That might be their true reason to the cap, but they stated it was to prevent Legacy players from out gearing new/casual players from the start. I honestly think you are going to lose more people having a lockout than you would if they removed it. Casual players will go through CT until they get what they want and they are happy. Get the same result out of Coil.

The cap is here so the highest ilevel gear is not too fast common until the next ilevel tier is ingame. If SE increase the cap then they should also bring ilevel 90 recipes for the crafters.

Getting the highest lvl gear in the game (i90) is already way too easy. You will still be complaining about lack of content, you will just be complaining a couple months earlier. I agree coil should be like ct loot rules, but I like the myth cap.

i dont see what everyones rush to max out all jobs is, there are only a handful of encounters where having full i90 will even make a difference anyways. being ilvl 70-80 is more that adequate for 90% of the content in the game

I'm not even a "hardcore" player and I'm sick of the myth cap. I'm glad they raised it, but I wish it would be raised a bit more. I can cap myth in 2-3 days using roulette; Sooner if I really put in the effort. Then I spend the rest of the week crying to people about how I wish it was Monday already so I can go farm more myths. Main reason; I'm super sick of being in DL gear. Part of the fun of leveling up is getting new gear and weapons. But you lose all of that fun at 50 when you spend months trying to get the next new gear and weapons.

I feel like this game is trying to force me to level other classes just to have something to do. I have zero interest in leveling anything else. I guess this game wasn't built for people like me.

If you feel that way then I'm sorry. I'm not asking for anything free, but I do want gear progression. I could level every other job to 50, grind out dailies for Philosophy tomes, and gear up everything in Darklight, but that isn't going to help me get any further into end game. Every other game I've played, you can control how fast you gear up. I've never seen game mechanics that prevent you from obtaining gear.

You are crazy. Caps are there so that you don't blow your load and then just leave cause you played yourself into boredom. Yes it artificially extends the life of end game but seeing how the game isn't even 6 months old yet you can't be serious about wanting everything already.

WoW. Another game, and quite popular still from what I understand. They also put a cap on how quick you can earn the top level gear. So, now the crying can stop. FFXIV is NOT the only game that feels that people should not be able to gear up quickly just because they have no life.

Really? Every game I've played has had gating mechanics of one kind or another at end-game (real end-game, not group based stuff we have here) that prevented you from ensuring you could get your absolute best gear as fast as you wanted.

Raid dungeons and raid bosses had lockout timers (not as long as here usually, but at least twenty four hours) and they also dropped a limited amount of gear while requiring many more people than we need here for i90. And a lot of games are still RNG based while offering tokens to ease the RNG pain but not alleviate it completely.

Again, a three day lockout to have a fight that ends up dropping ~4 pieces of gear with maybe 1-2 of those being a potential upgrade and having to RNG/DKP it out amongst 24 people means you can potentially go much longer without seeing an upgrade than we have here.

You are guaranteed an upgrade every week here.

The games I played to end-game in in the past I could go a month without an upgrade if I was unlucky. But I kept going anyway because I was helping other people catch up.

Where is said tutorial that is designed for WW on tanks, and not melee DPS?

Regardless... any competent tank can eat and survive a double WW with relative ease.

broaden your horizons, stop trying to spend 8 hours a day in game.

it's impossible to create enough content for people that play that much so you're pretty much out of luck.

You're right. I'm not happy but I did state that I would be happy with them making Coil like CT. Run it as much as you like, but limit it to one item per week. Otherwise get rid of the cap.

Being at end-game does not make one not casual.

My partner and I both have a maxed level class and while we're working on our 'end-game' equipment we're taking our good sweet time doing it because we're also fooling around with other classes, with crafters and gatherers and with just being in the world with people.

Considering how incredibly easy it is to get to max level, and how incredibly easy it is to acquire tomestones if you want to it is very easy to play it casually and still be up there with the so-called 'hardcore.'

Im sure trhey'll increase the mythology cap gradually as they add more content. Its merely a restraint so everyone doesnt overgear so much and get bored of the game even faster lol

Level other jobs, get more gears for the vanity system, help your FC buy a house, level your crafting jobs for profit, there's a lot to do, you just gonna have the will to do it.

If you're completely tired of FF14, then just go and take a break until the next major patch with crisp new content.

Interesting point, the most "elite" players in this game play pretty casual hours. I.e. Clear coil, clear Ex primals, finish up tomes. If you have a solid static/fc this is only really only a few hours of play on your main class to be finished for the week. Of course we're ignoring Alt jobs there, but "elite" does not equal "hardcore" generally. Not in the sense of playing and grinding 24/7.

It was hard at 300, and a little easier at 450 with the new ways to get points, but I'm never capped before Sunday.
And this Sunday, after hitting cap I spend a few hours playing FFXIII-2 which I want to finish before FFXIII-3 comes out.
