I want more realistic butt jiggle for my ps4
I love a woman who does her barbell squats; a flat butt is inexcusable in rl and in-game (I am taking this too serious, I know^^).
I could get behind the betterment of our character's bottoms.
If they added a bust slider, they can add at least a few size options for the glute area. As is, it's very unnatural to pick the largest bust size while always having a flat butt. :( I felt forced to pick the smallest bust size on my character just to keep her from looking deformed/too top heavy.
some people take this crap way too seriously...
Already exists;

Wouldn't even responding denote a hint of seriousness too?
It's just a thread poking fun at and discussing why it was removed, nothing "OMG BROKEN GAME" related here.
you guys is prisoner of your own butts
I think the problem is that while, in the West, we regard ample butts as an item of beauty, in the East they're hardly worth noting. The Butt Revolution hasn't hit them yet. Their men are "boob guys" for the most part. It's a tragedy, yes, I know.
While Oppai is indeed popular there, there is still A LOT of interest in behinds. Most Miqo'te fan art is of the rear. For Example:

These being the most tame of a 5 min search for Miqo'te behinds.
I think the devs said your "lack of ass" was due the graphic engine they're using at the moment. But well, if you think about it, miqo'tes are not humes with cat-ears, you've got your own physiognomy now! :D I can't complain about my character's body, she's always using either her paladin armor or her blackmage coat.
Right click the unloaded pic, choose "copy image URL," enter it in a new tab. So does this thread apply to fem posterior only? I assume everyone is satisfied with the male end of things.
It reduced the polygon count (As far as I could tell from the original model/new models wireframe) and also made it easier to apply waist gear (somehow).
Its something that could be fixed rather easily (but at the cost of system processing time and memory) which the game can't afford at the moment.
All buttocks were affected in the 1.23>2.0 transition actually.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwMb6QkBgxI From the Firefall Faire in 1.0, looking at this while playing the game now makes me sad. I really hope they eventually update the models at some point.
I call Shenanigans. FFXI's characters are much better proportioned and it was designed for PS2.
just get over it already. go watch porn for your butt fetish like a normal person.
I think its more everyone wanting a normal looking character, rather than having a butt fetish.
Character look and appeal should be a priority as well as gameplay, since we are always using our characters and see them on a daily basis almost as if they were our second selves.
Even disregarding the butt itself, it's very much a matter of gear looking right on my character. Currently The only lower-body gear that matches upper body gear is loose skirts, which all have the old model's design, which is then made less appealing because the legs are all too thin for skirts. Tight skirts look ridiculous now, and it's not just Miqo'te, it's all races and both genders.
The thing that sets this game apart from the others for me is aesthetics, FFXI was the same way for me: presentation won me over. It's something that has been better than other games imo, and back in 1.x nothing looked sloppy and I supported the idea of 2.0 with high hopes-- there was no warning the models would take a hit this drastically.
I'm not saying it wasn't worth it, but I just think it should be treated like a Band-Aid, something temporary to get us through these initial stages, but to be revisited later when the game stabilizes. How about instead of negativity, we acknowledge that while this is a legitimate request, we should emphasize that it should be put on a somewhat low priority.
You have a knack for going into every thread and complaining.
But, pretty much what Vejjiegirl said. The characters used to look proportionate and highly detailed, now they're so heavily compressed and retopologised they've lost almost all the hard work and detail that went into the original models.
Why settle for an low-detailed model when the capability for a higher one is there.
Tell me about it. I shouldn't have watched it. Those character models, those inertia animations!
It's honestly absolutely ridiculous that SE thinks "Some players might find the microsecond it takes to start or stop moving stressful!" is a good excuse. Man I miss the old aesthetics...
Sir Mix-A-Lot would approve of this thread.
I would like to see them take this on as an eventual. I kinda think it would be best to roll out along with say an expansion that has a new race since they will probably be doing a lot of work with the older armor at that time anyway. This has kinda bothered me for quite a while - I always thought something looked off about my character, but couldn't quite place it until I saw these threads.
THOSE are the butt models that one guy cried about for like 90 pages?
Okay you people overhyped the everloving shit out of the old model anatomy. The Miqote's are flat in 1.0 as well. They've lost more hip then ass. The only real thing the new models suffer from is the lack of physics-assisted animations.
I finally get to see a good in-game video of the bare 1.0 models and they're identical to the ones now with a few more polygons. I just don't get some of you.
No seriously though, just watch porn.
By "everything" I assume you mean everything excluding the copy pasted starting areas right?
Honestly, it really was only the starting areas that had the copy pasted locations, which is all of three areas. They were very large starting areas, but still only three areas out of many more with higher detail and thought put into them.
I'm willing to bet more than half the people who originally played 1.0-1.23 had no idea that there were unique and secret areas in the game you could explore for fun. It makes me miss those little things in games where the developers would hide special locations and see how long it took their players to find them. Apparently, FFXI still has some locations in the original release and Zilart expansion that have not been discovered yet.
Based upon your own observations it should be abundantly clear that the majority of people asking for a revision are not looking to fulfill some sexual urge with a video game.
As you said, the old models are lacking mostly in hips BUT this only applies to the Miqo'te models. The Hur (male/female), and Elezen (male/female) are missing much more in the rear area.
As a side note, we have more "physics-assisted animation" (lol) now than we did in the old version which, to me, was completely unnecessary and if they were going to do that then they could have left the butts alone...
Im sure its easy to hide special locations when the world maps were endless hellscapes of nothing, and the secret areas were too.
Merge all current zones into one endless zone and you pretty much have endless hellscapes of nothing again with a few places to look at here and there.
Whereas one version had "soft" zone-lines so you didn't feel like you were changing locations, the new version has "hard" zone-lines so you know when you've changed locations.
Divide up 1.0's areas based upon the soft zone-lines and you pretty much have areas of the same size as 2.0's but with more of them. Give all of 2.0's areas soft zone-lines, it's the reverse and basicly the same as 1.0 but without as much space.
Some people like it that way, some don't, whatever floats your boat. I personally have nothing against hard zone-lines, I played FFXI for 8 years and never once complained about them.
*EDIT*
I also forgot to mention, 80% of those copy pasted areas people would complain about in 1.0 were the soft zone-lines, so I'm not sure why so many people expected them to expend resources on areas where literally nothing happened.
Stuff like this makes me sad. 1.0 was legitimately one of the few games that I was just completely taken in by the graphics. People say the zones where cut/pasted, which is true; but the fact that the whole game was completely open world, instead of zoned off into sections, made it so much fun to just wander around and explore.
And those models, man. Especially the animations. No corners where cut there.
Edit: Also upon thinking of 1.0 and it's animations, how good where the cut scenes? Your character didn't just poweralk in a straight line, and then instantly stop and stare lol.
The models were an unfortunate loss, but the cutscenes were understandable.
To make cut scenes like the ones that featured in 1.23 had a HUGE production time. 2.0 had a strict schedule to the most basic cutscenes they could come up with were implemented.
Lots of interesting code was created for the 1.23 cutscenes, one such example was the Coblyns running over a hill, where they coded in a procedural animation set for the coblyn leg animations when running to make sure they all ran at different times/speeds from each other.
Lots of work went into small details in 1.23, but sadly the overall picture was swallowed by time conusming tasks that took far too long to complete (apparently bad development timing/scheduling too)
No careful character planning, animation, framing, post-effect editing, timing, mise en scene, etc. That went into the originals.
2.0 had a slap-dash of "Sure this'll do fine!" which I hope they reconsider in the future, facial animation are the worst when comparing 1.23 > 2.0.
All your character does is /shocked and /yes now. It's like a nodding dog.
I fully support this cause! At least give us an option to use the far superior 1.0 character models and only yourself and people who have activated it can see them, so PS3s all over the world don't blow up! :(
way to take what i said literally lolol. incredible.
i'd suggest that you all go play a game whose character models are more pleasing to you. this shit is ridiculous. especially because if you understand anything about game development, and this game in particular, you'd know that this is a fool's errand; they aren't going to change the character models for you. sorry. better find something else negligible to complain about.
