It doesn't boggle mine, I'd say 2~3 mil is very affordable even for non-legacy servers.
You can generate 20k+ gil per day by doing dungeons alone.

No, you won't have the gil by tomorrow. It takes work, don't want to? Then don't do it, but do not expect handouts.

If they make it like Guild Housing, where you lose it if you don't use it frequently enough, it'll basically turn off a large group of people from it. I know the last thing I'd want is to drop 1, 2, 3 Million Gil on a personal house only to lose it all because I took a 3 month break or something.

Hopefully they do it right and just give everyone a house. Then if you want to upgrade it to be bigger etc. it will cost you gil.

Well, the typical japanese apartment. As you see on the picture, the couple sleep there (the old man is probably just a guest, i cannot see his futon). Bathroom and shower are probably shared externally, as much wouldn't surprise me if a corner of that apartment had the micro shower and micro toilet

Well assuming you are on an FC owning a house mid and big (am i wrong or small houses will not have any room for members? Where you put guestroooms, considering it's a single floor already occupied by furniture :confused: ) the price will probably be around 30-35% of the house price (based on the server's price).
Aka fail content noone is looking forward except a few players worldwide.

Does anyone even believe this is coming any time soon? If they weren't ready for FC housing, how are they going to be ready for personal? I would love to see it as it could revitalize the game/markets.

I really hope they make personal housing accessable to all via cheep entry prices for the minimum housing options, and making the extravagent houses expensive in comparison.

Personal housing will likely be cheap, and also likely be nothing like folks seem to imagine it will be. Folks seem to believe that it will be set up like FC housing, with zones full of plots of land and stuff to develop, but I find that notion to be extremely unlikely. Even FC housing is already more than SE's servers can handle, with a mere 450 houses per server. Personal housing done in the same way would need to accomodate at a minimum ten times as many homes.

Personal housing will be a hole in the wall you enter - the same hole that everyone else enters - and suddenly you're in a room that you have a limited ability to personalize. If you're very lucky, you might be able to invite others to enter the room, but neither they nor you will ever see the outside of your home. The poster who mentioned housing in FFXI was likely dead on - set your expectations for this, and you likely won't be disappointed. My price estimate for this privilege (a privilege granted in FFXI for free) will be 100k, regardless of server.

Legacy servers 25-100 million because apparently SE believes we are all filthy stinking rich.

In my server the Smallest FC house cost 8 millions. So i think probably around 1 mil will be price. I wanted to be realistic with the prices.

For me a "Just" Price could be 150 - 250k in Non Legacy server.

According with Square, the amount of money circulate in legacy server is High than Non Legacy server, so i expect the prices be higher in those servers.

This is a speculation prices post. I can say the price "I WANT", if you dont like my prices move on, dont read my post, dont answer me, i dont care if you agree or no with my prices.

Small: 4m
Medium: 8m
Large: 12m

The work should be in upgrading and decorating, not just accessing the content... Just as the work in Coil comes from fighting the bosses, not clicking on the entrance point.

In an MMO that (re)released in 2013, when there are housing systems in the market miles above FFXI's system, we have every right to expect more than that from Squee. I'm not saying it's what we'll get, but I am certainly going to be disappointed in them if they drop the ball again. Asking people to set their expectations low for a product is a sure-fire way of receiving a substandard product and horrible consumer practice.

Probably the same or more as FC housing on legacy servers. Since even now only a handful have bought houses so obviously there is still a few individuals with ALL the gil which cause the system to be designed to try and remove their fortunes in particular. Screwing over everyone else in the process.

I did remember them saying it was 6 months down the track from 2.1, so people will have MORE gil by then.

That being the case I hope you'll make the housing a meaningful gameplay element and not just a visual treat like the FC houses. The crafting buff is a nice attempt but means nothing next to leve xp.

That 2 million isn't affordable to you boggles my mind. Even on a non legacy server it is neither hard nor time consuming to make 2 million gil. There are numerous ways to make gil in this game, but if you choose not to use any of them then you probably shouldn't complain about being poor either.

one thing that would help immensely is to have each plot of land the same size, even while it woudl take some extra work to do i believe this would be best for several reasons, the land itself would be cheap to get and that would allow everyone to get a place for the house, the houses themselves would be more expensive but no matter what happens you would still be able to upgrade your house to a bigger size because the land itself would be capable of it. The only other option i see would be to have the lands themselves in seperate instances but that is a bit much concidering the rumored issues with the FC housing and such.

I've heard that mentioned around but I'm curious to know the source of that statement

They really do need to make housing the hole in the wall and you start with a shack. But you can eventually work to do a series of upgrades for increasing amounts of gil. This way your house can transfer with you if ever need be. We have the FC houses for neighborhoods, doesn't really need to be for personal too. Maybe have a tiny patch of land your house sits on, but most likely it'd only be inside.

Here's my speculation with personal housing:

Small - 300,000 gil. Uses same small building as FC houses.

Medium - 800,000 gil. Similar to FC housing's medium except no basement

Large - 2,000,000 gil. Again, no basement. Same model as an FC house.

Of course I could be wrong on medium and large. SE have players and FC's using the same house models, which I'd be okay with honestly. Though I think personal housing should have its own unique models at least.

I don't know why that price feels low to me. o.O Considering the way they've priced FC housing, I am expecting large to be least 5 mil gil and small to be somewhere around the 1 mil mark or slightly less. Gil is easy to make if you do all the roulettes once everyday, do treasure hunting at least once a dayand do beast tribe dailies.

I have a feeling this is what will happen...
Step one: Yoshi and Dev team claim that housing will be affordable, perhaps so much so that every character can get it.
Step two: A week before the patch is released, give a sudden shift change and tell everyone that housing will really cost ten-million gil for the smallest house in the worst section (twenty-million on legacy servers), with the best house going for thirty-million (or forty-million on legacy)
Step three: SQE attempts to defend the prices with ill-fated logic. "We don't want the rich to buy up all the plots, making it so the poor can't have any.. so we're raising the price so much that not even the rich can afford it."
Step four: Servers crash
Step five: People don't bother with the feature at all, which then reinforces SQE's idea that they shouldn't bother to give the community anything if they won't use it.
