Praying that they're not planning on making summoner even worse.
Gun class we don't expect.. it might mean, the style have not appear in any FF games before. So need to expect the unexpected. I say, maybe it takes the role similar to the Commissar in Warhammer 40K. Makes your team perform better! By placing a gun beside their heads.
"Hey! Tank better!"
"Sorry Drg, you gtg, your DPS is kinda, *blam!* lacking... so let this be an example for all you ppl!"
"Bard, sing and dance for me *blam!* go on move your feet *blam!* higher! higher!
Not sure Summoner or Black Mage needs to be buffed. They're already great. Making them better will just cause other jobs to fall behind. Sure, they have their problems but so does every other job. All jobs have their share of abilities that are next to useless.
Hoping they actually make the gun class alike corsair in XI.
...I know XI is a ship that sailed, but varying rolls which increase party accuracy, critical hit rate etc, plus an experience bonus would be sweeeeet.
I wonder what the moogle stitches was about.
Well I kinda expected the Thief/Ninja addition after completing the 2.2 story... Those Green Bandana guys and the fact that Yugiri is dressed in purple oriental-styled garments was too obvious (if you played FFTA).
I'm not sure what to expect from the gunner though - at this moment, it's portrayed as a badass dpser, I'd expect something like a magic-infused gunner like the first boss of Pharos, shooting concentrated ether for lasers and all sorts of bullets. Most likely the counterpart to the heavily support oriented Bard, focusing on higher DPS and offensive buffs/debuffs. COULD be Gun Mage-esque to incorporate the "Soul of the Blue Mage" as the Job to Gunner. Also think that the gunner will be inspired by Fusilier/Flintlock form FFTA.
About the BLM buff... do they really need to outclass SMN more? =_= not ranting but people already pick the BLM over the SMN due to the bad dps stigma...
inb4 they make BLM boss destroyers AND AoE kings...
I'm really excited about the Egi rebalancing, it's sad to see Ifrit collecting dust all the time - he really has to empower our spells with a faith buff to the SMN OR empowering dots instead of extending them like Garuda. That'd mean that Ifrit will be good for bursty phases, Dungeons and shorter fights while Garuda still is there for longer, dodge heavy, more important fights like coils.
I can see Titan getting a Fighter stance to make him useful outside soloing.
Also very excited to see Levi and Ramuh coming. I knew they'd keep Shiva as the strongest/last out of the six.
I think SMN gets a bad reputation simply from bad summoners. Also, summoner does have a bit harder time with early raiding gear than BLM it seems.
BLM needs some mobility love, nothing more.
It can mean many things we wont know until it is shown. Yet what we can assume will be based on our knowledge and history with the franchise which has many variations. Like it can be a Fusilier, Crosair, based of Merlwyb, Garlean machine guns, and so on and so on.
I speculated once before and I still think we might be seeing our new pets being similar to this:
For Ramuh I could see something along the lines being a stunner and AoE specialist:
60: Summon V: Summons a ranged supporting-type pet (Ramuh).
---Slot 1: Rolling Thunder: Deals lightning damage to target and nearby enemies. Recast: 3s.
---Slot 2: Shock Strike: Delivers a ranged attack. Additional Effect: Stun (3s). Recast: 30s.
---Slot 3: Chaotic Strike: Delivers a three-fold ranged attack. Additional Effect: Stun (3s). Recast: 45s.
---Slot 4: Thunderspark: Delivers an attack to target and nearby enemies. 10% chance to paralyze per DoT on selected target (8s). Recast: 90s. (must be the casting SMN's DoTs)
-Enkindle: Judgement Bolt: Deals lightning damage at a potency of 200 to all nearby targets. Additional Effect: Paralysis (10s). Recast: 300s.
Haven't thought too much on Shiva but perhaps heavy/slow/a DoT/reduce target's evasion/melee range?
Ugh, you can keep paralyze. It's one of those skills that rides the fine line between 'should I bother' and way overpowered.
Mainly why I thought it would be good when used with an AoE-focused pet. As it stands SMN doesn't have a whole lot in the way of AoE damage for speed runs and the like. This would be a means to allow them to perform better in that situation and the paralyze as an added support so the healer may not have to worry as much. Wouldn't really be effective to use it on a boss as the stuns could mess up a dedicated stunner and like you said, paralyze is one of those middle ground abilities where it'd be nice if it proc'd but only shows returns when multiple targets are present.
Would it be a slap in the face if a gun class was a new type of tank? No one expects that.
or a new support class, like a gunmage of 10-2.
Gunkata as a tank, wait for it.
I don't know why people can't understand the difference between sustain and burst.
When it comes to long fights yeah SMN's will be constantly doing AoE dps as long as they keep refreshing those dots.
When it comes to short fights BLMs will obliterate those packs since they can burst those 20,000(?) HP bars.
That's why BLM does better in brayflox farms than SMN. ~10K damage to every mob individually in the course of 20 seconds vs whatever SMN can do in the course of 20 seconds.
It's almost time for me to become....a ninja.

Unfortunately I don't think that information is at all relevant unless there was an event in Japan yesterday, but the Live Letter was never announced. So, I'll take it with a grain of salt for now.
Yes it was announced at the end of the last live letter at 4/26 there's a "NicoNico" event which is where the FATE occurred.
Also Video Proof: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm23411358
More than likely this was meant to sure as the Japanese live letter, and we, the U.S., will get the same info when the English live letter comes out soon. I would also mark you calendars. If they are giving us this kind of information now, I'd imagine that the E3 info will be much more to the player's liking.
Would E3 be too soon to see a trailer for the first expansion?
It may be for you but not for Yoshi-P
He always had planned 1st expansion to be released within 2 years since 2.0 release which is around 2.4, 2.5, or 2.6 which means 1st expansion is some where in 2015.
As for E3 reveal it would be nice to see what the theme of 1st expansion will be since we are only given that we should look to Flying in 1st expansion which the only thing I can think of is the Air-ships we are promised be Personal (Character owned) and FC (FC owned) air-ships to serve a important function in a future FF14 content.
I suppose there is also the consideration that there will be another class/job that comes out with these. Yugiri said she was moving her people here. It seems only logical that her culture would have several different classes/jobs at their disposal.
The OP is the one who claimed that everything he said is 2.3
Actually yoshida never mention 2.3 one bit. It is likely to be expansion.
So the topic title is very misleading atm.
Hopefully they just buff Ifrit instead. His Stun move is completely redundant and annoying, would much prefer it if it was a dash attack like Shoulder Tackle, though without the Stun, of course. That should close the gap on him and Garuda, since they'd both be able to attack most of the time, rather than Ifrit having to float up to his enemies currently.
