It could have been worse. It was the second time I'd done that faction NM and it was going to be my second buccaneer's shirt. Was probably the only guy on the server to get two to drop back then lol. It's not like 15mil is much in this game.

I just read the first page, or so, of comments, and I'm shocked by the "tough-luck" attitude displayed by most. Shouldn't the OP be allowed to retrieve his (very hard to get, btw, and rightfully earned) runestones? Why all the superioristic, supercilious attitudinizing here? To me this is not a moral issue, but people are making it tantamount to "you shouldn't have ignored that red light, so stop crying over your destroyed car." It's not equivalent.
Even if there's an issue of a technical nature that would prevent a GM from granting the drops anew, shouldn't it be the GM's job to announce that to him/her, rather than this bad-omen chorus of unfriendly, ill-wishers? The truth is: most of the people here have no idea whether it's possible for the OP to get his runestones now or not, so discouraging him or her from escalating the case is ill advice. I remember dropping something precious, accidentally in XI, and getting it back a few days later, after requesting it from a GM... Why is this morally different?
I hope you get your runestones back, buddy, and that you have better luck with a gamemaster than with the heartless, tight-assed bunch that responded to you...

They don't get "lost" or thrown into limbo... or into loot list... Poster even said when he clicked chest it told him name of runestone which only re-enforces what I said.. Had this same exact thing happen to me not over a week ago... Except I was smart enough to clear my inventory and re-click the chest... GM's won't do anything to get you the stones back... Good luck next time :(
You must have some fast skills to be able to clear your inventory and reclick it before the chest depops, because like any other chest it will disappear as soon as you open it. Lightning speed reaction != smart. By the time most people read which runestone they lost the chest will be gone. You must have went straight to your inventory without even reading the log.
XIV doesn't have this service, or any customer service for that matter. I've been there and tried that, even mentioned the XI feature.
Chests from FNM won't open if you inventory is full AND the chest contains a runestone... Just says "unable to obtain" You don't actually get the open animation.. 's more or less a "Here's what it is.. please sort inventory problem & try again" thing... I thought the same thing when it happened to me but due to READING, You just needa sort out the inventory problem before the time limit (When NPCs & whatnot all disappear) and re-click the chest.. If you don't do that before they depop... then yes you are SOL.
In the OP's case, he got the Vintage Haub because it's a reward given by NPC at end of leve... These types of rewards get stored if unable to claim them. The chest that contains the stone on the other hand disappears once the NPC from the leve do... So he is therefore unable to claim it once leve ends & NPCs disappear since he didn't claim it when game message told him to try again after initially clicking the chest.
All in all bad game mechanics coupled with not paying attention= Lost reward
not even a SGM can get you them back there is no item recovery feature availble to them in game yet i've talked to one about a vintage harby +1 i accidently Npc sold... screenshots on the excellence site as proof it was a SGM :p they are the only ones allow to have Rep as their first name. but ya... next time just watch your loot list and inventory better :p
It's possible they ninja changed it since January after my complaint but the chest certainly depopped in my case. It said something like "forces beyond your control prevent you from receiving the Allaghan Runestone whatever". It's not exactly difficult to see a massive chest infront of you if it's still there. I don't fancy wasting faction credit to prove either way however lol.
At the end of the day it's just shitty game design.
Ah... yeah... they've changed it since then apparently... Lets you re-poke the chest if your full now
At the risk of stating the obvious, you know that runestones aren't 100% drops, right? Just because you did the faction doesn't mean you got one. I only bring it up because it seems weird that you would've noticed a runestone message in your log and not notice "Unable to obtain" or whatever.
Wow, 22 responses before anyone popped on that correctly stated that runestones don't go into your loot list. Such knowledgeable people we have around here.
/sarcasm
OP's fault. Be more organized next time.
...there's plenty of people that have ran the FNM leves dozens of times and never gotten a rune stone. It's actually rarer drop now then it used to be since last patch or so it seems at least.
What's lost can be gained again eventually. Who runs around with a full inventory anyways? Stop hording just sell it for gil till there's a gil sink in the game. o.O
Whenever I see the loot box pop up i make sure i have inventory space or check whats in the loot list.
It would be nice if SE added pop up text to say "You have loot waiting, but currently have a full inventory"
I've accidentally, due to my own stupidity deleted out 2 fully loaded retainers of +3 items...it hurts but just chuckle about it and move on.
Anyways...not to sound like a jerk but cry me a river...
I wish that SE would make a more real adventurous MMO and really limit inventory. I don't see why they keep appealing to the people that horde. One's pack is limited for a reason...there's a bit of strategy in only having so many items to utilize going out on your adventure. If they ever do introduce player housing I hope they then limit your inventory again to make it more strategic adventure wise. In the heat of battle I don't think it's anywhere near realistic if you can sit down open up a house worth of items and pick and choose whatever. I'd like to see you have to weigh your losses and gains...do I want this or do I want that.
Looting would be better if it was about to dump an item to pop up and say your inventory is full would you like to drop an item to add this current item to your inventory...
Anyways, SE I believe already mentioned they were adjusting how looting works in the near future
+1 to inventory limiting
SE could drop out slots back down to the amount we had at launch (80? I can't remember) and implement quests which have an extra 5 inventory slots as the reward.
I can see a lot of people disagreeing with our ideas of limited inventory, but I guess SE is the one at fault for creating a game which appeals to horders.
Instead they are giving us an additional 50 slots in the next patch. /sigh before long im guna need a search box just for my inventory lol
Yeah thats right, its happened to me before.
100/100 it doesn't open the chest, drop 1 item, reclick chest, obtain runestone.
Its probably going directly to inventory so that its unable to pass it off to someone since your leve your reward type deal from the loot list.
Reminds me of a time in FFXI. We went to get a bow for an LS friend from an NM. Everyone passed on the bow but a cactaur leg dropped to him taking his last inventory slot. The bow was lost.
Moral of the story, make sure you have plenty of space when going for something special.
This is one of the funnest things i heard as emptying you inventory is one of the key points to the game and you failed so missed out big time due to your lack of sorting your inventory and reading not reading information is given to you!
For all we know your talking a load of rubbish, As you said you played in a party you saw the item name yet read nothing else so it could have actually gone to someone else, So yes this is the funnest thing i have ever read some one complaining about the game when the fault is completely his own!
The UI is fine there nothing wrong with it apart from its missing its idiot proof protocol!
Anyone wonder if maybe he got crystals and not a rune and this is actualy a complaint that he didnt get a runestone?
