About 3rd Party Softwares

A tough thing about the radar is the reporting of it... if people who know about someone using it are taking advantage of that knowledge, I would imagine the last thing they'd do is report it. :/

Needless to say, I just kill marks as I find them in the open world; I'm not even bothering to hunt for the weekly target (not 'til the hp has been buffed anyways).

LOL, nice. Did you report the people showing up at your Chocobo? :) This would be a great way to screenshot / report cheaters.

SE really needs to just follow other MMOs designs and add a software warden to their system.

From the get-go, I've been saying that they can't give an inch to the player base. If we (generally speaking) are doing something bad, it has to be stopped and/or made an example out of.

Initially, it was RMT with position and gathering hacks... bans were made public. Okay, that's fine. Then there was the parsers, which is something originally seen as harmless but still against ToS, but SE decided to let that go as long as people are quiet about their using it. Mmmm... walking a thin line there, but all right. Then came the infamous win-trading, which resulted in ZERO penalties, and essentially a go-ahead by Yoshi-P himself. Okay, that basically opened the flood gates and the line has been crossed, it's open season from here on.

A resulting outlook is that SE will overlook everything unless you are botting or position hacking, which is still pretty damn easy to get away with. I have some experience with position hack programs/apps, as I've used/tested those before on various games, including SE ones, and have never had any bans or anything. It's unreasonable to think they will catch everyone that cheats, but they just can't let it be so blatantly acceptable to cheat the system. For the record, I haven't done anything against ToS on this game, so anyone of authority reading this would just be wasting their time checking.

SE should design EVERYTHING with cheaters in mind.

Can someone post a list of A and S rank hunt target names? I'll see if I can get my FC to rename all their chocos to random ones on the list.

It seems they banned 9 accounts yesterday for illicit activities, didn't say what they were, but I'm guessing 3rd party programs. 9 isn't that many, but at least they are catching a few of the pricks.

I had expected low numbers, but really hoped the truth wasn't as I had feared.

As it is now, will SE actually be able to do anything to stop the use of these apps that give an unfair advantage or will they just give it the parser/fight club treatment?

So all I've got after reading every single post is this:

SE knows people are cheating.

SE can't do anything right away about it.

People are upset because of artificial barriers.

SE is aware of artificial barriers.

SE still can't do anything about it.

People are placed in a Fight/Flee situation. Either join the darkside or play the blind eye to new content.

Don't let honor drive your judgement. You either fight fire with fire(Use the radar yourself) or don't even bother.

PS3/PS4 users.. I'm sorry on behalf of SE.

Incompetence can even be found in the smartest of men.

I think the devs need to go undercover and join some of these hunting LS's and groups, I say it is stupid douchebags using the cheats, which means they aren't that smart, so all they have to do is bait them into admitting they are using it, but you have to be all clever like, so they should use lines like:

"Hey, I hear that radar is all the rage these days, lets say we use it then go do graffiti and smoke some drugs."

With this kind of sneakery they should be banning cheaters left and right.

he told you how it will be handled in the future, the same way SE has always handled cheating since xi, the same thing the GM's come here an say in everyone of these threads, the same thing that the ToS says, if you get caught you will be warned/banned/terminated.

Dunno if it really has something to do with the radar but my bf and me noticed that since the patch yesterday no hunting mobs had a name on their head. You only see the name then you got them in your target.
Hope ist helps against the radar like: no name = not on radar.

I am sure it is being investigated. Probably the banhammer will hit hard (even if it is temporary) like when people had too much gil very fast at beginning of the game and the rewards obtained removed.
Not all the culprits will be caught but I do believe it will come.
