Amazon does the same thing on pre orders (at least EU), they bill when it ships. There is a difference between release and shipment. You seem to expect that the game won't ship before it's release...

If SE assumes a 5-10 shipping period - and they want you to have the CD/DVD to install the game when 3.0 goes live (some time before early access), then you can easily expect that shipment will start early June.

As someone who has pre-ordered several items from the NA SE store in the past, they always charge 2-3 weeks ahead of time to ensure payment can be processed, even if it is declined at first, to allow the customer to rectify any issues and receive their item(s) on time (the release date).

I have no problem with this. i had the money day 1 of preorders

I have a question about that. I selected PayPal to pay for it but all it asked me to log in and confirm but it didnt allow me to select how to pay. Its automatically set up for bank account payment but for a purchase like the CE (168$) I want to use the Visa attached to the account. When it comes time to pay are they just going to debit the account or will they send me a link saying "please complete your payment". It's ok either way, I'm just hoping I can change it.

There are multiple shipping options. There would not be a reason for said options if they were going to ship the games out before release so everyone got them on release date. Speaking from experience, SE does not ship until the official day of release. It's the same stupid way GameStop operates. I say stupid for GameStop because as the world's largest video game retailer you'd expect that they'd at least try and compete with Amazon and other companies that do make sure games arrive on the release date. Oh and let's not forget that there is ABSOLUTELY no reason for SE to ship "early" so our games arrive on release day when those of us that pre-ordered will have early access to the game digitally.

Yes, its legal.:P I order plants from mail-order nurseries all the time. They don't ship until its good to plant them in your area, but most charge when you place the order.

Still no email here in the UK. Is this a US thing?

No, sorry, I haven't really saved the sources, because I don't think they have gone out with it on their site or something.

If you go into your paypal settings and set the default payment method to your Visa before SE charges the account for your pre-order, then it should charge the Visa instead of taking the money from your bank account. Then after the charge goes through you can switch your settings back to your bank account :)

I see what you're thinking but all my other emails in the last 3 years are titled Scheduled Payment Notification, and this one followed my pre-order and was titled upcoming payment. You may be right though, guess either way i have to wait and see.

I bought the digital pre-order. And I paid through paypal at the time, so I'm not sure what they charged, it didn't let me choose. But I did receive an email stating they would charge me at a later time when my pre order was processed. They gave me a pre order code right away though, and I put it in on the site and received the other code which I recently put in on the mog station for early access. So my account actually says Heavensward Early Access but I still have never seen a charge for it. What happens if the charge doesn't go through? Will they just cancel my account even though I was able to register the codes already?

Ummm I have an issue with all of this o.o.... I purchased the pre-order through SE's store but I never got any notification stating that I will be charged on the first... so ummm what? Am I going to be charged or not? I never got any kind of notification :[

Might just be physical copies that will get charged earlier (since they have to ship it out, technically your order has been processed at that point.) Digital doesn't matter as much since they can just charge around release or before early access and still get the money and just email you the code or however they want to do it.

I pre-ordered the digital CE from SE as did my gf, and no notice of payment charge yet.

So I have a big problem with being charged on June 1st. First off according to the information SE gave out while pre-ordering Heavensward, it shouldn't be happening this early!

June 1st is NOT a few days before my pre-order is being delivered! According to SE:


"* Early access is scheduled to start on Friday, June 19, 2015. Please note that there is a possibility of maintenance taking place during the early access period."


A few days is 3 to 4, so at the earliest people should be charged is the 15h of June. This charge is happening for some a whole 2 weeks earlier than it was told by SE to pre-order buyers it will take place. A lot of people get paid on a two week basis, and, if like me, they got this new email about the June 1st charges going out after they already allocated their pay check to pay bills, etc., this is a big issue.

SE I'm holding you accountable to the information you provided us on pre-order.

Understand what they mean by preparation? It's not like 3 days before release they will go ok let's see which people can actually pay and charge them now, they are preparing early. For all we know the orders could be shipped as soon as next week and arrive a few days before release so that people who did order online don't have that awkward period of waiting for their box copy to arrive.

Why would you preorder something without having the money to buy it? And if you knew you had a grace period, why would you not save for it?

People just don't know how to save money these days.
