Thavnairian Bustier - evidence that SE adores Gil sellers.

First off: Only 18 million? Remind me to transfer to your server. They go for at least 70mil on Sargatanas. How do I know? My friend just sold two today. Know what he's done all but two days since the expansion dropped? Craft and gather like a mad man all day, every day.

I know tons of people that have more than enough money to buy these things that have gotten rich from legit things like crafting/gathering and selling runs. So just because you haven't taken the time to level a non battle job and put it to work on the markets or gotten really good at a battle job and put it to work in the party finder doesn't mean that the prices these items are being listed for are unfair. You're paying for the prestige of being one of the first owners of the items plus all of the time these people have put into their craft to make them. It's like someone complaining about the prices an artist asks for their commissioned works, or complaining about someone building them a table. You pay them because they have skills you don't and you want what they can make.

You are not entitled to have every item dropped in your lap just because you play the game.

Glamour is the true endgame.

Why would they make the best looking glamour easy to obtain? Stop blaming SE for you being lazy, I don't buy gil and I've crafted three of these now (one for me and the other 2 for my friends who did the maps with me), level up weaver and do maps like the rest of us and stop being so entitled.

The price will plummet in a couple of months anyway.

the way i read it is , yes the item is beautiful and on my server there is only one for 90/60 and 40 million gil (and i think one sold for 30 million gil) which is obsessed you could buy a house on this, the chances of someone getting this item is insanely low. now what about levelling, ok lets assume this player is a lvl 1 weaver (i assume its weaver lvl 60 and a 1 star at that) ok lets see, in order to have a cat in hells chance of crafting this means this person will need o either craft every possible item and have all the best gear to do so, that way he can get to lvl 60, or use levels until they are level 60, but they still need to craft/ buy (not sure what the script system is yet) to get the BIS crafting gear to even come close of crafting, then they need to complete a mission for hard to obtain minerals to unlock the ability to craft, but wait theres more, the materials com from hidden maps from heavens ward, assuming he dosnt buy one, this is RNG, and to gather them he needs to be a level 60 GATHERER. so thats another class to level to 60 on MAX to have a chance of getting pure RNG items that drop from PURE RNG items, and to be frank to anyone who is still levelling there crafters that is obsurd.


when it comes to glamour, there has only been a very few objects that is available to the 'everyman' cheep glamor, and not much of them have much thought put into them, thick glasses small glasses rimless glasses a suit a sack (the brides maid stuff looks like a sack D: ) and ignoreing event gear there is not a lot of low level glamour/vainity items available to everyone in comparison to high level crafted vanity items.

and before anyone goes 'wahh people don't wanna work there just entitled' just remember if your up there grate you have a monopoly and you can get insanely rich from being insanely rich, but to people who are poor in this game or under leveld theres no chance to get up there and by the time they do it would already be pushed so far under new things that they could just buy it off the market bored if the flavour of the glamour fades from eye.

also 'playing the game dosnt mean your entitled' is a piss poor attitude, to people who do want to dress up but cannot afford or have time to do so, a mix of easy to get glamour and hard to get glamour would make everyone happy at the end of the day, we even have a shop made up in game that sells vanity gear that has not been touched since the eternal bond was put in.

*hum* ask for a low level vanity that can be crafted by people who arnt level 50 4 star or level 60 so we can have more unique looks in game that are more easily accessible then the current RNG and i am 'entitled' HO Hummmm

spring dress: 700K / 200K
coeurl bikini 1million / 300K / 100k (heavy undercutting)
Male tea leaf bikini top / 600K /500K
The male bikini with the tattoo 600K /100K (due to high demand)
Female ti leaf bikini: 1 million / 999K /500 K (heavy undercutting)
female red bikini 2.3 million / 1.4 million

dancer outfit male 23million
dancer outfit female: 90 million


the prices has jumped up by insane amounts since theres a lot of gil around, but the people with the gil are mainly raid run sellers or crafters.

when items are put in the game to be accessed though BIS gatherer though items that appear as PURE RNG then those maps themselves are RNG to get the items, there value is placed at high by SE. making something harder to obtain makes it worth more, if a item is common the value drops. granted SE arnt making it worth the 18 million op is saying. but the rarity that SE put on it gives it the feel of worth to the crafters and gatherers. which SE do decide upon

its quite alright phones are bad. but i aint saying to change your end game, but to add options to those who are not at end game crafters to craft some glamours say a level 30 glamour shirt from weaver a level 16 leatherworker can make a hat, stuff like that so there is a bit more vanity for the lower end of the crafting spectrum and theres still the rare glamours at the top.

TL: DR

o Crafting gear being absurd to obtain at this time inflate the price of a item. the items to craft being gated bhind RNG behind another RNG

o there should be some items available to low level people though the already in-game vanity shop at set gil prices. that way people who don't have the millions to buy one item can still dress up in a way that looks pleasing

o the high gil price and the high amount of gil in the game currently, cause players to feel like unless they are millionsares they won't get anything with crafters raid sellers, and 1.x players monopolising the markets on most servers.

o in 3.0 alone the new vanity item is almost x10 in price to the vanity that came before it.

o the mentality of people and the attitude that follows is quite appalling to be honest.

o the high amount of gil in this game, that is being pushed around do not tend to leave those who have the most. additionally, the gil in the game has reached such a high number i can compare it to zimbabwe or the hyper-inflatoion of post world war I Germany

It's not as though crafting and gathering just came out with Heavensward, it's not like it's news to anyone that crafters usually make the pretty glamour gear, everybody knows that crafters and gatherers makes lots of gil too. Where am I supposed to sympathize with the op?

By the way I'm far from rich; I have 2.5 mil (nothing on a legacy server) and I'm currently thirsting after these items as much as the next joe-bob. Know how I've reacted? I've encouraged my friend to keep up the good work and am making plans to power level my gatherers as soon as I've got my blm gear bis in the next several days. I'm getting ready to work for the rare items that I want.

Also I've made nearly a million gil since heavensward dropped and judging by multiple posts on tumblr I'm not alone in this.

It's not that absurd, tons of crafters around who can do this stuff already on multiple classes and the game has been officially out for what? A week? It just takes dedication, like leveling a regular job and farming dungeons for drops. What would it be like if a person who only crafts and gathers sat here and complained about certain dungeon drops they need for crafting the best items being gated from them because they didn't want to put work into leveling a battle class? You'd probable have a "...duh" reaction.

You're complaining about having to do exactly what I did, I levelled my weaver to 60 and all crafts to 15, and ground out my master book, bought every possible map with my two friends that was on the market for under 200k, desynthed all of the cheep quest gear to get weaver matts while i leveled, it cost me all of my leves and about 5 days of grinding to do it, but I managed and some how crafted what I think was the second one on my server. So yes, you are entitled, if you want something, work for it, it's a bit easier if you have people to share the cost of the maps with sure, but it's still doable solo.

By the way, the price is justified, each silk sells for 3mil, it takes three to craft then the other mats aren't the cheapest either, it's also the hardest weaver master craft to produce. You complaints are like a fresh 50 complaining about not being able to do final coil in 2.5. You have to grind in this game to get the rewards.

As a side note, I loooove glamour! It's probably tied for my favorite part of the game. Up until a month ago the only job I had leveled to 50 was my BLM with all of my other classes under 30 but I still managed to earn the nickname "glamour king" during my time in this last cycle of Eorzea's Next Top Model. There are lots of things for people to wear to make their characters pretty. And if they have Heavensward they'll get like 5 new sets of cute outfits handed to them by the msq and sidequests in each zone. Plus all of the sets from the six new dungeons. There are plenty of things poor people can afford to get to look good. As I mentioned above, I'm not exactly rich, but I can still look beautiful.

And if they really want to have a steady income they can either start leveling crafting/gathering (tons of low level items are still very profitable in large amounts and to others leveling) or they can go out and put in the time to farm materials from killing monsters and sell them on the mb. Dragon skin and Dhalmel saliva have both made me a couple hundred thousand each in the last two days and all I did was send my retainers on hunts for them then toss them on the board when I had around 45nq. It's not hard to make money, all they need to do is put in a little effort.

so I will freely admit I read two of the five pages of this topic. Let me streamline my opinion on this for people who think this is... SE's way of promoting gil sellers?

They don't set the market price of items. Players do. If you don't want to pay what your server community has deemed acceptable for a commodity, you're perfectly free to go make it yourself. Every single one you see on the market for that price you dislike was made by someone who had to work at a rate they consider the current price to be worth. I'd be frankly a lot more miffed if they took direct control of the market to make NPCs sell them, because it would deny me as a crafter my relevancy. And make a lot of people's hard work invalidated.

Sucks that you're broke. If you can't pay in gil, you're gonna have to pay in effort. Or make some good crafter friends. And don't blame SE for human nature, it's not something they can control.

18m is cheap even for my server, and as a former behemoth player I know the economy there is like 3 times more inflated so if you can't make 18m on behemoth you truly aren't trying.

exactly that.. expansion just released theres really a ton of ways to make money fast.. problem is majority of gamers these days expect everything on a silver platter with little or no effort at all

For me, on my server. The only issue I have is that people are actually buying it at 50 million... and that's 50 million for each part, not the entire thing. That's what is sending off warning bells to me and makes me assume people are buying gil and that the gold sellers are pitching a tent.

I've received 34 gold selling pms in the last 3 hours and constant friend request to the point that I just really could not be bothered to decline it anymore.

But yous are right that its the community that sets the price, ..its SE that sets the level of rarity.

Its just sad to see that the only thing keeping crafters afloat is glamour items.. ¬¬

Im just glad im a dude who like the free quest gear, but after looking at this even I want it just to have.

And then in a couple of months, you see Thavanarian set everywhere. Same ole same ole...

One reason they're overpriced right now is everyone had to stop and level blacksmith/goldsmith/armorer for airship parts instead of their planned specializations. And, you know, leveling that instead of doing the MSQ. I'm a career goldsmith and I'm only at 54 because I'm having to level miner at the same time to avoid going broke while leveling!

Supply and demand economics 101. Short supply + high demand = outrageous prices. Fat Cat was 10 million gil on our server at one point. I picked him up when he dropped to two million.

Just wait, I'm telling you prices will go down. I'm on Excalibur people are buying them for crazy prices. You need 3 silks and some other stuff, but the silk cost the most, they come from the new maps. Give it time for more gatherers to get leveled up and get access to the hinterlands (dunno if they come from other zones). I really want the body piece, it looks nice on my MNK, but I'm not paying 12 mil for a glamour piece. I could, but no. Most I ever spent for glamour was 1mil on a body piece. Just wait.

1. One of the best looking Vanity.
2. It's new, it's going to be high as all hell...just like any new item in game and real life.
3. Prices will go down in time.
4. Material's are hard as hell to farm.

Regardless of the stats, if you want something then you have a goal. And you start to work to reach that goal (earn gil, level up crafter). If you don't want to put in the work needed to reach that goal, don't set it as your goal

Yea like some said earlier glamour is the true end game (being sarcastic), but really from what I heard it not hard to make but the mats are stupid hard to get a hold of which is what people are mad about. Also from what I hear is the mats come from new treasure maps which means pretty high chance you won't even get the mats you want.

So long the demand is higher then the supply it will never stop. SE can fix it with bringing vanity items that have low demands from the start (ugly vanity as an example) ^^

Why you blame SE? Gil sellers and outrageous pricing are due to players. No one else makes a ridiculous farce of the market board. Shellfish greed drives the markets, which is caused by players and crafters. Rmt actually do us a favor by undercutting items down for the rest of us to afford.

pretty sure the fact that run selling isn't bannable is evidence that se are not serious about taking action against RMT. That guy on odin was selling ravana 12.5m each....come on that's slap in the face obvious x-x And when u ask these ppl how they think their buyers raise the money, same answer every time " crafters xD" pls...

Uhh... if crafting was the source of BiS gear, I think you (and others of the same opinion) would still complain that it's too much work/gil. Or if there were crafted good looking mounts. The whole point of having crafting in the first place is for it provide exclusive and desired items. It has nothing to do with RMT, but basic game design. If the crafted items were not desired by you and other players, the whole crafting system could as well be removed because it would be a pointless gil sink to level. You people are essentially complaining about crafters having anything meaningful to sell.

It's just supply and demand. It'll probably always be pricy, but it'll lower.

It IS really stupid to say, "well if you don't like it go and level weaver yourself!!!" as though that's all there is to it.

But yes, it's difficult to get to the point a) where you can make it and b) can acquire the mats to do so. ESPECIALLY stupid to say leveling crafting costs no money. Sure, if you want it to take a million years.

Do dragonskin maps, try and get silk yourself to sell or give to a crafter you know. I have all level 50 crafters but just can't be bothered anymore. Money goes to those who can, because yeah, it's not easy.

I hate those "HERE LOOK! AMAZING NEW CLOTHES" but... to bad >;P You need damn rare mats bahahaha.. =.=;

the 1st piece(not set) will be 10mill. yeah cool..... 40mill for a vanity set... that really makes poor people dealing with RMTs =.= nice...

As a new player, I've wondered the same thing about housing, which has a lot more of an effect on gameplay than a cosmetic dress, as beautiful as that dress is. Housing is completely out of reach as a new player. Even if there were any plots available, the prices are so far out of reach that I've wondered whether they are aware that folks would be tempted to buy gil so that they could buy a housing plot, or if SE even cares.

It's sad really.

You are entitled to nothing.

Things like relic needing expensive materials and materia (which could still fail) is probably one of the biggest contributor to gil buying.

Though I suppose it's nice to have something to look forward in obtaining and this atleast gives gatherers/crafters something to do

As other's have said, there arent that many lv 60 crafters/gatherers yet and the game has been out for roughly 2 weeks.

Most players with a house got the gil from other players by selling stuff.
Of course a new player don't have enough money for a house. He haven't started the market game yet.

there will always be a market for HQ gear that is marginally better than what you can get with tomestones.

my only problem is the silk, you are forced to go with a group for the maps and if someone steals the silk from you well geuss you are SoL until the next time it drops

I don't think this confirms se loves Gil sellers, more like they love their top tier crafters. They always have, from patch to patch, and now with the expansion which isn't surprising. Most fc's have some high tier crafters who will make stuff for free for you if you just give them the mats. I'm not too happy about it either, but I'll eventually get my hands on them. Most likely after everyone else, but that's usually how it is for me with the new shinies.
