While I'm happy about the system(rank 10 dps here) I'm disappointed in the choice of name. It left my whole FC looking forward to breeding and raising chocobos. The announcement left us disappointed even though it is a nice feature. Advanced chocobo training would have been a more appropriate name.
I'm fine with how it is now. I'm leveling other classes and in-between fates, I grind on enemies I can chain and at level 45 can easily get 40k an hour for my choco. So 18 hours of grinding for Rank 7/8 maybe 20 for 9. That is not including the challenge log. Not really that onerous. If you just did a couple hours a day you can do a rank every week. Do you want to get to Rank 10 in one week or less?
You get 15% a week, meaning you have to do far less work than people used to have, it's a very quick (15 min?) ish to get very high amounts of XP.
People did get rank 10 chocobos at 2.0.
I don't have mine yet, and I still think that it's a very massive upgrade. Unless you think it should be easily finished within a few days, then I dunno man.
Well at mob level 45-47 (Amalj'aa) you get 215 per kill, so thats ~7 (Over due to partial experience not awared) for 1500, so you can break the 5 minute mark but after about an hour of 7 a time at 3mins or under you will have 30000 choco xp gained...So I am sure you sanity will start to teeter the same way it does with atma farming.
Which is very nice ^^
New max perhaps later with a lvl cap raise? maybe.
Until they don't allow them to be a real companion, like a bear for a Ranger or the Egis, I don't see much of a point to just have them around even in the outfield, since when you fate party, you have to let go of them for another player, which is fine but defeats it's purpose a bit.
So for soloers it's very handy. Otherwise..
And I'm ok with the xp boost we get from the challenge log now. I'll be hitting Rank 9 tomorrow, worked less hard than others from 2.0, but I wonder if all their classes are maxed (19)
To each their own fun I guess ^^
Excited about the color change: afraid there will be lot's of black ones, but hey, need to suit my name and dark theme muhahahaha!
Greetings,
In order to receive your first set of barding for your companion, you only need to reach rank 10. So if you have yet to receive your first set of barding, you can reallocate your points to the one you wish to obtain and then go retrieve it. However, to receive the second set of barding onward you will have to break the rank cap.
And yes, you'll be able to use all the barding you obtain. :)
Also, as another small tidbit, the item needed to reset your companion’s skill points can be obtained using grand company seals and through other means.
Camate's info is way more user friendly than I originally thought it would be! I thought for sure that they would hold off on respec, and even drop it, in favor of raising a second chocobo from rank 0. Each time you wanted a piece of barding, you would have to get a new chocobo (either bred or bought when chocobo raising patch comes out) to rank 10. That means for those that originally opted for a hybrid path, they would have to rank up 3 other chocobos from rank 0-10.
Given SE's history for favor of "longevity" in the game, this sounded like the most logical option, but grats from learning their mistakes and listening to the playerbase! I know many people would rather try and farm 9 atma relic weapons than level up 3 separate chocobos from rank 0, even if you CAN measure their rank progress. XD
lol, expect the worst and you won't be disappointed, though I'm sure there will still be complaints about not enough ways to level your chocobo (need choco dungeon) or the grind from 10 to 11 is mind numbing.
For all we know, we'll have to grind the choco to 30 to unlock everything. Leveling a choco is horribly boring.
And it may be off topic, but while in Healer stance, the chocobo has a tendency to want to be as close to you as possible and this causes it to be hit by frontal cone attacks constantly. I know they take less AoE damage, but the fact that I can't even maneuver the mob between me and the choco to put the choco at the rear of the mob without the choco racing around to be near me is very annoying.
I haven't specifically done any farming to level my Chocobo at all and he is about 35% of the way to Rank 10 from 9. I've just made sure to always use my Chocobo whenever I'm doing ANYTHING in the open world, such as Beastmen Quests, Treasure Maps, etc.
Sure it's a lot of XP, but I don't think it needs nerfing.
I'm just glad they're finally allowing us to respec - Still regretting that one Attack Skill on my Healer Choco XD
Sucks this is behind a ginormous pay wall. The only FC houses left on Excalibur are FIFTY EIGHT MILLION GIL.
A "stand here" command is all what it need. Obey would be worthless, because you can't activate the choco skills yourself.
The problem with healer stance is that the chocobo don't have a target and because of that it is in the "follow me" mode.
Choco respec cost only seals.
they could change that to allow us use them and to drag and drop the skills we want used most to hotbars like we can with pets.
or heck they could even make a companion hotbar like the pet hotbar.
not sure how hard it would be but somehow I doubt it would be terribly difficult.
Regarding Chocobo barding there is a set # limit to how many you can have tho. And you cannot remove any of them once you obtain them. So either SE has a set # of bardings they plan to make or people are going to have to sacrifice not getting certain bardings when cap is reached or SE will have to increase the cap # of bardings you can have.
Wasn't really saying it needed one just realistic numbers. I try to have my choco out but I'm in que alot specially during beastmen quests and when I am not qued up I am usually crafting/gathering so I would actually have to devote some time to it, but if I am doing fate grinds or hunting logs I have it out.
No idea if rank 20 specifically is required, but you definitely can't do it at rank 10 capped. It's possible all you need to do is give it that Thavnairian onion to uncap it, but I wouldn't know because no onions have even sold yet on my server.Quote:
So just to clarify - If I allocated all my points into Tank and obtained the Paladin Barding and then reallocated my points into full attacker (still rank 10), I will not obtain the Dragoon Barding until my Chocobo is rank 20?
So the item only resets the skill points and not thr chocbo's actual level? Im at rank 9 healer with 400k exp to go till 10 and i dont want to have to start at 0 exp rank 9.
It resets your skills, not your level.
ty for the answer. Now I can get my tank barding to match my tank job
I plan to reach 10 healer to unlock the barding then reset the last 10 points into dps since I've heard the chocobo AI is terrible with medica.
When I'm hunting maps as a bard, my chocobo in healer stance keeps me alive very well, even though he is only rank 4 healer (got cure). And when I used to solo boss fates for atma as a healer, he would keep enmity pretty well in a tank stance (rank 7). Currently up to rank 9 tank. Can't wait to get Thavnairian onion!
it's my understanding from one of the duty commenced or a live letter that if you reallocate your points you lose the Paladin barding and gain the Dragoon barding in such a case. personally I think it's just more worth it to use the Thavnarian Onions to get the choco rank to 20 48k GC points is a lot of GC that could go toward something else
Any info about the breaking rank cap conditions for alternate barding?
I am in the process of leveling my choco from rank 10 to rank 11, and want to know what it will take to earn the other 2 barding choices.
