Animus Weapons Underpoweresd

If the stats on the weapon is way better than it is now then waiting for hours for FATEs to pop would be worth it

I cant help but feel that SE doesnt know how to reward players based on how much effort they put in something..

Just look at how this game treats Melee DPS and all their positionals and more importantly, the ATMA grinding and Animus Upgrade

You farm 12 stones for god who know how many hours and what do SE respond with?

Why work towards this though? the atma is a pain and to top it off, the books and myth requirement is even worse.

Get a leviathan weapon + mirror, save yourself the nightmare...

Or the Soldiering Tome Weapons. It's a hell of a more interesting grind, at least.

And come next update when they release the next tier of weapons your leviathan weapon will still be i100 while everyone with an animus weapon starts upgrading theirs to i110 or beyond.

Then eventually when they release full customization for the weapons you're left settling for whichever crafted/raid weapon has the closest to BiS everyone with an upgraded relic is fitting their weapon with the best stats possible.

I don't know what you're talking about. I got two first fate atmas in a row and I was just doing the beast tribe daily fates. The drop rate might have increased with the latest hotfix but don't quote me on that. Also I already have and atma Bravura, on book 4 atm, and I was using my pld (sword zenith and allagan sheild) to do the beast tribes since I rarely get to use it and they just dropped as soon as I finished the quest.

@OP: you do know that they will be patching in more steps so it might potentially be ilvl 110 right? 2.25 will add more steps.

Do we know what ilevel the upgrades will be or are we just being completely baseless.

Considering people were saying that the relics will be i115 in 2.2 in the lead up to it's release I am going to use more than a pinch of salt here.

apparently, there WILL be another comparable i110 and beyond just like how EX and Levi weapon do

It's really silly that zenith has no stat upgrade when becoming atma when the quest dialog states that your weapon has become more powerful.

They need to boost atma and animus power a bit.

You don't realize how astronomically low your chance of obtaining a mirror is. It's a nightmare of itself, perhaps even worse. Unless you're lucky, you're looking at HUNDREDS of Leviathan Ex clears. Literally hundreds.

Drop rate 5% or less. Then you have to roll against 7 other people for it.

Anybody that thinks the mirror is an actual alternative has no idea.

The Animus weapons are not underpowered; they're exactly where they should be in relation to the other weapons. Of the three weapons available at the i100 level, you've got one that requires you to complete very difficult content, but requires comparatively little in the way of raw playtime to get (having to complete Turn 7 to get a Soldiery weapon), you've got one that requires you to complete moderately-difficult content, with (what should be) a moderate amount of play-time required (Leviathan directly dropping weapons and mirrors, according to RNG), and you've got one that requires a very low amount of actual effort, but a very high amount of raw play-time (the Animus, which requires nothing more strenuous than running the i55-and-under dungeons). That's a pretty fair way to offer players multiple pathways to powerful gear.

If there's a problem with the distribution of these weapons, it's not with the Animus - it's with the extremely low drop rate on Mirrors (ie: You could conceivably spend the exact same amount of time on Leviathan that you would need to get an Animus weapon, and still never win a roll for a Mirror), and the stingy distribution of Unidentified Allagan Tomestones (one per group, meaning that even in a coordinated static, someone is going to be waiting two months to see one). In relation to those problems, you could make the argument that the Animus weapons are too easy to get (but you wouldn't make that argument, because it's stupid, and the problem, if you think there is one, is pretty obviously with the other two).

I am 400 myth away from finishing my animus weapon, another guy in my FC done a ton of leviathan still waiting for mirror to drop.

The Levi i100 will still be better then your Animus Weapon because Animus attack does not increased, it is the same as the Relic. Not to mention the 13.5k Myth Tomb needed just to upgrade the status to be the same as the Levi as well.

Umm no. The attack does increase on the Animus. The BLM one is the same as the upgraded Levi weapon. Relic and Atma are 69. Animus and Tidal Wave staff are 72.

Animus has the same damage rating as tidal wave weapons. But all this work it should be higher. Hoping the future upgrades make up for it.

It will power up more for another set of effort. Meanwhile, it won't still be comparable to the next set of weapons by the time the Relic Upgrade will be available.

Make it 105 or even 110, then it'll hold its ground as a "Relic" weapon.

I think SE should've made Atma weapons ilvl95, at least SOMETHING for having to sit through countless FATE's instead of JUST being a reskin, then Animus being the real ilvl100 or 105.

It just seems stupid, Adding all 12 Atmas to your weapon changes NO stats yet bumps the ilvl by 10, but grinding through a monumental 13,500 Myth on 9 Trials Books upgrading Stat-by-stat and a final attack increase once they're all complete doesn't change the ilvl AT ALL! It's completely backwards.

No it's not. iLVL determines stat CAPS. This is why HQ and NQ crafted items have the same iLVL, but the NQ has to have materia on main stats to reach that ilvl's stat caps, which the HQ ia at naturally.

This is the exact same thing if you think of Atma as NQ and Animus as HQ, with each book being materia.

the animus weapon quest isnt complete hence the reason the weapon isnt full strength yet lol, we get the next portion of the quest in 2.25 an another portion in 2.3 an possibly more even after that

They better have the ability to increase the Animus further to at least ilvl110 in 2.25, having the Relic weapon 15 ilvls below High Allagan considering the grind to get the Animus itself is a joke.

You can solo the entire line except for easy 4 mans, and the weapon will be continually upgraded in the next few mini patches. The reward is definitely worth it. And people going "YAH BUT, HIGH ALLAGAN WEAPON IS BETTER!". Yah, use that excuse when you are farming turn 9 every week.

Very good point.

Not sure why everyone feels so entitled on their time commitment with animus weapons. If you really feel Levi mirror farming or t7 is easier, go do that content instead. It is like mentioned earlier: As time commitment decreases, the content is harder. Sure weathered weapons seem so easy as you only need to beat t7 but that boss is the goddess of RNG and makes you want to pull your hair out.

I really am only doing it to be one of the first in our FC to have an atma ;)

But yes the stats are the same as Zenith for the base atma but this weapon is suppose to be upgradeable in new patches.
I only wish they were called Zodiak instead of atma or animus, lol

It's an option for completionists or people who don't do coil2/Levi ex. And to be honest there are quite a few people who don't. It's time commitment vs difficulty of content /shrug. I hate the grind for it so I probably will shoot for a different option myself while slowly working on it (to satisfy my own inner completionist).

Since we cannot put any crit in our weapon (seriously ?), aren't we better off staying with allagan until high allagan?
I started animus book but stats are just not interesting....

I do enjoy how people think the SOLO grind, regardless of how long it can potentially take, is actually something that should reward an equivalent to the best gear currently available (if not better). Stellar examples of our New-Age MMO peers and the philosophies that come with them. I highly doubt most (or any) of these people are looking at it from a lore or FF tradition standpoint, but are instead engrossed in the fact that it's new and not many people have it yet. This is evidenced by those who actually understand the story and/or keep up with dev talk.

It's there because it is something that can be upgraded later as the game continues

Just get a good movie going, tough through the atmas..because later on when they implement more upgrades, you are going to complain that you are now extremely behind and it isn't fair.

I like my Animus... and for the people on the fence, all they have to do is release one bad ass patch, where the updates are serious for you to say, I want one now. And then you'll have to go back to the fields for FATE's and begin your 12k myth grind, just to get to the new section, just to make it to the other section of upgrades. To each his own. We are all just giving opinions, but its hard to say something is underpowered which is not yet finished. And a few people want to believe its not gonna be good, just because they don't want to put forth the effort. Go ahead and fight Leviathan extreme 100 times, I'd rather get a weapon I can upgrade, cause then you'll just go fight Ra'muh a 100 times too hoping for a drop when he comes out to get your new weapon, and i'll be upgrading mines.

So to each his own.

TBH T6 is a much more RNG fight than T7. Not much RNG in T7, just get the petrification mechanics straight.

Anyways adding on to what Kluya15 said: yes those who say "get levi weapon" / "high allagan is better" - yeah man. TBH given the pathetic drop rate of mirrors which are worse than ATMA, I see more people with Animus than Tidal weapon. You can say whatever about the animus weapon having crappy seconday stats but that +2 weapon damage is way more important than anything else from your i95 wave/allagan weapon. Even if Animus is just +2 WD with sec stat and VIT alone it is still better than your wave/allag. People need to get this straight, especially DPS classes.

High allagan? Wait till you can farm T9 then we shall talk about it.

Weathered weapon? Some would say it is pretty silly to dump 3 weeks of soldier straight away for an i100 which I probably will agree to a large extend. Unless you really do not have the time for Animus, you should spend your ToS on other gears such as body pieces until you get the Sands of Time then you aim for i110 weapon straight.

Whilst there are teams that managed T8 in i95 weapons, but due to the tough DPS check, having as much DPS as possible is a big plus. Having all 4 DPS using tidal weapons for now.. seems quite impossible and I haven't seen a team like that. But it's easy as hell for all 4 DPS to have Animus and ToS invested in body/accessories pieces for more DPS.

Think the bigger picture, think further.

Supposedly, we'll later on be able customize this relic further?

If so, it will be an amazing weapon as you'd (theoretically) be able to use its baseline and add a stat that would be useful to your build that's normally missing from the relic and only available to the alternatives, like Crit, Accuracy, etc.

Yes, producer said in future patches, just not sure if it's 2.25 or 2.3, we will be able to customize the secondary stats.

Yes for now animus seems underpowered compare to high allagan/tidal wave weapon, but aren't everyone forgetting that animus is the only weapon confirm to be upgradeable in future patch at least until 2.3. There is no coil update in 2.3 meaning that animus is potentially more powerful than high allagan/tidal wave weapon. Farming mirror to upgrade to tidal wave is worse than farming atma for me, I had multiple runs and have not once seen the mirror, in my group only 1 person have gotten the mirror while running with pug. I am taking my time doing the books now, and 1 week per book, I am currently at book 4, so another 5 more weeks to go to complete it. No rush anyway.

I'm not really sure, I can't speak for others. My team are pretty laid back. Due to availability issues of our WAR, we literally did nothing for the past week after clearing T6 and only 2 nights ago we had some serious practice on T7. Typically we raid 4 weekdays for 1.5hr each only, we cleared T6 on 2nd week of patch and for T7 we are working on the last phase.


Our DRG and SMN already got their Animus and I'm near (working on the 8th book).

I understand that it is quite RNG but my personal experience is that there are more people with Animus than tidal weapon. Mirror needs hell lot of time and it's RNG as hell to. I'd rather go Animus where end result is confirmed rather than going for Mirrors - even less advisable for PLD/WHM since they need 2.

And I'm laughing at the primal LS I am in.. as in out of fun. They farmed Levi EX from day one while I largely ignored. Only 5 or less of them have the Tidal version while I'm gonna have my Animus tomorrow or something...

the reason is to why we have to put so much work into it now is when they made the game there was an over sight on how easy it was to get an relic compaired to v1 and since the ffxiv team had a strict dead line to re make this game from scratch so instead of delaying the game to re design the game to fix this they left it easy to get it and are now making it harder to get the upgrade id have to admit it is pita to work to get it upgraded but i am having fun working on it i love working toward something and the end result will be rewarding also the weatherd armor we all have now is also being upgraded as to the same way as the animus weapons since well all be farming t7 to get sands of time to get it up graded

Only that sands of time drop in T8 and I don't see many groups farming it any time soon.
