When does personal housing take effect? Wasnt said 6month after release?
Not alot of people talk about the fact thst prices go down every few hrs. And that by 90 days prices will be reduced by half. But thats still quite alot depending on the server.
I guess I'm lucky that my server's housing will me 3mil minimum so in 3 months it'll be 1.5 mil.
So move on down to Zalera! Buy low and sell high, lol
People need to realize that that's exactly who the highest price houses are designed for, the elite few who can afford it. The bigger the house and nicer the land, the fewer people who should have access to it.Quote:
Yes there are probably people with that much money, but aren't they just a very small portion of the population?
As for smaller houses:
They're affordable, people just don't want to pay for someone elses stuff with their own money.Quote:
The reason donations aren't higher is because people don't want to give their gil, not because they don't have it. I'm sure plenty of these "poor" free companies have members rolling around in millions of gil. But who wants to put their own personal wealth into something for other people that won't even be theirs?
The FC Benefits is towards DoH so it depends on your value for certain things but new players will certainly benefit from these bonuses from FC Housing.
Legacy player won't have any use for these since most have maxed everything and can access all DoH cross skills for a better chance at HQ items even for 2 star crafts but new players will have use for these benefits since they don't have all the benefits of every single crafting class yet.
There is also Exp bonus for people to level their crafting faster (since HQ turn in for leves have been reduced).
Personal Housing bonuses is more towards personal stuff like DoW and DoM classes for PvE and maybe DoL stuff.
These benefits are all determined by what Towers and Parks you will put into the Personal House or FC House.

Billions of that gil is in the hands of the gil sellers ESPECIALLY on the Legacy servers. They seem to have doubled, perhaps even tripled their efforts. The /tells are almost CONSTANT. It is so bad that is disrupting my game. They are offering millions of gil for pennies. GET YOUR FREE COMPANY A HOUSE! This is going into their advertising. 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% extra gil if you BUY TODAY!
The market places are crashing. Everything is selling for about a 4th, if not a 10th of what it was two days ago. Just moments ago, Quicktongue 3 prices were fluctuating around 12-17k each on Balmung server with the tier 4s between 70-90k. Newer servers the prices are 3 times this.
This is not a matter of being jealous of others, it's about taking a look at the big picture. This has hurt the game. I can't take two steps without having to /block someone. I only have a few slots left on my blocked list. And with the market crashing, it's creating an absolute disparity of epic proportions.
It's up close to 1400 now. You have to measure things relatively, of course. Compared to the number of likes on other threads on the forum, this is certainly a majority of forum users who feel that way. But sure, feel free to show me a thread with 'House prices are perfectly fine!' that has a comparable number of likes. :)Quote:
1100 out of 600,000. So we're up to 0.2% of the player base. Some majority.
There in lies the issue. The people that are fine or meh about the issue aren't going to be the ones to speak up/create tons of threads. They aren't trying to change anything or be heard. The number is still fairly low after you take out the number of gamers that just don't visit the mmo forums. The only accurate picture SE is going to get is going to come in 1-3 months when they look at the number of houses that have been bought.
DEV post where are you?
your whole community says you messed up.
There is also a lot of the player base that gives two shits about forums or patch notes. So shit hasn't even hit the fan yet until people go to try and buy a house. And its not going to take a month for SE to get their numbers, 1-2 weeks at the most and that's accounting for people having to get rank 6 to even purchase the land.
Bump
That's assuming people even have to "get" to rank 6. FC points didn't stop accumulating when people hit rank 5. Many FCs that started within a month of release are going to hit rank 6-8 as soon as the patch is up. It's going to take more than a month because SE didn't assume that people would be buying large houses within the first few weeks. They have a set time period (unknown to us) where they think people will buy houses and that probably takes the increased gil generation of 2.1 into account. I would put any change to prices at 1-2 months at the earlier and 3 months at the latest. Hopefully, the forum posts will make them relook at the numbers that they used to set the prices (i.e. gil spread among FCs/characters), but I don't see them changing course without letting gil generation changes take effect.
I do think that the 1400+ would/should warrant a look into their initial data. I wouldn't get my hopes up that anything south of 100,000, which is impossible to get overnight (unless you are Beyonce), is going to make a sudden change. And even then, what's the change going to be? Are they going to slash a zero, or are they going to reduce the initial price by half? It's going to take time no matter what decision they choose.
Sadly, this.
I'm of two minds on the issue. On the one hand I'm saying "now do you see why I wanted full wipes on gil all through beta and even before it but legacy players kept telling me it would ruin the game to reset all server economies?". On the other, yes I agree the prices are high but it's also meant to be something to work towards over a long term, specially when keeping in mind that housing is not really complete.
If you want a decent comparison, Clan bonuses and ranking were expensive as hell in certain old korean grinder MMOs. Lineage II in particular had the leader make notable sacrifices in order to be able to upgrade their clan to an acceptable level. Specially for small clans, it took a looooooooong time to gather the money and SP needed to rank up continuously, and the prices got more and more ridiculous the further up you went. And the prices shown for Free Company housing give me flashbacks to those days. I can't say whether it is a good thing or not, but I will also mention that some of you wanted long term stuff to work towards because you got bored of farming myth/phil stones and running WP/AK daily. In a way, you got what you asked for. >.>
Thank you for your translation of my post!
We are in completely agreement with many of the NA players.
Yes, this is very very sad, unhappy thing.
I guess SE will take some time to analyze the effective reactions of the players into the game, i only hope this feeling of unfairness reach them.
Not leaving the first page. so says this BUMP
The Japanese players have linked back this post asking for their players to like our posts back. Japanese and English players are uniting in their dislike of the current prices set forth by the 2.1 patch. =D
A man once said...

so be very afraid SE. Now the people have gathered.
I think this is all just a plan to try and take away money from the richest people in the economy as housing at the moment doesn't provide any major benefits currently but will be expanded on in further patches. After 90 days the land will most likely hit their half price and only a few more will sell. I assume at this point they are going to check the gil on the servers and heavily modify the prices based on availability and remaining gil on the economy.
Perhaps with the huge costs of land on some servers they are trying to push some FC's onto a cheaper server and spread population more evenly too (not to mention the additional cash they would generate from the server transfer fees)
I am disappointed as I feel they have excluded the majority from this content immediately when they had announced it as a supposed popular casual feature.
Or Square-Enix just screwed up which I think is most likely.
8 million gil to purchase a house effectively the size of a free personal mog house in XI which can actually hold 10 more pieces of furniture than these houses. What a bargain!
Link to the video showing the size of free company housing, please and thank you.
That's because that's not how you made money in FFXI. Like, at all. It was very easy to make gil there.
Farming is, and probably always will be, the most inefficient way to make money in a game.
The thing that really bothers me are the white knights popping up trying to make these ridiculous prices out to be a "good" thing, to get rid of "casuals." Gil-grinding is not difficult, it is not hardcore; what it is is monotonous and not fun at all. I left FFXI after 7 years because it had devolved into some sort of second job, farming the same sh*t over and over without any real payoff or satisfaction. My fears are that FFXIV could easily become the same thing with ludicrous stuff like this. Buying land (people keep forgetting these crazy prices are just for the land, we haven't even factored in the cost of the house itself or its furnishings) should be something attainable by all... for chrissakes even the grindy FFXI provided homes for free. This is just going to foster more resentment towards the "1%" of Eorzeans and also give elitist @ssholes an additional thing to look down their noses on to those who can't afford it.
In short, it's a very odd classist sort of move on SE's part, and hopefully they see the error of their ways... otherwise this'll serve as just another excuse for people to jump to more fun pursuits and leave all the nasty elitists on the sinking ship.
Correction: upper-middle-class-kinda-sorta-rich-people get 'rich' by not spending money foolishly.
Rich people usually get rich by being extremely lucky, then they spend their ungodly sums of wealth on inordinately extravagant ventures that happen to suit their mood of the moment.
Those aren't White Knights, man. Those are just elitists.
Honestly, I'm neutral on the whole thing. On the one hand, yeah, this is definitely way more expensive than I intended to pay for a house, and my small FC is nowhere near being able to afford the house I wanted to get. On the other hand, it's still early in the development for this idea, and I expect changes to come in the future, such as a hefty price drop.
Either way, I'm just going to wait and see for the time being, and keep saving up my gil for when housing's more affordable.
20 Mil on my server and it's not for the house but for the ground where you want to put your house on btw.
wonder what this will do:
* Purchasing land or housing using gil obtained from RMT (real money trading) or other illicit means is strictily prohibited. Any land or estate hall deemed to have been purchased through such means is subject to seizure.
Mrhappys' thoughts about housing prices

This is still a paid subscription game right? Players pay for fun. Elitists or not.
Don't push players towards rmt. Elitists amounts or not. Please. Let players have fun :o
Thank you.
They should have made all land same size with different class price. Or make it upgradable. Or only housing have different prices.
True elitists don't have an unified opinion towards this. It's literally nothing more than a gil grind, there is no skill ceiling, there is no technique only a good player would be able to employ, it is simply a numbers game. It's no different from putting your nose to the grindstone and getting everything to 50, nothing elitist about it, it's just single-minded determination.
