Removing the slot points is fantastic, and I'm very happy about that. Not sure about removing actual equipment slots as a result of it, though. I would be okay if they cut down 4 rings to 2, and left the rest.

You know...they didn't actually say slots are being removed
their main argument in a much older post was that they didn't want to eliminate slot cost because players already complain about inv space. I say let me manage my inv and just remove the cost. I didnt care if they kept a point system, but i have the same amount of points now as i did at rank 1, a point every even rank would have been good.
You currently can choose what items you wish to equip. You can choose whether you want 4 rings, 1 ring, 2 bracelets, an earring, etc etc, can you not? My question was simply why is removal of the system necessary? You can currently do what is being requested.
(Though the request isn't surprising considering the irrational logic exhibited on the forums daily, ie: The screw is stripped, fuck it, demolish the whole thing and rebuild it!)
i lol'ed at people who didnt read properly, they are not going to remove the slot equipment, only limiting to how many accessories, which by term is no different than accessory points in a way. which is actually silly. =.="

Awesome to hear Bay. While we are losing accessory slots (I admit 4 rings is excessive), he said that the accessories themselves are getting stat changes to make up for it. I think 2 earrings/2 rings/1 bracelet/1 earring would probably be fair.

i agree, i would love to wear them all, maybe not understanding what they mean since they always end up having to clear things up a second and third time in these threads>< i think they do it on perpos to see what the results are then change them as they go to make the majority happy since the game is being made to satisfy as many as possible and get as many subs in they can at launch. we must all be suckers lol.
i'm not worried bought inventory, but i sure am worried bout being bored with no gear to go set out to get or gear myself with. we will have retainers for 1 buck. buy em and u will be pleased.
also to add 4rings don't sound like alot. think bout it, they want to make craft gear just as important and relevent as mob drops and event drops. more slots makes this happen. 2rings to craft, 2 to get from events. 1 from a hnm, 1 from missions. 2 bracelets, 1 nm 1 craft and so forth. right?
i'd be happy with 12 charms on my necklace, 12 charms on each braclet lol, and words and inscriptions added into the rings to boot. and all that on top of materia. but i'm crazy like that lmao. :)
I can agree being able to wear your mask with a hood.
I interpret it as:
We have 9 accessory slots total. They could be like, "you may equip up to 6 accessories at one time" It will probably play out like that, just dont know how many slots they'll let us stick things in.

Just macro the gear off when you don't need it.
The only exception is weapons, since we can't walk around without one.
Make it so that higher rank accessories make a difference over lower ranked accessories.

Why not just make the slot points raise with level? "Because wasn't like this in FFXI" is the answer i guess...it's just a shame seeing SE allowing this...i just hope you guys are ready to see the game fail again at PS3 release.
If that's the case...just let everyone equip 6 accessories from all possibles...use slot cost as slot counter...6/6 = cannot equip any more accessories.
I want more earring slots! I would be happy even with two more earring slots.
I'd love to be able to have my miqo wearing four earrings or two on one ear and one earring on the other.

If you are lvl 50 i believe you can equip like 3 maybe 4 acc.. If they would make it that there are no slot costs but you can max equip like 6 then you would still have more equiped then with the slot cost :-)
I have all the slots, I want to fill them. I wanna wear jewelry and see my jewelry. I became a goldsmith because i LOVE accessories. But with current gear and the equipping limitation, rings are the best thing to wear for whatever I'm doing, so I can never see myself wearing earrings and bracelets and a necklace...
I don't see why they can't just let us fill all slots and NOT increase their effectiveness. It doesn't make any sense at all. One of the biggest complaints about the slot cost was that we can't ever fill all slots.

I do not believe they will remove slots.Each slot is geared twards a specific role. Earrings elemental def/eva, rings stat boosts/acc... etc. What i think will happen as some have speculated is just limit how many can be equipped. 5 out of 9 as an example. Some stated it was the same as the point system.. but i beg to differ. Under the old system as a tank i could equip 2 mithril wristlets and a mithril chocker(for def). and that filled my points up. The advantage of the new system would be that a level 1 item is no different than a level 50 item when it comes to equipping. How many of you equip 4 silver rings instead of 3 electrum rings? The point system was limiting and counter productive. Keeping all the slots will still allow you to customize your stats depending on what job you play.
I said I don't want EITHER one of those. If they're talking about removing slots, I don't want that. If they're talking about limiting slot use (its still slot cost, isnt it?), I don't want that either. They're talking about boosting effectiveness of accessories to make up for it; but I don't see why they can't allow us to fill all the slots and compensate by NOT boosting the effectiveness of accessories.
Isnt lowering the amount of accessories you can equip the same as have AP's on it? It would only make a difference if you actually would remove certain accessorie-slots, which would be honestly a very bad thing to do.
Why not remove accessorie-points and lower the effect of some accessories? Or actually just balance it.. not that there is "uber-gear" anyways. Earrings are most likely crap in General, Wristlets are HP/MP, Neck are Stuff like Acc/Atk, Rings are Attributes like STR/DEX etc.. there is only a need of balancing it, after removing AP's. There is NO NEED of limiting it, or remove Itemslots. That would be a Step in the wrong direction.

If all they do is get rid of 2 ring slots, I'd be fine with it.
I always thought the extra rings were a bit goofy looking when you see them in-game.
2 Bracelets, 2 Earrings, 2 Rings, and a Necklace are more than enough IMHO -- esp. after things get rebalanced and they become more impactful.
You can bet on this...i can't see ANYTHING that is enough of an excuse for such change...
Even "Because FFXI was like this" isn't enough! I want to be free to choose which slots i want accessories equipped WITHOUT being penalized for not having something equipped in a certain slot...

I'm excited about this. The whole notion of having 9 accessory slots but only being able to equip a portion of them all while being able to care 100 pieces of inventory (some being stacked to 99) was just bizarre...

Ive been wanting Acc. slot cost removed since day one but if its going to result in less Acc. slots all together then id honestly rather have slot cost.
the reason is because of customization. certain accessories offer different types of stat boosts (obviously) so if we have a small handful of slots then wed be more able to accommodate our current situations needs by slightly boosting particular stats.
Right now my R13 PGL has four accuracy rings which is not only what he needs atm, but also what i (as i feel should be right) choose to spec my character into for my personal playing style.
Even with the stat boosts coming in 1.19 it still minimizes a players opportunity to customize their character. Because of this i hope that future accessories will mimic other's stats.... meaning- if i choose to focus on dex, then just like every other game there should at least be a few pieces in each category that have dex. customization per play style people, its everything in todays MMO.
I would give up all the current ACC slots for goggles, masks and glasses to be separated from head slot. =D
