Easy Mode Coil Proposal

So.. we want an easy mode to practice (no rewards), so we learn the mechanics to do the normal mode (with rewards)

Hmm.. How about those who are ready to get their toes dipped into Coil, just get into it, and practice, and learn.. it's the same already with normal mode.

No need to make everything easier in this casual game..

If you want to get better at a specific thing, you practice and fail and learn until you succeed. And no, DF doens't count. You want to down everything? PF, FC, LS.

If you still can't beat it down, change group.

Then once you are at ease with one trial/dungeon, you can DF, for the real challenge lol

oh! bad players - good players - there will always be a mix of both.

Keep waiting. They said they were done. Also, increasing Echo doesn't make it easier to dodge/perform mechanics and it never will. T5 will not suddenly be made easier by increasing echo.

And on that point any "easy" mode of coil would require a drastic reduction not in just the strength of the enemies but in the mechanics you must perform. T1-T4 are already on easy mode due to increased gear quality with solidery gear and the 15% echo buff. There is literally no reason for an easier t1-t4 at this moment. If you're too afraid to try them then it's time to stop being afraid of easy fights. These ones just aren't difficult any more. It's time to give them a try.

However, T5 is a very different story. There are a ton of mechanics that are the problem. Not the damage.

Conflags/Fireballs - People have to pay attention and move quickly. Players must identify when to feed to a conflag or explode on the stack.
Divebombs - Players must know positioning, and how to move correctly all on top of paying close attention to the timing especially during snakes.
Twisters - Players must watch the boss and be aware of the twister cast and move accordingly.
Liquid Hell Spam/Eggs - Players must know how to dodge without spreading liquid hell EVERYWHERE. Tanks must know how to eat mechanics and stretch out the viable time to use the neurolink. Players must know how to do the proper mechanic if the tank neurolink becomes spammed.

If you wanted an easy mode of T5 so that players could practice it when it's easier then you would literally need to remove many of the mechanics listed above that you would actually want/need to practice. Which would make the entire suggestion akin to "please remove mechanics so we can tank and spank it."

I think the issue that some players are having in the game now is that (aside from Atma-novus quest) most of the content that we are being funneled into is group oriented.

I learned Titan EX in about 5 failed runs. 3 were to the heart, and 2 were to the super bombs. The issue wasn't that I was super elite and everyone else was trash, nor was it that I wanted to be carried. It came down to the simple fact that with every PF group up to my win, we had one or two people get caught out of position. And that alone was enough to diminish the spirits of the "alive" players and/or prompt someone who had been playing for hours to just give up and leave the instance.

I love the mechanics of this game, but without a solid static (which is a tug-o-war in and of itself since i have weeks where i get pulled away from the game) it's hard to get anything of note done. Aside from atma farming....which is quite possibly the easiest (but most frustrating) thing to do in the game.

like it was said earlier. there is a 15% echo on top of the higher gear that was not available at the original installment of 1st coil. if you still do not have the dps or health then you better keep working on your gear and/or rotation. more echo is going to make transitions more annoying than it already is if your team is pushing high dps.

as was also stated, if you want to practice and learn mechanics, then make a pf group. stop being lazy, hoping people will cater/carry you. You have the option to set a learning group up or find a group willing to help. dont sit around begging se for things to be easier than it already is when you have no real desire to go out and do it yourself

Didn't read thread but, all I want is a "story mode" coil, I don't care about loot, I just want to know the story and see the cutscenes.

What do you expect from an extreme node battle? A pillow fight? They are labeled as the toughest fights the game for a reason. If every fight for nerfed because someone thought it was tough then we'd have no challenge at all. Besides Titan Ex easy would just be Titan hard. So I'm not sure how this fits here.

I used that as an example to show that with the fights in this game, going about story progress or anything of the sort solo is a huge roll of the die because you arent just attempting to expose yourself to the mechanics of a given fight. You are also crossing your fingers to get other players with a similar outlook/temperament as yourself. ex: I can log in, and setup a learning party. I could get 4 people who just logged in as well and are itching to tackle the content. I can also get 2 people who have been trying for hours to down the content. All of that comes into play with how many attempts we go. Which in turn, feeds into the frustration and gauge of if/how that player can even get past said content.

As far as using Titan EX. I feel that Titan EX and T5 were about the same. Most parties get about half way through then just get floored.

Hate to disappoint but increased echo won't make the fight any easier or make mechanics disappear. You should probably attempt it now if you haven't already.

Story mode Coil, no reward (remember Gilgamesh ?)

Let everyone enjoy the story, gate loot behind difficulty.

Here's what it should do, echo NPC but as soon as you put it on (party leader has to do it), the drops are 2 stages lower than what would drop. So Second Coil's High Allagan => Allagan, Third Coil's Shining Allagan (I like that name) => High Allagan. So on and so forth. That makes it so you don't get easily rewarded for playing the game not as intended in content that is supposed to be hard.

Only thing with an actual reward is coil. 100 pieces of gear and lasts between major patches.
Story mode stuff is literally 2 mounts and you're basically done by the end of the first month everything else is a massive grind and in no way a memorable experience.

Do you know what items drop in Turns 2, 3 and 4 in the Second Coil of Bahamut? I don't take you as a dumb person so I know you're aware of it. Which begs the question; why are you giving gear away for people doing easy versions of what is supposed to be the hardest content?

Story mode is the best suggestion. Making it so people can see the story without having to deal with punishing mechanics that stop them from getting that experience. Although, it doesn't really matter because Echo will only be applied to already outdated content, and that's what the purpose was.

I can see this suggestion catching Yoshi's attention and consideration.

The thing about Coil is that it is very deliberately tuned so that a low % of players will be able to beat it initially. This is a design decision. They did not "accidentally" make it too hard. First Coil is already the Easy Mode Coil version (echo buff) and the developers say they are currently happy with the number of players clearing Turn 5, even right now. I don't know if there's any chance of them actually introducing an easy mode (or maybe "story mode" is less offensive) alongside the Third Coil, but we've certainly seen a high level of responsiveness to the community before. It would definitely be for no rewards, though. Every decision made about Coil seems to treat controlling gear drops as the #1 priority, and it's clear that they want to keep these low. If the point of story mode is that people can see the story without challenging the true version, I can't see any reason to set up this content to be farmed, either.

I'm all for a easy mode but give it like, Broken SCH hand gear 1/5, and once you get all 5/5 you can turn it into the normal gear.

The way the game is set up even practice is stressful and causes a lot of stress to everyone who already is awesome super-pro.
There should be guildhests that for example teach how to deal with plumes and stomps in a stack.

Guildhest that requires tank swaps and a guildhest for ping pongin' spiny plume.
The game should provide a way to learn these without being verbally abused and feeling bad about even playing for the fear of messing up everyone else's game.

That happened even before Echo (and it was even worse then). It's all based on when you damage Twintania into the divebomb phase and it only takes 1-2 attempts to figure out how many conflags will happen before the phase change and you can plan ahead. You can even leave the person in the conflag as if she goes away for divebombs it's very likely that it will stay up for quite a while. The first time we beat T5 we had someone in a conflag and our BRD actually solo'd it down from about 1/2 hp while we were avoiding divebombs.

That is a great idea. I love guildhest and they've been very helpfult while leveling up to learn mechanics, but Coil and EX primals have some never seen before in the game that can catch you by surprise, and there's no other place to practice them but there. Endgame guildhests would be a blessing.

You don't need anymore echo there. If you can't beat t5 with 15%, then you need to relearn your job, or work on understanding the mechanics. Even if they did raise the echo, that still will not help you over come mechanics like divebombs and twisters. You have to overcome those yourself.

Besides square stated that they stopped increasing it because of how many people were completing it with the 15% buff. They should honestly drop the buff to a lower number instead of raising it.

1.) i think less damage and HP is of course a no-brainer for an easy mode. however if there are attacks that are insta-kill, then they should not be touched. just IMO.

2.) not sure what this accomplishes.

3.) if you want it to feel like practice you are going to really need those insta-kill attacks back. don't want people to become too complacent in the real thing. or at the very least those insta-kills should turn in to near death hits.

4.) zero loot. the easy mode will appeal widely to those people who are only interested in completing things for story purposes.

5.) falls with 4. casual players will enjoy the easy mode for the plot. most of them will not care about the loot.

6.) if really want loot, then it should not be gear. it also shouldn't be something people will want to farm for. something you can get just for completing it once.


and then they should obviously never count towards any current achievement(s)/trophy.






i wouldn't mind seeing something similar implemented. we don't need loot. it would just be good for the storyline. and yeah, you can use it for practice too.

I would laugh so hard if you were of these people watching guides then telling other people "you just have to be good, how hard is it ?"

Not that you fall under this category, but it would be fun.

Anyway, saying that is both rude and idiot. Since when are we supposed to rely on youtube for anything in this game ? (spare me the "watch guides not to be a burden, not the point)

Also, what is your problem with a story mode to see the story without getting any loot ? Do you want that bad to be in the elite few who watched this CS in the game and not somewhere else ? I thought the problem was the access to the best loot. Your words suggest that the problem has shifted to "I don't want you baddies to access it at all".

if the objective is to train for the real thing then why should it be an easy mode? shouldn't it be the same thing so you can actually win the real fight?

The way to make trainning mode viable is to allow people that have cleared the content to go into training mode with new people to teach them.

or... actually what we do is have one of our player stream the game for a more experienced player to watch us and guide us if required.

that gives me another idea, a spectator mode would be cool too

Why not make story mode coil work like this. As soon as you zone in your character is automatically controlled by a SE bot and does the fight for you, you get to see how the fight should be done and at the end of the fight you get to see all those cool cut scenes that you weren't good enough to see for yourself. No loot of course.
