CT loot lockout and the direction of this game will probably cause our FC to quit

It doesn't change the fact that this is the first major content patch and your FC is already getting ready to bail. Amazingly, incredibly fickle and unreliable. Laughable even, considering the game hasn't even been out for three months, they're already releasing a content patch and that isn't enough for you.

To put it another way, FCs/guilds/whatever like yours don't stick around anyway.

In honesty, I much prefer this loot lockout than the 1.0 raid ring looting. Those that play it would know it could take months b4 a dark light body drop etc and most if time was green item. At least this loot lockout guarantees u loot each week, same to myth n coil, u are actually gurantees loot. Rather than 1.0 where u can spend months on farming with mist days netting u with nothing but green gears.

At least can spam content to have fun or help others n new players. Making friends and all. If they didn't had lockout, it do be farm finish within a couple if weeks for the ppl who spend many hours a day, then what? U do be complaining nothing do as got everything. Is only the minority that got this kind of time n complaining nothing do.

It may not be a reason you like, but it is still a valid reason. But let's contest it a bit, shall we? What else should they be looking for? Friendship? If it is indeed a guild, then I would like assume some semblance of friendship is at play. One could also assume a certain degree of self-sacrifice in doing things you don't personally need for the sake of "team building" in the now. Yet, I can not and do not expect people to work for charity, and gear is how we're primarily paid in these games for our efforts. Lockout or not, the repetition and ennui is going to build and people will crave the next new thing.

People wanting to shoot down the next new thing before it's even out isn't good. If you can't see that, there's no further convincing I can offer in eloquence or effusion.

I've said it in another thread, but favoring one poor loot system over another poor loot system really isn't a win for us players. Choosing the lesser of two evils rarely is.

I could go to another FC and I might. Still thinking about it cause I suck at meeting new people. I like this game a lot but I am bummed about the CT lockout because I was going to spend time gearing my alts in CT. Even thought I might pick up some stuff for my main since I haven't seen a Coil drop in 4 weeks.

I wish they would have told us they were going to lock it out so I would have leveled jobs on alts and not one character. All my jobs are on one character and it sucks.

Personally not really seeing much difference for me in terms of 1.0 drop rates as compared to this lockout, been to coil for 10 weeks, how much total bard stuff has dropped? Our survey says 2 items, earrings and choker. So from my standpoint I no longer care if there is a slim drop rate and you can spam it or a lockout with guaranteed drops because from where I stand it is basically the same thing.

Remember when all the people complained about coil not letting people run multiple times with other groups of friends, just to help each other gear? So many people were like "Just lock us out of gear after our first run. I'd run this over and over, even if I couldn't get the gear I wanted... just cuz it's fun and I'm helping others and want to try this on my monk instead of being forced to heal."

Now that's what's going to happen and the people are angry that they got what they asked for. (Except you are only locked out after you actually get the piece you want)

Not to mention the fact that people are angry that SE is going backwards for this recommended dungeon level saying things like "What's the point of even doing CT? I have coil gear" and then turning around and raging about not being able to get lower iLevel gear faster.

Sorry, just hoping someone else is finding this as entertaining as I am. It's a game guys. Play for glory and the loot will follow.

Regardless if they leave or not the casuals will end up getting bored as well at some point or a new game will be released thats even better and they will leave as well. Personally if I was to leave I wouldnt be back, others that leave may not return either. Seeing this is a remake of a failed game some if not a lot wont give SE a third try at it. You need a healty population of all player types not just 1 or 2 this is something that SE needs a reminder about.

When you make a game where leveling is easier and faster than a game called World of Warcraft, you better be prepared to have tons of content to keep players interested.

haha that's how I feel. I was hoping to gear all my jobs in CT gear since I'm fine not touching CoB but it doesn't look like that's happening anymore. I would of been happy with a 1 day lock out but a 1 week lock out is a downer.

4th set shows a female monk using a fist move in the same video so it's a given
5th set is whm/sch, it can be seen being worn by a female hyru with whm relic weapon out in the same video
and finally the 6th set the warrior of light's gear which will be worn by pld/war.

Let's pretend for a moment Yoshi and Co. decied never to lower the lockout time then that there is 30 weeks worth of farming to gear all your classes if there isn't a set for each job. So if you have all jobs at 50 and start farming dec 17th and get the piece you want once a week you'll have all the armor by april 8th next year. That's what I call streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeechting content out. :D

FFXI pre-Abyssea. That was how you did things right.


Not so much in the % of drops (lord knows some stuff was intolerably hard to get just because it wouldn't f'ing drop - FFXI was RNG hell) but having a plethora of side grades spread across a multitude of different events. For all of YP's claims of making XIV a "theme park with something for everyone", it's doing a rather piss poor job of it when an older (arguably much worse in many aspects) game did it so much better. I'm not a fan at all of the constant flood of new and better gear that effectively obsoletes older content, especially in a game where you can play every class on 1 character (which is probably why we're getting the bullshit lockouts in the first place - as a ridiculous stop-gap method of keeping people from getting all the drops for each job and never re-playing older content, getting bored and then quitting).

Never had that problem in XI. There were just so many different options (some admittedly better than others but still) that even if you DID have all the gear you wanted, there was at least enough variety at end game that you could simply have fun helping friends & LS mates (Assault was a blast).

This is not the case with XIV since everything is set in a vertical progression and so we get deliberately cock blocked to force us to go back and manually do all the content we cleared and are sick of to inch our way back up on a different job. Or in the case of Myth Tomes, simply pick 1 or 2 jobs you want to play (due to the insane amount of time it takes just to get 1 full set of myth gear) and stick with those.

This is terrible, short-sighted design for end-game and it stands to ruin what is an otherwise brilliant successor to FFXI.


EDIT: Even the XI team has realized they kinda screwed things up with the recent patches and are adding in hard-mode versions of older content to upgrade all our old AF and other gear to keep it competitive with the new stuff.

Ah.... but.... we are playing the game. And the moment they 'do' do that this early on, everyone will go from 'why the lock outs' to, 'the content is cleared too fast/easily.

Tell me, once they remove lock outs, you spam the dungeon all in one setting, and get bored of it, then whats your next plan? To come back to the forums and complain about that....

The number of people with full i90 gear for even one class is a tiny, tiny percentage of the population, i80 is a step up from anything <i90 except very expensive penta-melded gear.

Therefore it's an additional thing to do to gear up your character that is beneficial to >99% of the population (well 100% technically since no-one has full i90 gear across all classes). I'm not particularly in favour of or particularly against lockouts, but a loot lockout is better than a content lockout.

If you can run Coil 1-5 in 90 minutes, more power to you. The majority of the population does not clear 1-5 in a week. Did you expect them to specifically cater to a tiny proportion of the playerbase over that of the main body? Be patient, harder content will come for you too. Just not this patch.

Op sounds like you need to take a break. Go play some other games. Come back after 2.1 or 2.2. If you are bored then it's no longer a game for you. Can we get some perspective up in here????

People don't even have any facts about the loot lockout yet. All they have to base it on is Reinhearts translation and in his defense, they are often cut very short and miss some crucial information(on the live letters only)

We do know there is gonna be a loot lockout, we do know you could run CT over and over again. What we don't know is how the loot lockout is gonna work. Will it be a 1 item per week lockout like people assume? I HIGHLY doubt that...if anything...I can see a 1 item per boss per week lockout happening. Anything else would make no sense at all whatsoever.

Why don't we just wait for facts and then people decide to unsub/leave/quit or whatever instead of these useless topics over and over again...

PS: How would a 1 item per week lockout work anyway...they already said it's gonna be need/greed/pass just as in the other content with each group of CT having their own loot chests. So what would that mean...when you got an item the loot window will just not show up for you? You can't hit need/greed/pass? What if something drops that nobody wants but you already got an item...will it just be trashed? What if something drops that only you would use on your class, but you got an item already...do you just can't get it whatsoever? A 1 item/week lockout would make CT more horrible loot-wise than Coil...That's highly unlikely...common sense should tell you that.

I stay with my assumption that it's gonna be a 1 item per boss per week lockout if that.

That standpoint boils down to not wanting them to have gear, because the end result, going to the forums and complaining there is nothing to do, is the same.

Maybe wait until the thing comes out, try out some of the other new content that's going to be released at the same time, and then make an informed judgment about whether there's enough to do.
