Any chance we could get a new "Legacy-mark" for the pre-Heavensward Event? =D

And your point is? Nothing you bolded has anything to do with the tattoo. There were many perks given out for being a legacy member, but that tattoo wasn't. The tattoo is the calamity survivor tattoo/legacy mark and it appears on every character that was created during 1.0's life span as they "survived the calamity".

What bugs me about the Legacy Chocobo is that it has the legacy brand on its beak however it did not get sent forward in time 5 years and thus should not have the brand. The description says how it looked for you for 5 years. Another thing he is your first chocobo from 5 years ago yet you get another chococbo to basically replace him and this chocobo can fight with you. Would you really replace your faithful servant from 5 years ago?

It has everything to do with the tattoo, there were 1.0 players that weren't eligible for the tattoo so not every player got one.

People without legacy status did get the tattoo, however. If you created a character in the lifespan of 1.0, your 1.0 character did have the tattoo. If it didn't, it was a glitch. Heck, I even loaded up my 1.0 character just to check and I'm far from legacy, and I have it. Any character created in 2.0, be it by someone who has legacy status or simply someone who bought the game 1.0, will not have the tattoo.

I accidentally wasted a fantasia trying to figure out how to get rid of my legacy tattoo. Click the wrong button to exit after I couldn't find how to get rid of it.

And being on a non-legacy server, no one else seemed to know what it was. I eventually found out how to turn it off.

Anyways, blah blah blah legacy players are special snowflakes, Heavensward isn't a remake of a failed game, but it'd be nice to see something additional for being a pre-Heavensward thing. Lore-wise, Midgardsormr could decide to brand you with something.

In the end, it's just another thing I'd have to figure out how to turn off.

Uh, the Legacy mark is easy to turn on or off at will, it's just the text command '/legacymark off' to hide it, and 'legacymark on' to show it. No need to recreate your character if that's all you want to change.

As I said, I figured it out in the end. The reason I used the fantasia was because I thought it may have been something I accidentally clicked on in character creation.

I'd rather this not happen, not because I wanna feel special but 1.0 transition was something that won't happen again. This expansion is an addition, not a transition. The world wasn't torn apart like the events from 1.0, I'd like the memory of this game being given new life not be cheapened because some of the player base are jealous since they didn't support the game back then.

So no, no tattoo or anything else for going through 2.*

I dunno about a legacy type tattoo for players going into Heavensward. I mean you're just getting more game to play, we had a meteor land on our heads.

What bothers me the most is... I cannot use legacy barding on my new chocobo >_>

Sure I can use my legacy chocobo, but come on SE at least give me the RP option to believe the chocobo companion I bring out is my old Legacy bird. (I don't even RP but still muh feels.)

I forgot I even had a legacy tattoo. It would be cool if the 2.0 players got something before 3.0 hits but I don't think the move is going to be as life/game changing as 1.0 - 2.0 was. I don't even remember that I have that tattoo half of the time. The thing I was most salty about was the introduction of a goobbue mount in 2.0. The goobbue mount in 1.0 was ungainly, you had to change the camera angle around all the time and even then it was still a pain to ride and see where you were going. Honestly they could give away all the legacy items I don't care, da discounted sub though,

The Goobbue mount wasn't ever legacy-only. It was a limited event item available during 1.0. It's completely unrelated to the legacy campaign.

I'm not even a legacy player, and I agree with him.

We don't need anything, we already have veteran bonuses. Don't crap on the 1.0 riders so you can have your gold star for doing nothing but playing the game. I mean...they didn't do anything either, but seriously, we don't need anything.

OP Clearly missed the point of the tattoo to begin with. It's for those who stuck with the game when it was failing horrifically. Not as a veteran reward.

The game could use more one-time events though, tbh. Those always attract a lot of attention and are good about giving players something to feel special about. Maybe not something like the legacy tattoo, but maybe a face paint option like the bat one from halloween, or a special scar option. Yeah I'm with ya here. My original main was a lalafell, and I wanted to play a Roe, on a NA server . . . and I hadn't even checked my lalafell for the tatoo until recently actually. It would be nice if it applied the tatoo to all of our characters. Maybe in this way, people can see that it's not just people getting rewarded for being loyal to the game, but it's also incorporated into the lore, for good reason.

Even though people don't see my Legacy status, those that are still playing their original characters deserve it, and I wouldn't want to trifle that.

...all that said, I do remember Yoshi mentioning something about wanting the transition to Heavensward be about as big/significant as Bahamut's appearance was at the end of 1.x. Not sure where exactly (can't be bothered to keep track of all the events), but he definitely said something along that line - then again... /point <signature> ...so, who knows what happened to that. I do agree that an item or some such would be nice - for people who actually have been along the ride since launch. That's the only way I see it make sense the same way as the Legacy concept does (which is, yes, I know, different; but the core idea feels about the same, I think).

And uh, excuse you, but whoever said "idiocy"? I hope you'll never again get to enjoy something that was made possible, even if only in the tiniest fraction of the whole, by such "idiots" - try as you want to downplay it, the way the team/company made their respect known speaks volumes.

Don't expect a big primal showin up destroying the realm and the servers get shut down for months until a new FF XIV is ready.

It's called the Battle of Ighgard and it's still on the way. We DO have a 2.55 that is going to have more story after all. Patience.

Also, the transition to heavensward is not justification for another "legacy" tattoo. It completely misses the point of the legacy tattoos to begin with. They weren't handed out for finishing the story. That was never the point at all.

Status-symbols are an important part of MMO's, and even if it's one of those things that "everybody has" initially, it could eventually become something cool.

However, should the fact that those things exist automatically preclude any possibility of introducing *new* rewards? We know that the Battle of Ishgard is supposed to be a big deal -- maybe not "the world getting destroyed" big deal, but still pretty big -- so why not make this a new tradition? At long as the rewards are different, it only adds to the game.

What we have here is someone who wants to perpetuate elitism through the ranking. We've already had plenty of jealousy and issues with the transfer from 1.xx to 2.0. We don't need it with every patch. Please let sleeping dogs lie on this. The veteran rewards and quest rewards are rewards for going through ARR.

When ARR first came out, it was almost a negative brand in the community to have a Legacy Mark due to the jealousy, the tension was actually palpable. I do not want that to continue - nor endorce a prepetuation of some sort of veiled elitism based off seniority.

The issue is that Yoshida is a walking hype machine, but Koji-Fox, XIV's resident loremaster, has mentioned in a few places that they can't really pull anything in-game that would have a major ripple effect on the existing quests. So it'll be something major, but also have little to no effect on the setting.

I'm expecting something similar to Revanant's Toll's upgrades happening to Ul'dah, since Ishgard will be accessible even without completing the 2.55 story. But it could also be the "Battle of Ishgard" that brings Ishgard into the Eorzean Alliance, and in the expansion they'll just be frosty bastards whose borders aren't closed.

I am personally against this. To me, the Legacy mark was a reward for the dedicated players who went through 1.0, through thick and thin, and reached this juncture of the game. Providing a new "Legacy mark" type tattoo, even in facsimile, would greatly diminish the value of said 1.0 Legacy Mark.

I believe I'm one of the few who agree with you. As I said earlier in my previous post that seems to have gone completely unnoticed, I too would like to have something substantial and relevant to the plot that binds my character to the world. I don't want what the legacy players so fervently defend and brag about, I just want my own little thing as I too supported the game and gave it a chance to grow and become what it is today.

To be fair the mark does not say "that guy has been around for a while", it say's that guy was there when few people bothered to be. That is what a Legacy mark means, and why it should not be repeated. Im glad you think it's cool but i remember being told by friends and even random gamestop clerks that it was stupid to play a dead game.

I know they're viewed as very taboo in Japan, but having tattoo options for our characters beyond their faces (similar to the South Sea Talisman) would be awesome

I'd be happy to have new tattoos in general. The system is capable of it

This is just another case of everyone wanting to feel like a special snowflake. Let the legacies have their tattoo, they earned it for sticking around a terrible game.

To answer the question, the legacy mark was there as a way of thankyou to people who stuck with 1.0, why should anyone get similar for supporting an expansion?

It wasn't though and that's been pointed out many times. It is a lore-related tattoo that anyone who created a character in 1.0 got. You could have played for a day during 1.0's launch, quit the next day, and then logged back in when ARR launched and that 1.0 character you created would still have that mark.

There is harm in it, there's people crying about Legacy, the Lightning Returns event, and then if you release THIS event, there's going to be people crying about how they weren't there for THAT one and that the people who were there for it don't deserve it.

When legacy was announced, people wanted 1.0 characters deleted.

you can darn sure expect a small group of people wanting that one time event reward, to want the players that went through it to be deleted or held back to suit them.

My problem with these players is, it was available for a time, during that time you brushed it off, why is it an issue now?

I wouldn't necessarily label that as actual harm though. There is always going to be players that complain about missing an event or missing and item, and I personally don't want that to limit the Devs in their choice one time events and one time event rewards.

I have never paid a dime in subscription fees for Legacy beyond the original box price, and 2 of my characters have legacy tattoos.

You have tattoos, but that doesn't mean you have "Legacy" I mean the actual status with the discounts and extra perks that came with it.

The beta threads for ARR and a few older threads in this forum, as few threads outside of this community too.
Also during launch there were a few legacy players that got booted from parties just because they were legacy

They got the same e-mail as the legacy players to get the exact same things.
