Umm, Shinigami, I have full DL and relic +1 on my drg and I broke 1080 already on a crit.... That's with every buff for DRG running so I think you're doing something wrong man haha.
I'm not saying one class is better than the other. Just saying that Dragoon after receiving relic +1 and full DL will break 1k on crits very often with BfB / and buff / debuffs going on a mob.
Hell, with every buff up even my jump does over 1k.
ill go and double check this. i wonder if the difference between relic and +1 really is that great. either way, you are saying you barely broke 1k with relic +1 and full DL. this other guy is saying he broke 1k with titan lance and artifact gear. i mean seriously...
side note, im not hitting 1k, but im awfully close. im doing ~900. and what could i possibly be doing wrong? -_- its just a matter of landing jump with all buffs. its not rocket science lol
jump with power surge has 300 potency, which is the same as your full thrust.
For any job other than BRD upgrading your relic to +1 is the best use of myth. Unless you don't have your relic yet and will have 900 myth left after spending, buying anything else first is ludicrous.
The base weapon damage value is by far the most significant contributor to how much damage your hits do or how much HP your cures heal.

http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__...rly-factor.jpg Geez, thanks for letting me know.
This will give Bard a lot of burst, but no matter how you look at it, their average damage is already the lesser of the three classes, even if not my much.
I'd just say give us some components that we can't move endlessly for. Keep us mobile, but not without some loss, kind of like a WoW hunter or early FFXIV Archer. Could just make Bloodletter look as awesome as it used to and require .5 seconds still time for the auto-attack to release. We're being nerfed for our 'no downside' movement, burst, and support, but as FCs get more and more damage-cap oriented, that support requirement is going to get more and more begrudged. I think nerfing the ridiculous amount of movement is probably the best target. The melee buffs themselves should take care of the damage "nerf".
Even in the Bard description though, we were described as sniper-ralliers, with the ability to utterly massacre foes in burst, and to keep the party going. I think Bard does that pretty well. It could just use some limitations to movement, which could also, hopefully, make the class more fun, and a bit more tactics-mindful.
On topic: I'd have to repeat what others have been saying. I generally see higher parsed dps off Monks of equal gear to DRGs, but it's nothing major.
If the AoE is essential to a fight, Monks do at least have ~5 AoEs in a row at a relative ~180 to ~218 (BFB) potency via Perfect Balance and Rockbreaker, which makes up for the difference between Dragonfire Dive and Howling Fist, and AoE dps in the short term. Otherwise though, Monk AoE dps will suck (~180 potency AoE every 6 seconds as compared to the same every 2.5 via Doomspike). And if you ever lose your GL buffs, that Perfect Balance will already likely be consumed for a single-target burn phase.
Play what style you like best. But give it a shot in level 50 dungeons before you make that decision if you can.
That was my only QQ I had ever had with BRDs. Back before everyones damage evened out, I said they just had too much in their kit (I'm a league player so I look at classes that way). They had utility, they were the top DPS at the time, they were ranged, and they had mobility. In my mind this just screamed OP. So in my rendition of nerfs I believed they should receive, I said they need to put a movement lock on bloodletter. Our BRD in our raid group was not amused with that skill having a movement lock. Either way it would allow for strategic planning of when to use it in heavy aoe fights such as titan. But now as their DMG is tapering off and started to get surpassed, I don't really think a nerf is necessary at all anymore. While I do find that them having so many buffs is ridiculous, their DMG without them is pretty lacking
If the buff to GL duration makes no difference, than nothing has changed. People who say monks are better say so cuz they believe monks have a higher sustained dps (drgs have more burst) so what will change in 2.1? I use jumps almost every time its off cooldown except when I know something dangerous is coming and my monk still beats my drg. We don't know enough about the changes in 2.1 to really say, but if all they changing is GL duration and shorter jump animations, then nothing has changed.
Also, the increase in GL duration can matter. While possible, it is currently very difficult to keep GL up after a Titan jump, you will often be off by 0.5-1 sec; with this buff, it is now possible everytime. Personally, I'm kinda iffy on this change but what can you do?
If you want more utility and damage, monk.

Some people may have more stats in SS and CRT, reducing their per-hit maximum damage.
No, it doesn't.Quote:

There's a fringe possibility you could almost get 1250 with a mega STR potion added to the mix, but I doubt it.
Thank you for the helpful post. I literally haven't been able to log in for almost two weeks to test this out. And I probably won't be able to log in for another few weeks. But, nonetheless, thank you for the helpful comment.
IF i test this out, and it turns out that I'm not doing 1k, ill have to assume its because i don't have relic+1 plus the stats that you mentioned. If this is the case, I will be very surprised that my relic + AF2 chest + AF2 helm are so much weaker than a relic +1. I can understand that +1 relic is a better choice than AF2 chest and helm, but i underestimated the extend of the gap.
Even worse is that fact that I know i should probably get relic +1 next, but im probably going to keep getting AF2 just because it looks so awesome.
Do you even lift polearms bros?
Just level the one you like the most. It's a game, why play if you're going to stress about productivity.
I guess my original question was concerning which one is more viable and will continue to be so. I havent played an mmo since lvl75 cap FFXI so im just concerned about being useless as my job in that game was loldrg and the rng which got nerfed too.
With the current mechanics and content in the game, MNKs are probably slightly more effective than DRGs for a few specific fringe reasons:
1. They do higher single target DPS. DRG AOE DPS is useful, but BLMs are also pretty common, and can sufficiently fill whatever AOE needs are there.
2. They have a few bits of pretty unique utility that DRGs don't have, like the %Int debuff in their rotation as well as the traited Mantra increased healing.
The main DRG utility benefits are the piercing debuff for Bards (who are a slightly behind in DPS in the first place), and the ability to tank some stuff a bit better, which doesn't matter much. DRG's also have slightly higher controllable burst damage, which has its uses.
Overall it's kind of a wash, but MNKs are more effective by a slight measure.
You can easily hit 1200 - 1300 ish, you just need 2 drags in the partyQuote:

I think BLM is the best dps tanks.
Drgs also always have Keen Flurry and Feint on *when feint works*. . . and Life Surge.
In some fights a DRG can be left to tank an add more reliably than a MNK. In those situations, a MNK "can" tank it fine, but they will require more healer attention, which is a detriment.
This scenario usually boils down to the fact that Keener Flurry is the shit.
Which class is bettet for a ps3 user? That drg 27 combo looks like it just isnt possible on a ps3 hotbar with ui lag and having to switch between menus. Is mnk any different?
