Each Legatus commands a Legion. Legatus Darnus commands the XIVth (lulz) Legion, so there oughta be I, II, III, IV etc. So they are two different persons.

Maybe the Rank 46 Legatus could be Gaius (VIIth Legion), or maybe he's the Legatus from another Legion. The only thing I'm 100% sure is, this whole Legatus thing brings me back to Final Fantasy XII, which I love.

And even if that is mostly clear, at the very least their relationships to each other are more complex than just one set of good guys on our side and one set of bad guys on the Garlean side.

This is all well and awesome, but it makes me feel that the story is starting to become more than a bit disjointed by introducing so many things at low ranks when there's a lot of stuff happening in the story at higher ranks that seems disconnected.

Another interesting thing is. It's said during "Into the Dark (Ul'dah)" that Nael is a tricky person, he used some decoys to fool his pursuers during the invasion of the Darkhold. When you complete the quest, the knight says that you slayed one of his decoys and retrieved his helm, but he wasn't Darnus.
Things are getting more and more interesting now, with Urianger, Garlemald and Cid... I just hope we don't have to wait too much for the next batch of main scenario quests.

That's it, I'm joining the Empire!

I helped save the Ala Mhigo and didn't even get a T-shirt.

...Legatus Darnus is a clone of Cable, and Cable is Cyclops's kid with Maddy Pryor, who is a clone of Jean Grey(but only because of a massive retcon).

Into the Dark in various place. Gridania version will mention Darnus is the XIVth Legion's Legatus (General). A Centurion commands Centuria, which is usually 100 men strong.

Though I would love to fight one, even if its in a story quest and you are meant to get slaughtered.

The one in the rank 46 quest was also wearing a gas mask as part of his armor I wonder if that has anything to do with the reason they are taking over out land.

Garlean armor is best armor.

"Judge"... I mean... "Legatus" Darnus seems to have some seriously elaborate armour there. I agree with you guys, there should be a quest or set of guildleves that will allow us to "relieve" him of that spiffy gear. True story.
