+1 for not being a smelly cat anymore
-1 for not becoming a lala
If the voice during battle is what is turning you off there are like... 20 other options or something. Make throwaway level 1 characters and attack with em and see if there is a voice you like.
You don't notice that there are actually more Hyur because it's easy to make accidental twins with them. So when you see a Hyur you think it's one you've seen before when really it's a different one that just looks the same. :p
But seriously, everyday as a Lalafell is a good day. Can't go wrong.

Well, I'm rather partial to cat-boys in general and yours looks good, but I like your Hyur look, too (certainly more manly looking than my Midlander).
I think it suits it quite well. The somewhat unkempt style adds to the rugged look of the character.
I tried a lala alt for a while. Really cute until I unlocked Archer and she squealed with every arrow she fired. That sure got old fast.
Huh didnt expect this many replies, cant really reply to everyone sooo ima just speak my mind. I am very easily swayed, but at the same time I can see what everyones saying about playing what you like, I do like my cat, but I also like to look I dunno, more rugged? cant find a word. Still in character creator messing with it. Also no offense to lalafells but I tried one.....I can hardly see my character.....I zoom out a lot to see the entire battlefield so that might be why lol.
EDIT: on a side not who wouldn't wanna be a highlander after seeing this guy? http://i.imgur.com/paVrmmv.png
So fooled around with the editor a bit more heres the results

You're going to find responses greatly differ so I'd still recommend going with whatever you want to play as the most. Compare the following:
Idle, Movement, and Emote Animations
Voice Options
Hair Options
Tail vs No Tail
Appearance
Consider this is going to be a character you'll play as for a very long time. Playing as long as you have as a Miqo'te you should know their traits pretty well, so the question is going through the Highlander's appearances what do you think? Is it something you could see yourself playing as? Alternatively don't forget that while Fantasia is limited at the time being it will be readily available for sale later on. So if you have more than one already just use it, make yourself into a Highlander and play that way for awhile. If you feel this is something you can enjoy then stay as one. If not, use another Fantasia to revert back.
Do not be afraid to become the pure embodiment of manliness... It's worth it. ;)

I was recently in the same predicament as you sort of... I made a thread about which one I should stick with when it came to my Hyur or Elezen (though I had been playing both since launch.), but the best advice I got in my thread, and certainly better advice then I could come up with was this:
I hope this advice can help you the same way it helped me ^.^
dang that is actually amazing advice, Ya know after some hard thought, I am going to stick with what my character is now, I dont like any of the voices on hyur and ive been catboy for half a year and enjoyed it, and ive seen plenty of badass cats around here all I need is some GLAMOR! :D I hope I didnt waste your guys time and thanks for the responses! it was actually a fun thread!
EDIT: also I take back what I said about tails, I cant live without my tail or ears
That quote is full of wisdom and win. It's truly entirely up to you to decide how you prefer. For example despite wanting a Miqo'te male since 1.0's launch and rumors abound they may consider adding them in eventually I still play my female one instead. I have a Miqo'te male too, and while he feels very different from my main I always find myself going back to her because she's most familiar to me. I've tried different hair colors/styles too and none of them feel the same or I suppose you might say, "comfortable" as ones I've grown to like.
OP I'd take what the quote mentioned above into consideration because at the end of the day it comes down to what you enjoy playing and not what the general population tells you.
"Chucky" race freaks me out.
No cat fetish for me.
Hyurr urrday babeh, Highlander
You'd be surprised how much just the right type of armor combination can do. I see so many people running around in flashy gear that isn't glamoured but then you've got those who glamour everything from head to toe on their character. Me for example I've glamoured nearly every piece of equipment I have in one way or another to suit my interest. You never know what piece of gear will look good with a different one either so hang onto dungeon drops, use the Try On feature often to look at certain parts, you might find one piece you really like and next thing you know you're coordinating your whole look around that piece. :D
I get too attached to the characters as I initially created them to make big changes. When I want to play around with other races or looks, I create alts. (Then again, I like alts anyway, as it gives me a chance to repeat stuff that otherwise cannot be repeated, and I really like a lot of the early-game content.) You could do it that way. Keep your Miqo'te and play your Hyur as well.
Whys everyone hating on the hyur side-saddle thing? I wish I could make my miqo'te sit like that, I think it's gorgeous.
On topic: It's a hard thing to come to decide, changing your race. I started as a Hyur in beta and had never really considered Miqo'te until my fiance got bored and rebuilt my character as a miqo'te in the character editor program they had released. Once I saw her, it clicked for me and I've never been able to go back, any other race just feels "wrong". As silly as it sounds, I'd step back and take a really long, hard heart to heart with yourself, think about it. because we're limited on the number of fantasias we can buy. Is hyur REALLY something you like? Or is it just a flavor of the month? Will you miss your Miqo'te persona once it's gone?
Don't have time to read through the whole thread ATM so sorry if this has been said, but make an alt for your highlander to try it out before you even think about using a Fantasia, actually being able to play the character and not just look at it helps a lot. Doing so let's you experience all the sounds and movements of the character that character creation doesn't. Good luck in choosing!
I just don't like any of the hyur jaws, so I vote to stay cat.
This^
I actually remembered I fantasiad to roe once, I liked it for a bit but found myself missing miqo'te. after remembering that im sticking with it. like you said "it just clicks" and everything else feels wrong in some way. plus I love the manly voice my miqo'te has!
Here's some moar to showcase the greatness of Highlander:

I actually did this with mine. I used my veteran reward fantasia to make his skin a shade or two darker and the eyes a shade lighter, so they really stand out. In certain lighting, the pale green eyes look like they're glowing and I love it:

But why! I think you should stay a cat!
