Without seeing your picture (link broken?) I can't help but imagine Odin with a winged horse. There's too many horse/pony/unicorn mounts in this game already - I'd rather have something truly unique.

If NIN didn't already have Bat PVP armour I'd suggest that - a dual purpose mount that walks on its hind legs and uses its wings are front legs when not flying (Wyvern like movement). That or maybe something serpent/snake like would be cool - like a giant black adder.

I feel like it will be another animal, going with what tanks already have. I'm hoping for a horse type but I doubt it. :<

Dracolisk mount! Honestly i see most dark knights riding Sleipnir as a mount, imagining a full alliance of au ra males in full dark knight armor in formation on them as we speak... -hides nosebleed-

It could also be a bull, though that may step on Raubahn's toes a little since that is his nickname already..

A bat. A gigantic bat, kind of like the the Ahriman mount. Dark Knights on Dark Wings, wielding the powers of fear and darkness to draw the enemy's eye and smash them.

What if Drk doesn't get a mount? Wasn't the purpose of those mounts to give incentives for people to roll tanks. I don't think Drk will have problems with people rolling as one.

I really would not mind a Boar, it could look very intimidating if done right. Personally i kind of want either a Scorpion or a Manticore. Random as it may seem the scorpion has always through out mythology had a vengeful/ wrathful edge to it. Scorpio was sent to kill Orion the greatest of hunters, imho it simply says to any and all "Come against me and know you will pay the price." The only reason I would suggest Manticore is not only do they also have a scorpion stinger but they also represent a fusion of both mystical and martial aspects. Dark Knights don't solely depend on there weapon/ physical strength, they harness the power of darkness as well as the use of a great sword in order to bring down their opponents. I can see as to how it would be difficult to represent these as mounts (not to mention as pvp armor) but here a little out side of the box thinking may go a long way.

What are those deathclaw creatures in West La Nos? Manticores?

Though It would be an animation nightmare, a cephalopod would be cool too.

If it follows the trend established by PLD and WAR, the DRK mount should be the same as the animal depicted in their PVP armor.

sidenote: AST set looks like a rabbit??

They did confirm in the live letter (during the Q & A Portion) that DRK WILL be getting a "Tankless Job" Mount. So at least all this speculation wasnt for nothing.

I like the idea of a Crow... maybe with 3 eyes.......... then I can go to Winterfell and haunt Bran in his dreams....

This would be a good place to put Sleipnir, I know its in game already but as cash shop only, this would allow people who didn't want to spend money on the thing still be able to get it.

I think it should be a Honey Badger covered in Dark-steel armor, because we all know Honey Badgers are fearless killers. Its nothing but perfect for a DRK. lol

And what about the other jobs (beside CNJ/WHM)? I get the reason behind it, but not everyone wants to tank. Just a shame that Tanks need a mount as an incentive to do dungeons.

Don't make another horse, I seriously hate them... In part, it was good that all the 'super-elite-imma-pro' mounts are horses, so I didn't have really the necessity to go doing primals ex like a crazy. But I'll be using a lot DRK nevertheless, just hoping.... NOT ANOTHER HORSE.

I don't really see tanks doing dungeons just cause they can get a mount. Besides to get the mount normal level 50 dungeons never counted. Just extremes and coil which didn't take much incentive to get tanks there anyways since they came for the loot.

I know of people that leveled a tank and farmed t4 ONLY for having the mounts.... After that, you could say they have not a tank, never used again... It's funny but, does people tank 'hard' content for the mounts? Yes.... Does people tank more? No...

Funny factor, the bard of my old static had the bear, I have NEVER seen him tanking, nor in raid or dungeon....

I tanked with my warriors and paladin over 1000 or more dungeons and stuff, surely, almost 3 months only using tanks... Yet, no mounts.

It would be nice if all jobs had a mount of their own, and not just certain jobs :(

They've already said that tanks getting mounts are there as incentive to have more tanks. This game, and any MMO, suffer from a severe lack of tanks. The tank mounts are meant to get people who normally wouldn't tank, to start tanking some higher tiered content. Even if people have these mounts and will never touch tanks again, it would mean that the mounts have already served part of the purpose by having these non-tanks to tank 200 instances. That's really nothing to take lightly.

As for the DRK mount, people already know what it is. Hints were dropped months ago back at Fan Fest even. They're getting the Batmobile.

It'll be a Black Tiger.....

PLD = Lions

DRK = Tigers

WAR = Bears.....

IMO in SE speculation, they give mount achievement to boost tanker to do some dungeon/roulette. But since T4 is spam-able, well I don't know.

For the folks saying that people will level a tank, spam T4, and then never touch it again: while I'm sure that does happen, I'm ALSO pretty sure there are a lot of folks that reach 50 and realize that tanking isn't as bad as they thought it was. These people will continue to tank from time to time in order to get the fast roulette queues. This puts more tanks into the dungeons, which was exactly what SE was hoping for.

thats what they intended but didnt work out the way they were hoping.. still should have other mounts available to all jobs/classes even if its along the lines of a quest simlar to healers unicorn

No offense Grekumah, but of DRK is given a mount in the same manner as WHM gets the Unicorn, there are gonna be some annoyed PLD/WAR out there since to get 'our' mount we have to hit that tankless achievement by running end-game content as tanks. If the idea was to incentivize players to play tanks, it failed. Since all it did was encourage players to grind the easiest end-game content that qualified for the achievement as a tank and then never pick up a shield or axe again.

So, if you guys are going to hand out mounts to DRK like candy, kindly remember the players who've been tanking since the start - it is truly a tankless (thankless) job. Either that or as was suggested a few posts back;

It is EXACTLY because people balk at doing low level dungeons that it would be a good idea to make this the requirement. The goal of grinding in order to obtain your mount is to increase the number of people participating in content as a high-demand job - it's not just grinding for the sake of grinding.

If people hate low level dungeons, and it's causing the people who NEED those low-level dungeons to have trouble finding parties, that's when you need to provide incentive to get people to do them. Remember, the goal of the mount is not to force people into a grind, but rather to force people to do content they might not ordinarily do otherwise where their job is in high demand.

When SE added the Tank mounts, there was a need for more tanks in Coils and Ex Primals. If there is now a greater need for tanks in low-level instances, it might be time to change the requirements to channel tanks there (or provide some other incentive that will get the tanks into the low-level dungeons).

The fact they are adding a new tank class will serve to make the DFs churning for dungeons lvl30+ (and lower ones too if/when a tank queues low level roulette) for a time; even now I'm still surprised by the amount of Ninjas I see leveling in Coerthas.

This week I've seen a lot more PLDs leveling too, its too small of a sample size to say with certainty, but I'd guess people are hyped for pld's new combo and wanna be ready for it.

And there's the Adventurer in Need incentive that's already in place.

The mount achievement started out as a bit of a challenge to get, t4 grinding aside. I got my mount without light farming t4, (mostly DFing garuda/ifrit ex) so I'm pleased and feel like it's a real achievement and at the same time I helped a lot of first timers (dozens, hundreds[?]) get their first clear. I don't think it should be changed.

I think the t4 grinding for the mount is the exception, not the rule. It's still working as intended.

LOL it took me pretty much all of 2.0 to get my war lion.

But on to the topic of dark knight mount probably a Shadow Drake.

I don't care what the mount is, but if it comes with the title "The Meat Sword" you won't see me playing another job until I have it.

When they added the mounts, the general consensus was that we need more tanks - period. There was as much need in low level dungeons, and at the time it was introduced, the people running end-game content already had statics including tanks. Se chose the wrong target group and ultimately it didn't reall help with the tank shortage, so much so that they halved the number of tanks required in 24-man alliance contect in response. I'd love for it to be 200 dungeons regardless of level,I'm just aware that there would be a chorus of protestifthey did so.

That would defeat the purpose of buying it then.

On that note, I suspect we'll get some type of Behemoth mount. Probably an Armoured one as we already have one form of Behemoth mount.
