Samurai (tank)
Beastmaster (tank)
Red Mage (melee DPS)
Geomancer (caster DPS or healer)
Chemist (healer)
Green Mage (healer)
Oracle/Mystic (healer)
I'd like to see a healer that focuses more on potent HoTs and buffs than big heals. :p
Samurai for sure, would love to see a shapeshifting class.
Gunblade job. Gunblade gunblade gunblade gunblade. Not Lightning's transforming sword either. Wanted it ever since FFXI. Could even have it branch off the musketeer guild and be pirate ish or base it around Garleamald. Only Squall, Seifer, and Lightning have used this weapon, tho Lightning doesn't really count since her weapon transforms from sword to gun. So it could be an FFXIV original job. PLEASE make this happen SquareEnix.
Blue Mage.
Come on!
Red Mage!!!
Combine RDM and BLu into a Purple Mage!
Seeing as DNC is my fave job in XI. Would love to see how they apply it to FFXIV.
Some form of engineer that uses Magitek.
As others have said; Samurai, but..
Would like to see it taken as a Melee dps debuffer/support.
For the shape shifting people...Tactics Advance had the Morpher job so its within the realm of possibilities, it would actually be pretty neat to have something like
Gathering type class
Beastmaster/Tamer (Captures Open World monsters to put in a farm, this would allow things like skins and leather to be harvested at a predetermined non-game breaking rate without having to camp monster spawns)
Combat type class
Morpher (utilizes creatures captured and on the farm to gain abilities by morphing into those said monsters)
Yes it would be complex, but they could also do the same with Blue Mage this way, giving the Beastmaster/Tamer some additional functionality outside of selling those leathers/skins/furs.
As far as jobs I'd like to see:
RDM (Hybrid caster/melee DPS)
SAM (Tank)
DNC (Healer)
BST (Gather)
MOR (Healer)
TIM (caster DPS/support)
BLU (Tank)
I want to see everything from Final Fantasy XI come to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Let's face it, FFXIV wouldn't have been made if FFXI didn't start the MMO trek for Square-Enix. Make an expansion where we travel to Vana'diel and use that realm as our next endgame raids. Sky, Sea, Limbus, Salvage. DOOO IIIT!
Dancer (healer) and Necromancer (caster DPS)
Red Mage as a 1h Sword and Board dps. Make it function as a Magic Knight/Sorcerer job. With elementally aligned strikes that grant free instant cast spells. Otherwise it's just a crappy fighter/mage/healer that's required an OP ability that tends to be better when used by another Job.
Blue Mage as a hybrid. Able to slot abilities for each role, might make it OP for solo and world player, but in a party would have to specialise, or be that guy, you know, the SMN that runs with Titan-egi in a raid.
We'll never see Time Mage, since it was just made by ripping different buffs from WHM/BLM. Plus haste as a buff just tends to be a game-breaker and would require balancing around, which would remove the awesomeness of it as you'd be assumed to always have it. Green Mage falls under the same category as Time Mage of being cobbled together from WHM/BLM.
redmage, bluemage and a real summoner please.
A tank class that looks like this:
http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2...sas_Arvina.jpg
-One more for red mages. They look fabulous
-Another vote for Saumrai as I love far eastern stuff Especially japanese
- +1 for Dancer as they don't sound like a class that can be done and I'm curious how yoshie-p would tackle the challenge. What would be the main weapon? Maybe it will be another doman class and we will get a fan as a weapon. We actually saw dancer outfits in the last live letter but those were probably just for glamour.
- Aaaand vampires. In bravely default the role of the blue mage was filled by vampires. They were hard to get, insanely powerful and provided a good explanation for stealing stuff from the enemy. And come on, vampires are awesome.
As for non combat classes, I don't know.
Some beast tamer would be nice for DoL classes but it would only make sense for those with a house. We need to put the tamed beasts after all.
Same problem for engineer. It would make sense now that we have a machinist, but no other class would benefit from it.
The main weapon wouldn't be too difficult. Fan or baton would be the most likely, though since they use their legs, bangles and anklets could also be possible.
And the concept wouldn't be too difficult to come up with either. The recent reveal of how AST will work has given rise to the thought that they're experimenting with classes that can change roles, so a DNC might very well be a candidate for a job that can switch between heals and melee DPS.
Many are hoping for a TP-based healer, which would be the "simplest" solution, though i can only imagine how tricky it would be to develop.
The mechanics of MCH and AST are definitely indicative that SE isn't slacking off and making "simple" jobs.
Yeah so fan it is. I soo wanna see a Lala beat the crap out of Titan with a paper fan :D
Sure, stat changing and TP consuption, but what of the dances themselves? Would they be chanelled abilities? Or just simply spells with a lot of hand gestures as casting animation? The player base would tear down the SE headquarter if the dancer doesn't feal like a dancer. I'm probably in the minority with my opinion that the bard is fine the way it is. The dancer could step into the same pitfall.
I don't know what is the best ratio tank/healer/DPS, but with Heavensward, there will be 3 tanks, 3 healers, 4 ranged-DPS and 3 melee DPS. Maybe the next jobs must be a tank, a healer and a melee DPS, starting by the melee DPS. I would like to see the Samurai as a tank, the Chemist as a healer (TP-based healer) and the Red Mage as a melee DPS, but with mechanics more like Mystic Knight and a mixt of spells (MP) and skills (TP).
The Astrologist sounds like a merge of Oracle with Gambler, so I don't think we are gonna to see this jobs. Time Mage and Green Mage will only get the same buff and debuff spells of the already existing DoM jobs, so it's not going to happen.
THF!
Oh... ;_;
Red Mage or Rune Fencer or Sword Master as DPS. Essentially a class to make use of the old elemental blades from so many final fantasies before us.
Attack skills like Flametongue, Ice Brand, Thunder Blade, Aqua Saber, Stoneblade, etc. Or make use of elemental enhancements to attacks like so many enemies have.
Green Mage is already in the game in the form of an Arcanists.
chemist! I wanna toss potions at peoples faces. !
I just put it as a tank to balance the trinity, honestly I would think it to be really cool if BLU could set certain spells and depending on what was set its roll in the party would change. Obviously once in an instance your abilities would have to be locked to prevent game breakers, but it would be a nice and new way to ultilize a job, the pay off would be that BLU would have to learn the spells in a manner that requires a bit more dedication than just doing quests.
But Samurai as a tank could be amazing!
Not gil, but real ones cultivating fields and rearing livestock.
Killing sheep and snurbles is morally ambiguous. I opt for shearing them instead!
Battleclasses:
Blue Mage
Samurai
Red Mage
I know the won't add blue mage which has me eternally sad. For samurai, I hope
it would be a DPS, but maybe they could do something different and give it a ghost/demon
theme, and has a haunted/cursed katana that fights along with them.
Gatherers:
Aetherist (gathers from aether points, corrupted items, animals with crystals on them,
new type of material for weapons/armor)
Transmuter (Transmutes actual locations using their nearby resources to make materials)
Puppetmaster (preferably with a Mammet because as much as I loved my Automaton in XI I love the little buggers on XIV more), Dancer, and Blue Mage would be very welcome in my book. Maybe something like a Shepherd for gathering so we could get skins and wool and the like without having to go out and maim cute little sheep.
Yeah pretty much. And Time Mage is Astrologian. So we can cross out those two. Thief will never happen either as Mug is already a rogue skill.
Unlikely to happen. Chemist has only one recognisable ability, which is not enough for a rotation. Plus you'll be required to use up your allagan coins, crafting materials and glamour sets for damage. This is the same problem why rogue didn't get throw.
It's a neat idea but it wouldn't work unless you have a house. I mean you need a farm to be a farmer.
Would it be different enough from egis, carbuncle, fairies and machinist turrets?
I can see a Red Mage and Blue Mage being added as a melee spell blade caster and a ranged caster.
Wow what a negative post, you have to understand that most parts of a game are pure aesthetics, otherwise we would still be playing text games, it doesn't matter if a job feels similar to another, they can always change the mechanic of a job, the only reason to implement something is to please the customers, most ftp MMOs have 1 class per role, i'm sure you can imagine how well they are doing
Also, i want RDM and BLU to be hybrid role, anything else would be like a downed version of them, they can balance an hybrid role np.
Here's how I would imagine Chemist as a healer:
Relic: Philosopher's Stone
Heal stance: Amalgamate: You only require 1 of the necessary item for it will duplicate it and enhance its effect based on your mnd stat
Heals: Potion (cure 1), Hi-Potion (dot heal), X Potion (cure 2), Mega Potion (Cure 3), Elixir (restores 50% hp/mp for 1 player long cd), Hi-Elixir (100% hp/mp cure for 1 player, very long cd)
*Also use the Ether variants i.e Ether, Hi-Ether, X Ether, Mega Ether with similar effects but is off cd with each getting progressively longer i.e. 30, 60, 90, 180.
Raise: Phoenix Down (30 seconds cd but instant cast)
Support: Antidote, Cactuar Needle, all other previous FF items that cure specific ailments, etc
Chemist moves:
Duplicate: Resets timer for one skill allowing for skill to be used again (180 secs)
Mischief: Dps stance. Lowers effect of healing potions used and enhances Throw skills.
Throw skills: Uses PvP potions to inflict harm on enemies
Lead Potion: Prevents knock back for 1 player including yourself.
Throw Stone: Throw stone, blind and heavy effect
Grenade: Stronger version of Throw stone, no effect
Scent Bomb: Causes enemies to run to a targeted spot and stay there until attacked or timer runs out.
I would see Chemist as an aggressive healer with tons of support options and would most likely be a staple in Caster heavy parties. Focuses on raw heals rather than barriers or mitigation. It would be the only class to have a "Satchel" in the Inventory which allows players to put the required potions needed for battle and cure mp for players without suffering the long cd timer for using items. Uses tp for most of it skills with mp only being used for self buffs like Duplicate. The Relic is the Philosophers Stone, which given its lore, suits well with the Chemist and its Amalgamate and Duplicate traits.
This is all my opinion so take or leave it.
Id like to see the blue mage as a job for lancer, the story fits really well in my head haha, like the focus on learning your enemies tactics to help uncover the ancient art of blue magic (or somthing like that).
And were getting the dark knight so how about the onion knight? could be an extra job for the gladiator class with a rediculas amount of cross class abilities, and just think of how good the relic armor would look =0.
Also about a gunblade job, i imagine like, learning garlean skills from an old friend of cid (who may or may not be called Seifer). Not sure what the job should be called or what class it should go with (maybe a shieldless dps gladiator job?) but itd be based on the idea of if the garlean empire had its own version of SeeD mercinaries =P.
I really wanna see Mystic Knight as a sword DPS
Only thing I wanna see is Blue Mage and maybe a true summoner not a demonology/affliction warlock clone.
