f; will the 1 week restriction be eased?
y; we are planning to remove the 1 week restriction on turn 1-5
Content gets nerfed which is what happens in almost every mmo but I didn't expect them to nerf things so soon =T
I think you need to calm down Galand, you're making a giant leap from removed weekly lockout to run over and over for gear. There isn't enough information to be sure about how it will be implemented, for all we know they will remove the weekly lockout and add a gear lockout like CT. Perhaps 1-5 will drop a reduced amount of the new tomestones? Perhaps a 72 hour lockout?
Even if you can run over and over to get i90 gear who cares? You have from now until 2.2 to find reliable and/or skilled people to run 6-9 with.
Why do you say it like its a normal thing? This is honestly a d**k move by SE to invalidate the last 4 months of effort a lot of people were patient enough to withstand. This is a disgrace... It bothers me how insensitive you are to the OP's qualms becsuse its a perty big deal...
I don't understand some people.
- people cry foul over coils weekly lock out of each turn. It gets changed with no lockouts period and people cry foul still?
Wth jc
I actually think its a good thing they are tweaking difficulty. It gives the players who may not be as skilled or geared, or play casually a chance to enjoy the Coil of Bahamut content as well; and admit it, we all hate weekly lockouts... I really don't think this was a stab by SE to make previous players upset that they had it "more difficult"
It's no different than CoP was in XI. They removed the level cap so that newer players could experience the content too without having to beg for help from other players. Back then people were angry too, but learned to accept that SE did this to benefit the whole, not just the few who would probably not retry the content later anyways, since they already had new content to master.
People are complaining but aren't thinking about it for a sec... coming here to whine with no logic behind their reasoning.
1-5 lock out is removed so people can catch up, 6-9 remains locked.
nothing to cry about... i just don't understand why CT remains locked though
I like how this individual completely ignores the upcoming stronger gear, implies his only way to see if someone is a good player is with RNG on his side to get Coil loot (screw good players that "aren't DRG or MNK", right? And screw if a player didn't get that loot in another job, right?) and says that other people can't read English while he seems to enjoy beating his head on the keyboard and clicking "Post Quick Reply" himself.
Wait, actually I don't like it.
It's so hard to balance the difficulty of the game to satisfy both the hardcore and casual players. The devs are gonna have to choose: continue to make the game casual friendly or tailor it to the hardcore crowd. It appears they are continuing with the former, which, not surprisingly, turns off a lot of the hardcore players.
Because casuals don't understand/don't care.
They just want their welfare items so they can feel powerful like all the good players for a few moments, then move on to the next tier of content, fail, and immediately revert back to crying to SE that the content is too hard/unfair.
What is this "Eco Buff"? Can you tell me more? Also, when they mean no lock out, does it mean you can Repeated Spam a Turn 1 - 5 all day long? Wouldn't that make CT obsolete and as well as Myth Tomb?
The story mode "you fail too much" version increases VIT (by a moderate amount) and Determination (by a huge amount). Can't remember the exact figures and it might do something else I didn't notice, only once did I fail at something so bad, think it was a GLA or PLD job quest, the one where the NPCs only heal you "if they feel like it".
I will give you a free (FREE OMG NO MONEY DOWN) education on MMO gearing.
Best in Slot gear is the best for the current content. Once new content comes out Best in Slot (BiS) will be replaced by new BiS. When this happens, the old gear is now worthless for the majority of the "Best" players. Now, the averge gamer aspires to get the old BiS while slowly working on the new.
If this cycle repeats a few times WITHOUT the devs making the old BiS easier to acquire....you end up in a state where the new or average gamer falls behind. Someone who recently started or hasn't seriously played for a while would need to gear through 2 or 3 or 4 sets of gear to get back to the current gear.
If new content "Coil 20" requires gear from 15/19 to tackle it, and 15 requires gear from 6/10 to have a shot at it....and you cant get gear from 15 since your still in 1/5 gear and no one is doing the "old" 6/10...well I would hope you can see the problem.
By making the tier exactly one step behind new content farmable and easy to aquire, everyone new and old subscribers, can participate.
I myself will be happy to set foot into Coil whenever it suits me...that being said, I get it. You "worked" for gear that took you months of raiding to obtain, and some haven't gotten a drop at all. SE already stated that content would work in this fashion...2 months from now the "hardcores" upset about this will be caught up in higher ilvl content and worried about getting even bigger numbers. You earned your gear currently, so take pride in that, along with earning the achievements linked to BCoB. That is all the proof you need to say you got there before the casual crowd you speak of.
Who gives a shit? Are you gonna be Pugging T6-9? No you're still staying with your group. If you're going to then it'd be the same as pugging it when the game just started, gonna end up horribly. Calm your nipples.
Jesus christ.... Oh wait even he can't stop the raining threads of the same crap.
If you're not already in full item level 90 gear by time 2.2 drops you're already behind. Some people already have 2-3 item level 90 Jobs. Putting this content on farm makes no difference.
As for Crystal Tower; Mythology will still be useful for people wanting their level 90 Job sets for vanity reasons, as will the Crystal Tower loot.
People still don’t understand the concept of adding new content.
Let’s say you have 2 bosses, 1000 player and 2 sets of gear.
To beat 2nd boss you need full set of the first boss.
70% of the players will beat the first boss, and 25% out of the 70% will beat the 2nd, the other 30% still trying to beat the first boss.
A new 3rd boss is added, to beat him you need to have full set of 2nd boss.
Now they nerf the first boss, the 25% out of the 70% will go at the 3rd boss first, followed by the rest of the 70% and the other 30% still trying to beat the 2nd boss.
So the 2nd boss will be the first and the 3rd will be the 2nd all over again.
If they don’t do that (nerf the first boss) the gap between the 25% and the 30% will be very big that by time you will end up with no one to play with.
Their statement isn't the problem, its simply that players are trigger happy and quick to make grand assumptions.
There is no mention that players are now able to receive coil loots repeatedly within the same week, if CT is of any indication, there will be item loot restrictions but players are able to run the dungeon repeatedly without the 1 week lockout.
Basically this is the how things are going to progress:
Darklight
Coil 1-5 and Myth
Release 1st Crystal Tower dungeon 3 months later for an extra half step in between for those who can't hack it in Darklight
Release Coil 6-9 and new tomes 3 months after that, Myth/Coil 1-5 gear becomes new Darklight, lockouts on 1-5 removed and echo buff put in for those who -still- haven't gotten their full Coil 1-5/myth gear.
Release 2nd Crystal Tower dungeon 3 months later for an extra half step for those who can't hack 6-9 in Coil 1-5/Myth gear
Release Coil 10-14 and final tome set 3 months after that, New Tome/coil 6-9 gear becomes new darklight, lockouts on 6-9 removed and echo buff put in for those who -still haven't gotten their full Coil 6-9/new tome gear.
Release Final Crystal Tower dungeon 3 months later for an extra half step for those who can't hack 10-14 in coil 6-10/new tome gear
Expansion comes out, lockouts removed for coil 10-14 to allow anyone who hasn't finished it up to do it. Expansion makes all this gear obsolete, anyway.
I mean, this was the plan from the start people. If you didn't realize it, you weren't paying attention.
Makes no difference to me as somebody who clears T1-5 in less than an hour each week if they nerf it and make it farm-able.
If you could not beat T1-5 pre nerf chances are you will not do well in T6-9. Let the players who can't take on the harder content experience an easier version when new content is added. It allows them to keep some challenge in the game for the more skilled players and dumbs it down later for the others.
This is not news and was the model SE stated they planned to use from the very start of ARR.
The higher end groups will always be ahead of the other groups. It does not matter if they nerf old content to allow groups to catch up a bit.
personally I think they should go the CT route and just keep the weekly lock outs but be able to spam the quests to help your fc mates and since most people are in statics when they run coil you can easily help and gear each other. It takes me and my static 45 mins to run T1-T4.
This guy, and all of the other people whining about this, are just butthurt that Square-Enix is not leaving the non-tryhards behind like they did with FFXI. This is normal MMO procedure; new content is released, old content is deprecated. Less dedicated players can now experience the old content without having to change the way they play the game. Current endgame players can quickly patch any holes in their equipment and gear their alternate jobs to make the new content smoother.
Business as usual, but to folks like the OP, it's the end of the world because for some strange reason, they seem to gain an inordinate amount of pleasure out of making sure most of the playerbase cannot participate in most of the content.
Which is bad thing, goddammit!Quote:
everyone new and old subscribers, can participate.
RIGHT AWAY with the insults. Show some damn respect. There isn't even anything stupid about this. That's YOUR opinion. It doesn't mean that your opinion is correct.
But then again...do YOU understand english? Because it was never implied that they WOULDN'T remove lockouts.
And guess what! There's probably a time in the future where there is no Myth Cap. Does that break your heart snookums? Don't worry you'll be okay.
It'll never end unfortunately...people have the need to feel "entitled" I guess. People like this think they're professional and they can make a game better than Square Enix. That's how they think. People don't understand...or even consider the processes that take place behind the scenes.
This...what
Are you really that insecure about your precious time spent obtaining your i90?
Good lord chill out. It will be outdated content. It'll be the new Darklight for the patch like many others have said. You have obviously NOT played a lot of MMO's. This is standard protocol. Old content gets nerfed so people can get into new content faster. The game won't sell well or even be popular if people can't jump into new content in a timely manner. That's just bad design.
MMO player realized they wasted large amounts of time for pixels- throws tantrum that others will now get those pixels and he will have to waste time getting better pixels- News at 11.
