The quoting system on this site still bugs me, it's different than something else I'm used to, making quotes for ten different people is going to take longer than several replies to each person with formatting involved.



I'm not stingy with my opinions, if I want to tell someone that he's about to fail, I will. I didn't though, sure having the pet out easily implies that, but what I said at the time wasn't so black and white as that. No I do not play a tank, not do I play a high level summoner, but it's very easy for anyone with end game experience to spot a bad summoner.

You do have a high level summoner and yet you make posts saying a ACN can do more DPS than a SMN, and you say my posts contain a lot of "idiocy" xD


When a tank is doing large pulls they need the trash to die fairly quickly, if your gimping your dps trying to "micro manage"/use a tanking pet, it's no great surprise the party wiped really is it?

DPS can be and often are responsible for "tanking fails" too.

To be fair, your attitude was poor then and it's still poor now.

You were adamant that you were right about everything then and your still adamant that your right about everything now, despite most people telling you otherwise.

Most replies have been constructive criticism, you ask the questions, but you don't want to listen to the answers.

This is a team game and to get the most from your teams (even pugs) you need to play as a team.

Regular tanks cant tank if DPS doesn't give them a few seconds to gain enmity, there's no difference if it's a Tank pet or a WAR or PLD doing it, the only real difference is that one is player controlled and one is an AI that has to do the same things over and over again without any variance.

Well few people have actually played their class to current "end-game" (as of 2.2).

I cleared all of the 2.1 content with my BLM and most of it also on my Bard.

I'm currently on T8 with my static as BLM and have carried people for all of the Ex primals.

So you really should get off your high horse when your going to start lecturing people about "end-game" content that you have not done on any class.


Having multiple classes at level 50 means nothing on it's own. I have 2 of the dow/dom classes at 50 on my main, I know BLM pretty well, but I'm not what I would consider a "good Bard", despite being ilvl91 or so. Though I would say I know my main class pretty well and have a reasonable basic understand of the other classes mechanics.

And that's exactly what I'm talking about, you're giving the tank a few seconds to land a hit first so you don't pull aggro. I can't believe I'm actually having to spell it out because that is the exact widespread "give tank a few seconds to gain enmity" signal that anyone should be able to realize. At it's core you're giving him a few seconds before you make a move for him to hit first, so you don't pull.

No, because I'm not claiming to be some hardcore all day every day Raid content player. I've attempted Garuda Extreme dozens of times after I studied up on and played the fight enough, I never finished it before 2.2 because no one else I ever came across knew what they were doing. Because those exact people already had their pre-formed groups that they set to be their statics for other content. I was with the other people who didn't have enough time to play through the content, or were unable to because of their own skill. Yet I still know how to play my role through each of the fights. I don't have actual experience with Ifrit Extreme yet, and I know what to do for Titan but I have not cleared it because of what I already said.

You are right that I don't have tons of experience with pre-end game content, but that's all it is. A lack of actual experience, but I still know what to do when I actually get to it. The difference with you is you're thinking you're credible enough to diagnose who doesn't know how to use their class because you've dabbled in one Magic and one War class, and barely anything else. Crafting doesn't qualify you to be able to say "Hey White Mage, do you know what Shroud of Saints is so you don't AoE heal right before a fight? Hey PLD, have you tried emptying your MP with Flash at the start then rotating your Rage of Halone combo between each enemy?"

Because you are literally lacking in experience with most of these classes, which means anything you say to other people about them has little to no merit. I don't claim to tell people what they should be doing on a class unless I've had enough firsthand experience with it myself. Then here you are preaching to someone about Summoner when you have a drop in the bucket of time actually using Arcanist and not having even gotten the Job yet.

Because all I've told you because you're too ignorant to actually recognize it is that you don't have any classes leveled worth a ****, don't preach to me to start off on how to play something if you've only used BLM and BRD. See now that's funny. I have used it a lot in Coil, which is what is the other half of end-game pre 2.2 was, which means since it was my main, it was my most used class. I forgot that >Didn't use it for all Extreme Primals means >No end-game content, oops. When really Coil was the more heavy focus for end-game since it gave armor weapons and accessories and not just accessories, Extreme Primals were there for people who wanted to min-max their characters to BiS lists, but you could still have full 90 gear from Coil with ease.

Every server has different players and people, I shouldn't have to explain that.

Your asking why don't people grasp that a War (Tank) should join DF and act as a DPS, so that you can use Titan Egi to act as the tank/dps hybrid.

Titan Egi holds really poor agro compared to a tank, it makes it a lot harder for the healer, as the pet is not in the healers party bar.

Any DG run would be a lot faster if you let a real tank do his role.


By joining a DF run and expecting people to play along, I do believe this makes you either a troll or a bad player.

If you want to do runs like that pre-make the party or go with friends.

If he fails at his job of actually being the tank, then he should step aside and let someone else do it, I didn't order and say the team should go along with what I had in mind, but I questioned why it still couldn't be done if done right, which it certainly can be. And that was the purpose of this thread, doing something that can be done and not adhering to "This is 100% how this should be done and you're a troll/bad player/loser if you don't do it." You certainly subscribe to that train of thought. Hotbar settings can be tweaked, I have mine set for WHM to be able to scroll through pets, since I realize the benefit they have to a party when alive, I wouldn't expect you to understand that not having leveled Summoner.

Decent and Great are two usable synonyms for doing something well, that wasn't emboldened and it wasn't preaching as if I was on a higher-echelon of playing. But when all your posts specifically cut-out one section of text to make a point, I'm not surprised that that's the best you can do.

Weren't you the one talking about your Turn 8 static not too long ago? Listing what I've been doing and have done isn't bragging, me saying I've used more classes in end-game is, further invalidating how you think you can lecture people on classes you've barely touched.

Without lowering this to an argument of semantics, anyone that speaks English wouldn't need to doubt the veracity of the two words being used in a simple fashion unless they wanted to make an argument over it in the first place.

A few points- no, you are not fairly decent at your class. You are the total nimwit that tried to argue ACN was viable because you get Foresight (rofl) and Protect (whuuuuttttttt?).

No. You need to understand this.

Alexander the Great was not named that because he was decent. The Great Wall of China is not named as such because it was 'adequate.' They were named as such because they were exceptional, above the normal, and far beyond 'decent.'

This isn't semantics. This is either you backpedaling from a mistake, or displaying a fundamental misunderstanding of basic English vocabulary, both as a dictionary example and as it is commonly used in normal speech.

A) Stoneskin, Blood for Blood, Internal Release, Protect, Convalescence, and Aero are all very helpful to any class. I'll continue to stand by that. On Arcanist, they can certainly improve the damage and it's utility. If you're too dumb to remember my conversations with Ryuko though then you're too ignorant to remember how it went from then on. I was still a Novice Summoner by that point enjoying the game how I wanted to, Protect and Stoneskin are just as useful on Arcanist as they are on Scholar, does that mean it's dumb for them to use it too?


B) The Peanut Gallery is notorious for having opinions rooted in something unrelated, if you still remember anything from that thread then you're already biased and spouting **** unrelated to this thread, keep thinking you know what you're talking about.

A large vocabulary is one of my strong-suits, because a word might not fit it's literal Encyclopedia Britannica usage does not mean I can't easily use both words in a similar context. Exceptional, Fantastic, Superb, Phenomenal. Any of those could be supplemented for "Great". Because Decent might have a different listed description does not mean they aren't still similar in some facets.

"Oh hey did you go see that new movie? I thought it was pretty great."
"Ehh, it was decent I suppose."

So Dude A thinks it was Great, Dude B said it was only decent. Therefore someone doesn't know how to use rudimentary English because two words weren't identical to the point that you can't make a distinction between them. That about right?

@Madoka, with all the attitude and cursing and shouting you were doing to the OP in the other large thread in the DPS section, I wouldn't be inclined to believe you on anything except for the fact that your attitude is probably worse than mine.

If you're going to claim to look educated in your posts, I have no qualms tearing them apart.

1) "Strong suit" should not be hyphenated.

2) Your first sentence is a run-on sentence.

3) It's is the contraction for it is. What you want here is its.

4) Encyclopedia Britannica, as a title of an encyclopedia, should be italicized.

5) You should avoid starting noun clauses with because. Even if you want to argue that it's grammatically correct, you'll meet a lot of opposition. Of course, opposition to your ideas should be nothing new to you at this point.

6) Your second sentence is a fragment.

7) Each of those words has its own connotations. While each may be somewhat similar to great, to say that they are completely interchangeable is dishonest.

8) The first sentence of your dialogue is missing two commas.

9) The second one is missing another comma.

10) Your first sentence after the dialogue is a run-on. In addition, it's missing a comma.

11) In the same sentence, you capitalize one word you're talking about, but you don't capitalize the other. There's no reason to capitalize either word. Besides which, this sentence shows a lack of consistency.

12) The next sentence is missing a comma.

Well, that's a dozen mistakes over three short paragraphs from someone who claims he looks educated in his posts. I wonder what would happen if I scrutinized all of your posts in this thread.
