I didn't have a lot of trouble with this one, but the Central Shroud one at the Tree Stump Camp was murder for me. I loathed that one to Death!

This one gave me the worst time. That said, I watched a few Youtube Videos and managed to get it within 30 minutes of trying.
Someone gave me an advice that worked at 100% for me, lower your FPS to the minimum to do the jump.
Had been trying for over an hour... then read this thread, tuned off G-Sync, set frame limit to 1/4 in settings.
Jumping from the small log, overshot on the next go, up there 1 jump later.
Low FPS is the winner on this one.
Anyone who says you should limit the FPS to 30 in order to make this jump:
Why should you have to limit the game due to terrible character placement detection? In no other game would that be acceptable.
i think it has something to do with how the servers update your character position and having the client reflect it back. a lower fps cap (30ish) will allow your client to update the position with a sort of delay after sending the "move" request which increases your chance of catching/landing the jump
I don't think she was asking why it's suggested - but more of 'why is this acceptable'.
On the plus side, I don't recall any jumps in HW or SB sets that really needed the lower FPS treatment, so I'm hoping they learned from it :) Now if they could only improve on their hit boxes and jumping onto thin air as seen in Kugane.
yeah it is bad game design :( but there were people iirc who were able to do the said jump as it was intended (ie. uncapped frames)
yeah it's true and it's nice that they've since learned from the said jump and none of the HW/SB logs have anything that required people to suggest capping your fps to have an easier time
If anyone's still struggling with this I used a different strat that I found way easier, maybe it will help someone else who is having issues

Basically just jump from the mossy rock next to the logs, from the very corner you can hit the shorter log, and then your mount will already be at full speed so just tap jump again and you'll hit the middle tall log every time. No dying and getting ressed, no framerate settings, no trying to get a running start on a tiny log. Once I got the timing for the second jump down I was able to do this several times in a row easily (after spending like 15 minutes trying and failing to do it the "normal" way).
Hope this helps someone.
Thanks for your contribution!
I remember crying blood and watching every single video when I did this one. In the end, it seems that is only doable by using a mount. There's another jump in the Shrouds where you have to jump on top of a gate, from a rock next to it. It's just... thank God I'm done with the Sightseeing Log. These timed jumps are a pain in the back. I also remember in the Leatherworker guild I think? I had to drop my FPS to 30 in order to make it happen. SE loves to torture us. You can tell after they released that in the latest patch... the Kugane Tower's Leap of Faith. Two nightmares in one.
Just wait till the next expansion! ;D
I got the Kugane Tower and this one the other day and finally finished the log. I was thinking I was going to take days to get up there but I managed it all in roughly 5-6 hours. The jumping down to the lamp post took me at least 5 tries... XD
I would love to see YoshiP and his "dev" team do this jump. Who actually does QA at SE? They must have the easiest job in the world. Getting paid to literally do nothing.
My apologies for the necro, but this isn't any easier now even with faster mount speed unlocked. I'd heard about the fps thing but I haven't tried jumping from other areas, so I'll have to give that a go.
I did it but it took bloody ages. I had to lower my fps. Watch some videos of it too, I was trying to make the jump incorrectly from a screenshot for a while.
I personally did it by precisely spacing a leap to the first post with a max speed mount, turning mid-jump and jumping to the second without slowing down to preserve my momentum.
This was after spending a good 20 minutes trying to jump there unmounted.
It's several years later and this jump is still janky garbage. The fact that changing your FPS somehow makes jumps easier is absurd, and the fact that lowering it makes jumps trivial is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Well, next to the people in this thread defending it like it's supposed to be some busted piece of trash. I think it says something that every other jumping puzzle in the game to date hasn't been a tenth as finnicky and busted as this garbage. I spit on this entry, as it sullies the otherwise fun time that is the sightseeing log.
Of all the times to drag this from the depths, we're less than 24 hours away from being able to fly in ARR zones. Unless you can't land on the point, the whole sightseeing log is going to be trivial.
I'm assuming you will not be able to land there because there seems to be some kind of minimum space requirement for something to be considered a valid landing point.
There are some sight-seeing spots in flight enabled areas that you had to jump/fall onto because of this.
Resurrecting a 2014's thread is really something! Twice!!!
Not now, patch 5.3, you can fly. Problem solved.
What if you unmount in midair above it and land in the spot. That might work.
1, hella necro.
2, didn't they nerf this one so you only have to get on the first post now?
(I remember getting to this one successfully and waiting out the time/weather conditions and getting excited when it popped and accidentally hitting my auto run when trying to /lookout)
(I ragequit for 3 days)
Just checked and nope, it's still the middle post. Also you can't fly up and land on it, mount won't land. Also also since flying is a thing now, you can't use your mount to make the jump because "oops I guess I'm flying now!" Unless there's a way to disable flying that I'm unaware of.
Set max fps to 30.
It makes that jump infinitely easier.
