Kind of wishing Bards had kept Healer LB.

Ya i got Bismark in trial roulette yesterday. Near the end of the fight I jump on its back as dragoon and prepare to lb3 it to finish off the fight. Only to have a machinist beat me to it. He was half way across the platform when he did it and it didn't do any damage. So we didn't finish it off and had to go through another add phase because of it.

Well if no one else is using their LB, why should I hold back?

Is bard LB aoe? I'm asking because you said we should be using it with adds up. I play bard and haven't realized it's aoe but I don't understand your point if it isn't.

I still hardly use it though. I only get to use it if the other dps is a MCH or caster and we need single target. I haven't used it once in any dungeon/raid that requires more than four people.

I've got to agree, either using it at the wrong time, OR using it as soon as lvl 1 is charged because OMG WE CAN USE A DAMAGE LB.

Yeah, it's an AOE, a LINE aoe to be exact. However when you use it as a BRD/MCH, you may not realize this.

While I can understand most of the comments, I have to say that before Heavensward, the feedback threads here on the forums
mostly suggested "please SE change BRD LB to dmg".

I'd rather like BRD LB have the choice of either dmg OR heal, that's what I call support to the party.

Either by pressing LB icon once to pop a small window with two smaller icons (dmg / heal) or two seperate LB icons I can choose from.

Well, at least I kinda like the idea <(^_^; )

So who has the better aoe LB then, bards or casters?

Dumb post. Everyone misuses LB. Especially melee who won't do it until 1%.

It's funny because now that I'm leveling Machinist, I notice melee dps want ME to limit break. They say they love the way it looks xD

I guess I've been doing it wrong this whole time then. As a Caster 99% of the time I use the LB unless it's the last boss if there's a melee in dungeons.

It rarely ever fills when the first boss has been downed or usually just finished with like 5% left so I save it, have the tank do a big pull in the next area, and burn it then. It comes back after the second boss and I'll ask if they want to do it again. If not to get level 2 for final boss I won't use it, if they don't care, its another big pull with LB coming down hard.

Depends. If it's still a long way to go before the next boss fight, then you might as well use it and build up as you make your way to the next boss. You'd think people would do this more since everyone wants to speed run.

Monks lose all GL stacks, and it interrupts the super-tight DRG rotation, and pretty much every other job loses their buffs and debuffs during the cast. DPS LBs aren't a fast-cast like the Tank or Healer LB. You're basically sacrificing your next 30 seconds or so of damage output for one giant burst, so you want your next 30 seconds to not have to matter. There's also this thing called "saving it for the healers."

Lv1 and Lv2 healer LBs are beyond useless so there's no point in saving it for them unless you're in a full party raid where you can save up for Lv 3

I seen one use it in the vault in the 2nd boss, and completely missed the guy.
I was crying so hard in laughter. He stood there for like 5 seconds all dumbfounded.

LB's are not that big of deal though. In normal dungeons it's whatever.

Not only that, healer LB isn't quick either, at least Lv3 anyways. I'd bet about 80% of the time that a healer uses LB3 they WILL die locked in the animation while some mechanic or two is blowing up on them

Edit; Oh yeah, and then there's the hilarity that sometimes your dead DPS don't see that LB coming, healer instantly raises them and they just stand there and die. That one is more from not paying attention, though

I see that happen all the time on Ifrit HM where a DPS uses a LB and Ifrit trolls them by jumping off the screen.

I don't mind necessarily, but I do still have to get used to them not having healer LB anymore. Yesterday doing Ravana we were close to a wipe, I thought "Ah we have a bard, he can LB3 soon to get the healers back up" then realized they have a damage LB now. I was a sad bunny then :<

Personally I'd say BLM since theirs is a circle AOE, and can hit more enemies that way

Supposedly Ranged LB does moer damage than Caster LB. But I don't know if there's been any numbers to support this yet - would defnitely make sense, seeing as it's more "Focused" in that line.

Hopefully it's Melee > Ranged > Caster. Seems the most logical to me.

I know right? BRDs should totally just go back to the completely unused Healer LB because some newbies are not using their role-appropriate LB with 100% efficiency.

I personally loved being grouped with 2 BRDs and having no DPS LB to speak of. Great idea!!!!

That'd definitely make sense. But all I hear is BRD/MCH LB is complete crap, so I only ever really use it if the boss is at 20% or below and we have no MNK/DRG/NIN in the party

BRD/MCH LB is a pain in the rear sometimes because is a line that ...huh the caster cant even see (why?) let me press the LB and see the line and then click to cast it ._.

i used it on alex f1 and hitting both bosses did more dmg than melee on 1 :o

so BRD/MCH has potential on multitarget , mages for spread out targets will win (think ifrit nails)

you only "save LB" for bosses if there's a chance in wiping without the LB.

otherwise best time to use LB in most 4 man dungeons is on trash as soon as LB comes up. and if the the party is good, this is when you pull 2-3 packs at once and let the Caster/Range have at them.

24 man stuff is a little weird cause it keeps getting reset.

Ive been seeing people say that BRD LB is missing targets. How? Its not a placed AoE. It literally goes in a straight line between the BRD and the target. I didn't think you could miss any more than you could miss with a melee LB. Ive never missed with it once and it's not like I've had to aim beyond having the target targeted.

I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to try out mch lb3, but theres never a chance to since pretty much all the bosses are just single target so a melee always gets to use it :/ Theres times where I just want to hit it the second its up lol but I know better. One time I was paired with another mch, a smn and blm, thinking ":D I get the chance to use mine" nope, blm insta clicks it the second lb3 is up -.-

Just let the BRDs and MCHs have their fun with an LB that does damage.

It will all subside as the patch gets older.

Yep I wish we still had the heal lb. Idk about fcob, but it definitely has brought groups I joined to clears in shiva pfs back in the day.

If the new lb is same in terms of aoe and damage to caster lbs then I guess us brds can do that in raids instead of the casters now.

Well after two years of XIV:ARR, I can say that there were these 4 to 5 rare occasions where BRD LB3 Raise helped finishing the duty.

So why not have

BRD LB1 = dmg
BRD LB2 = dmg
BRD LB3 => choice between dmg and Raise

Don't ask me how this could be technically implemented tho. Maybe let BRD (or support classes in general) have two different LB icons.

Even if we do damage lb, it's to keep the BLM attacking, so it's support then too.

I'd like to add my voice as a bard that waits for the right opportunity to use our shiny new limit break correctly lol ... though one time I was vain and tossed it out for damage's sake when I could during a Ravana fight because all of the other DPS were dead and the fight was almost over. Bard LB3 is glorious ;D

By 'Save' what I think they mean to say is that someone should only 'abstain' from using it in situations where it's pretty clear the current attempt will fail anyway even after the LB's damage is factored in. Example, boss at 50% HP, somehow healer and tank are dead (it happens)' and LB bad pings because it's ready. No point isn't it now, just to have boss reset anyway once you wipe from no tank/heal. That way it's ready at start of next fight.

In the fights where if you don't pull with an LB, it drains and goes to waste, I'll tell the party just ahead of the boss we should let bard/MCH pull with their long line lb since it would drain anyway and might as well use it. If I pulled boss on SMN like that because no MCH/BRD available, more of the damage would be spread across empty floor and wasted. I got a MCH to use it that way for her first time in party chat in Praetorium the other day so she could have the practice and everybody could see how doing so works. Tank pulled anyway as she LB'd ended up draining her bar and she lost it after a millisecond line AOE that was interrupted by idiot tank's drain.

I dont miss people dying as soon as I pop it, because of weakness and bad dps.
Healer lbs are just a sign of a bad group in general.

I'd say give them time. As I career bard myself, Ive learned to just ask if I can use it before a fight, and wait til the last 5-15% before popping it.
And, granted, while I have yet to have had a chance to use the glorious LB3 (although I want to so so badly), mainly because I respect that melee lb3s are more useful for boss battles, and there just isnt a fight yet for a aoe lb (atleast with HW content. I havnt done much arr content yet. I would assume that Levi ex and Mog ex would give that opportunity, however.). Give it til atleast 3.1, before QQing for a reform- especially since a proper lb has been the single most requested thing from bards since atleast 2.3...

I'm reading this as "more incoming wipes in 24 man content than usual". I can't even begin to count the number of wipes I prevented with that bard LB3 in the various CT raids. I usually ran bard in CT content since I geared my tank and healer classes with other content, but I really don't want to step into the new 24 man without an ability that can singlehandedly save the group.
