    About 3rd Party Softwares

Can we get some answers on whether these things are allowed or not? SE has been side-stepping this for quite some time now.

Their stance on automation and bug-abuse +/- hacking is clear, that it is bannable.

How about stuff that only deals with intel? Knowing your enemy or friends' performance is already more than half the battle won, especially in FF14.

With parsers, it is kind of a weird situation. Its real life equivalent is racist talk - If among friends, do it as much as you want; but doing it among strangers, results may vary. But well, at least parsers does not affect other peoples' gameplay. If they don't like how you do things, just leave and never associate ever again. So is it legal? Uhh...

Now, the hunts. Radars can affect others and people just cannot 'dodge' you. Those who are competitive and after the best gear will have no choice but to play ball (download a radar even though they never did it before). Eventually, people will have to fall into a few categories:
    1. Those who use radars (existing and new users - growing pool)
1a. Those who tag along those who use radars (not using radar but leech upon LS information)
    2. Those who pretend the hunt doesn't exist and continue with their frontlines/ crafting/ etc. (will however kill hunt marks if they so happen stumble upon them, not exactly hunting)
    3. Those who want to play fair with the hunt, but end up losing 100% of the time and lose interest in the game

So, can we get a real answer soon? Note that stalling means an implied green light. Tick-tock.

As for me, I'm group 1a. My server? Going down the drain real fast. If using 3rd party software is expected to play this game, you (SE) should really consider bundling them with your installer.

They gave an answer as soon as they wrote the ToS. It specifically says 3rd party tools are not allowed. The mods/GMs have kept with this every time theyve replied to these topics. The only person who has said even remotely otherwise is Yoshi-p, but he only said he knows people would use it, but that it's still against teh rules to do so.

It is a rule that is likely going to be enforced as much as they can, as there is the PS3/PS4 gaming experience to consider.

It's still the weekend. They don't respond to anything on weekends. Let's see what they have to say tomorrow, if anything.

The last I heard on this is agianst the rules but its basically undetectable if you use a radar or not since its client side so it would be hard to enforce unless ffxiv installs some sort of adware that spies on your pc or an anticheat program. so pretty much if soemone admits they use it in chat they can be in big trouble. so its pretty much use it and don'tget caught sort of thing.

Still I tend to stay away from parsers and due to this fact, so if you use one use caution though its preferable to not use it at all.

There was GM response to this yesterday when he locked a thread about using the radar.

    Greetings, friends.

We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention. We value your feedback, and we are constantly striving to make the game an enjoyable experience for everyone. However, this thread has been closed due to the sensitive nature of the content. We strongly encourage players to report anyone who is violating the policies of the game. You are encouraged to submit a report directly to the Special Task Force to ensure a thorough investigation. We kindly ask that you always include the name of the suspect(s) and a brief description of the actions performed.

There are two methods for reporting directly to the STF. The first is an in-game process, found in the System Menu which can be opened by pressing ESC on a PC, or by hitting the START button on the controller if you are using a PlayStation. Once this menu is open, select the Support Desk option, then choose Contact Us followed by Report Cheating. The second method is to visit our Support Center at*http://support.na.square-enix.com*and choosing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Then, select the button labeled Report Bugs or Offending Players to access the reporting form.

Thank you for your understanding and best wishes to you,
FINAL FANTASY XIV Game Master Team

Well those are the greedy i think. So that's one difference from from others. Those who do that usually tend to make server fall behind. Some who have it may share the info on hunts too.

Remember this game is mostly played on consoles. So I see whythe fuss it's caused on this issue

Actually once addons come out, you're likely going to see addons for parsing. Yoshi even said they'll be able to see information like damage and healing that's shown to the client.

Radar is a "hack" and against the rules as it alters the game files and/or adds game files. Parser does neither.

I am not condoning the use of radar, but it does not alter or add files, just reads them. How does it alter anything?
