Times change, but some societies take longer to change. If you take it personally, that's on you and you are working yourself up way too easily.

I don't think they see it as an insult, it's just how their Viewpoint is in their culture, not everyone thinks like this, it's just like anywhere else, you have supporters and nay sayers. the Japanese who do see it this way see it as more of a "phase" then anything, which let's be hoenst, everywhere else thought that same thing at one point or another, it's no different really.
What are the chances of getting this topic back to what it was about, not cultural or sexual differences.
Some nice bits of info in the reedit post, next patch and those after are already exciting
lol so the marriage thing is for real?
Also wonder why more housing areas will be introduced, there are plenty of plots empty as it is.
Can it be true that finally blm has it's own lb? I sure hope so :)
I am ok with the expansion of CT
Hopefully, persona housing won't have the same time-lime as FC house.
NDA=Not Doing Anything?
I am still excited for the 64bit client and dx11 when it gets here. I will take whatever performance they can squeeze out of this game. It would be nice if they were setting it up for dx12 in secret too. I am wondering if they held off on dx11 for the recent announcements of dx12. After all, the industry knew about it years ago and it's starting to 'wrap up' now. No reason AMD or nvidia wouldn't drop SE a hint about it. Got my tinfoil hat on. LOL although I remember when nvidia was a 'partner' in 1.0 but after the game tanked, it was removed from nvidia's website, just recently being readded.
hmmm... lots of neat things. they're looking to add...
But Seriously SE, especially with the Glamour system out... Create Vanity Items, Open up the "Sanctum of the Twelve" so people can actually go inside...Marriage system done. Everyone's happy and you stay out of a debate that can be easily avoided.
I hope Bard gets a DPS limit break. I honestly think it's poor design to give them a healer LB.
Dye birds? I'm all for chocobo variety but I expected it to come through breeding... not tossing a bucket of paint on the poor thing. xD
This is a horrible decision. Personal housing should be available to everyone, regardless of level.
Lvl 50 isn't hard to get, I doubt any non 50 will be able to afford it anyway. To make personal housing free to everyone they would have to limit it so much it wouldn't be worth it at all. If they did that we won't get it for another 2 years.
Agreed. Considering they've screwed up a lot of their fluff content in really random ways, my hopes are not very high.
I have a large number of alts I would like to get houses on for RP reasons but have pretty much zero desire to level them any further than they already are. I am 100% capable of transferring money to them so that they can buy their own house if they can't afford it on their own.
Besides, if housing is more than 1 mil gil (and it shouldn't even come close to that), then SE has really f'ed up. They justified FC housing prices because multiple people were contributing. Personal housing should be maybe 100-500k tops.
Please no... That would be awful... Either go with FFVII and have use gain colour through massive inbreeding, or go with FFIX and make "dyeing" our Chocobo part of a massive minigame questline.
If it's as easy as dyeing gear, I'll eat a moogle.
And I don't know what game you're playing... Between the Challenge Log, Dailies, Retainer Ventures, and Duty Roulette, Gil is absolutely worthless. Saving up a few million Gil isn't hard in the slightest.
You do realize they're not guessing on this stuff right?
They have the servers... they can ask someone in the office "Hey, how much gil does the average player have?" and get an accurate number.
Personally, without even trying and just selling stuff I pick up... I'm sitting on a little over six million.
Perfect example of a way to waste server space. I don't want to be in an empty neighborhood because houses were given away to every character and alt. Houses will be abandoned by players who rarely play and alts. If they feel like the current 15 housing wards stressed servers, can you imagine if they pretty much gave it to everyone?
If player housing and the design decisions behind player housing is truly that important to you, than I would honestly suggest just packing up right now and hitting the road. Not trying to be a jerk, but you are placing a massive amount of importance personally on a feature that is at best a small side project for most players and seems to be treated as such by the developers. Personally, I would love for housing to be expanded on to the level of the Sims myself, but I know that it never will be. The focus of this game is killing monsters for loot, and that will always take priority over things like housing from a developer standpoint.
Not with paint, with fruits

Q: Any plans for red Chocobo, colored Chocobos?
Yoshida: For Chocobo color, there is a new feature coming for the housing, a stable is planned for release in patch 2.3 or patch 2.35. Using this facility, you give certain foods to Chocobo so they can break through their limit, or feed certain food which changes the color of their feathers...... we’re looking into that direction. Maybe if you train the Chocobos in these stables it’ll help their growth. As for two people riding on Chocobo’s together, we’re currently looking into this.
You want them to go all out on fluff, instead of using their resources on primary content? Reality check, they don't have infinite resources, and housing is not at the top of the list. You are setting yourself up to be extreamely disappointed when housing comes out. This isn't Housing Fantasy.
I like how due to one point most of this thread became about same sex marriage. Im excited about finally being able for my husband and I to marry our characters together, though I would hope they include samesex marriage too. Perhaps if they're really worried they could do it like in XI, they didnt allow it at first, but then went back on that and adjusted the system to allow it...although most people didn't even seem to realise, obviously nobody even cared about it by that point.
A little disappointed in chocobos. I was thinking/hoping for an actual chocobo breeding system, unless its still in the works.
Personal housing...sounds great, I would love to have a cottage in gridania finally, but all my gil goes to our FC house in Ul'dah. I'll probably have a personal room but never be able to afford another house for myself ):
Since you want to RP...
The lore behind it is (almost certainly, since it essentially is this for FC housing) that the Grand Companies only will allow trustworthy adventurers (must have certain lv50 rank) the ability to buy land under their care.
Oh, wait...you don't care about that aspect of the lore, do you...just whatever RP is in your head.
The game (like every single other game in existence) has finite resources, and, like others have said, housing is NOT terribly important in the grand scheme of things, especially not compared to new content. Allowing only lv50 characters of a certain GC rank also prevents one person (or a few people) from making a bunch of alts and scooping up all the land (like you want to do), which prevents others from taking part. And...it is NOT hard, at all, to level a character to 50 and do GC quests. If you can't be bothered to do that...
I hope they don't cost too much but as of now seems it may with FC prices.
There's certain things taking priority over others and then there's just restricting content needlessly.
I've played MMOs with nothing to do outside of running dungeons. They are not fun. Fluff content is content just as important as any other. Running dungeons day in and day out gets really old, really fast.
Needlessly? What lvl 10 character has any sizable amount of gil to purchase a house? An alt, that's who. As someone else pointed out, having neighbors is part of the fun of having a house. I personally would be upset if I purchased a personal home, only to find out that one guy with an army of alts bought up every other lot in my ward rendering it a complete ghostown. I understand you personally don't like it, but take a step away from what -you- want and perhaps look at the situation from the perspective of a potential owner of every other home in that ward.
Also, this isn't a game where alts are really common or important. The developers aren't catering to your desire because not many people use alts for anything. You can do -everything- on one character, hence the lvl 50 limit since everyone who actually plays this game is guided safely and quickly to lvl 50 in no time. Seriously, if you just look at this logically you will see why these restrictions are in place and why they make sense.
Right now, no one really uses alts except perhaps for retainer space. Personally, I'd prefer to keep it at that instead of allowing people to create 7 more characters and fill up a neighborhood just because they have money and can.
Meanwhile you can respond at any time to how you view other people's potential desire to spend their in-game assets on a player home in a ward that is populated by people instead of alts, and whether or not you think that is rational or irrelevent.
