WHm and SCH.

Less people playing means less profit, which means less server capacity as you put it. "It's simple maths".

Edit: Reading up on the Rift's housing system now, you can have two dimensions for free, and I'm assuming these spaces are much more massive than Manors in FFXIV. On top of that, you can own an extra 18 dimensions by either paying, or through in game gold. This is per character by the way.

Actually not really, they still have the servers from launch etc.. still around, not to mention the servers they have been in general running the game still on. The available capacity that they run on is plentiful for a housing system like that since per server has quite few people actually playing and invested.

Its pretty hard to sell off industrial grade servers anyways.

They may not have sold them off, but maintaining them is costly especially when no one is actually on them. Could have quite easily used them for their other games, like Trove. Anyhow, look at my edit. They can have up to 20 dimensions per character, that blows FFXIV out of the water entirely.

I don't think that's such a bad thing.
A clutch extra raise, not too different than asking your summoner to use Resurrection. The only difference is he can throw up Hallowed Ground to make sure it goes off.

Explain why this is a problem ?

BUT, I stand corrected. Only ACN doesn't need a trait, I recently learned that Ascend can't initially be used in combat...

What'd be the big deal of allowing in-battle raise before lvl 20 ?!

I would rather have paladins adding that sort of utility to the party (just like smn) than seeing them cast the exact same protect and stoneskin as me. Having to slowly cast it due no swiftcast or spellspeed would be a pretty good limitation to paladin raise while removing a huge burden on healer mp when revives aren't really a priority.
