I agree the built in delay creates some of the worst play issues on evasion and casting. just getting a bit tired of people trying to lay blame on the servers being in Canada when the decision to put them there is actually beneficial to cross Atlantic play. the US gets little or no additional benefit and nothing detrimental from it either.

Over 100ms ping on a 120 mb fiber connection ...I don't understand why the EU servers are so far away :/

What is with all these petitions? A petition is meant to be something that you feel so strongly about that you are going to seriously commit to seeing it through all the way. Something that you will campaign for and fight for, not just a rant on forums. I don't see any true validation in this, along with other petitions such as "I hate my DL hood! petition!"

Yah am willing to cancel my sub and delete game never recommend it to others in my region and ppl will say sure quit it won't effect the game but it will one or two might quit now in the long run it will be thousands of potenioal customers

There is no need for servers located in the EU.
At least it is not the solution to the delay problem that so many players have.
Maybe ISP, maybe client, maybe servers.
But not the location of the servers.

Well fair enough if you personally feel that strongly about it, but the general consensus is that you are wrong. I'm not saying there are not issues, but the issues do not lie in the location of the servers. As I said before, if you can get a very large amount of people to quit alongside you, then maybe SE would think about addressing it. Until then though, you're just another person ranting on the forums.

94ms ping on a 70Mb fiber connection, get a better ISP.

Seriously the problem is NOT SE the problem is ISPs using sub-optimal routes to get to the servers, if I perform a continuous ping I get a constant <100ms ping and 0% packet loss to the game servers on the NA datacenter so how I can get that and others getting 100ms+ to the same datacenter and it all be SE's fault is beyond me.

Seriously find a new ISP and you shall see more improved results than QQin here.

I get relatively low ping from EU to NA with speed which is considered extremely low nowadays, which leads me to conclusion that it's your ISP's fault, not SE's.

Not sure what people seek to gain by white knighting SE on this topic, don't you think us affected has sought out and suspected ISP first of all?
ISP isn't the one with the issue here, sadly otherwise I'd simply switch to a different service.
The package drops is from the server side of things, the way the connection is routed to the data centers, this has been proven and explained in much detail multiple times in different threads already.

Not all EU players will get this issue, same as even america based players can experience the same, just cause you don't have it right now, doesn't mean it wont affect you in the future.
I didn't start experience this until 3 weeks into launch, right after my friend(who lives in a different part of europe) had the very same problem end right after a server maintance, now she doesn't get the issue anymore while I do.

Using a VPN is a costly solution, and while it byoasses the terrible freeze lagg, when used to play instead you will experience much higher ms, so besides the price its not a working fix.

it is SE's fault. they made the game. they can't fix the client for some reason. they decided to have a .3 delay. they decided to .. I don't know.. use cheap servers or a cheap server structure?

it is NOT SE's 'fault' for picking a server location that IS reasonable, though. SE is not Blizzard. keep that in mind.

and I'm honestly sick and tired of people claiming that ARR is the only game where all servers are in NA.

it's the same for TSW and LOTRO and I never have issues in those games.

and goddammit a ping of 120 hardly makes a game unplayable, either. when will you folks realise what ping actually is? just because you have a higher number than your friend who lives right next to the server doesn't mean you have BAD ping. bad ping would be ~300, and even with such a ping I managed to play MMOs relatively ok in the past. hell. I've done pvp with a ping of 200+ (and yes, I'm good at it :P)

I HAVE the issues. I said I don't have the issues in OTHER games. I simply understand that a different server location will NOT fix the problems for the majority - but only for a small minority. most people do NOT have lag because of the ping - they have lag because of bad servers, the internal delay, a non-polished client and all that other junk that SE will hopefully hopefully hopefully be able to fix in the next couple of months. heck, I'd probably already have way less issues if for example I was able to turn off shadows completely, but that is hardly helping me in titan, for example, where these issues become the most apparent (and yes, I do watch the castbar like a hawk)

I, Lunavi Melovi am pro this. BUT ONLY if you put the EU servers in Germany or somewhere more to the middle of Europa so that as many EU players as possible gets better Ping from it and NOT in UK.

Personally I experience few Ping issues as of now on the EU servers. But as people are doubtlessly experience these I would want them solved once and for all.

And no SE is not the only MMO company with NA only servers, the problem here is the data centers are from a bad server host, the routing and package loss is the issue.

Tell me how you would work around 2-3sec freeze lagg, random 90k error or rubberbanding effects, there is no solution to that.
I'd much prefer that SE would actualy make an effort to improve the server structure rather then having a EU dedicated server(most of my in game friends are outside of EU), but if thats not going to happen then I'd rather be able to play at all.

And I'd have around 200ms in game with a paid VPN, just to be able to play the game, thats an extra 12 euro a month, and that isn't a percfect playing experience either.

Also just because you don't have the issue doesn't make thoose who have it spoiled people who just want to complain at SE.

UK based player in the Midlands, I ping the data centre at around 95-140. Latency has never been an issue for me. The game has at time been an issue at times but my latency never has.

The EU tag was to help herd players in to a group of people that share a time zone to give them an active community during their logged on time, not to specify a hardware location.

If you did any research regarding the server location it was because of Montreal being an optimal location for the largest number of players. I have friends in Germany who ping the same as me and friends in Florida, New York, Miami. Everyone is around the 100-150 mark. Frankly this is an astounding piece of research they have done.

They stated they had people travelling the world essentially trying to find somewhere that routes data to a high number of locations well and Montreal was basically perfect.

The Problem is incredibly likely to be user based and not service based.

Yes please this would be beneficial to a mass of our player's!!

You obviously have no idea how internet networking works, please stop replying.

I can just point out a few things:
1. How many mb you got on your connection has nothing to do with speed, only amount per second.
2. A fiber connection only improves your pingtimes from your home to your ISP, as from there its fiber anyway.
3. Every country has 1 or more main switches that routes all the data from that country, this is something the ISPs have no control over.
4. If you have <100ms latency to Canada, you might be lucky to live in a country that routes the data overseas. If you live north, east or south of those switches, you will have additional latency, again has nothing to do with ISP.

When they are implementing PvP in december, 120+ pingtimes per person is going to be very detrimental to the experience, and I dont even want to think about how positional skills will perform when you add the lag from the position system.

This is only partially true. Your ISP CAN have an affect on how much extra latency you get depending on who they choose to peer with. If they decide to be cheap and choose poor peers, you could bounce all over the place before hitting those switches. Like my ISP here in Colorado, they route the connection to a peer in California, before going all the way over to Montreal. They won't change it either.

Most of these ppl defending Se will come back crying once pvp is live 100% sure

If they can sort the latency issues on the servers, I dont care if it is based in US, JP or EU.
I felt I had much less latency issues when I played on JP servers during Beta, than I do now currently and my server is based in Canada :/

I was talking about Europe in general though, where my point 3. counts as countries over here are individually quite small, the effect you are talking about is negligible. I can see the problem being something else in the US though, as you just said.

I dont think it will happen in near future. There is no movement after Square Enix bought Eidos and established Square Enix Europe. By taking consideration that Sqaure Enix Japan is in serious financial loss, whether their board of directors is willing to invest in Sqaure Enix Europe is a big quesiton.

I don't need any EU servers, but I'd like to be able to play with the same level of latency/lag as other players.
If my char is out of the red zone long before the attack lands, then it shouldn't take damage.

Ya the Euros would rather jump ship and destroy the current NA servers. That seems fair.

COMEON man... the issue here is, there's not enough servers for EU. Regarding FFXI, it was a damper to the community and because all the servers were based in Japan, that's why everyone was together. I'm not entirely sure if ALL the servers were based in Japan but information wether your PIN would be better in some servers over others wasn't clear. Information(at least for me) was held from me and was forced into a server after making my first character.

Ping does not effect MMO's in the same way as other games, I have played on Japanese servers with 300-400 ping and still been able to play. (not the best experience mind) Anything below 250 is good enough to cope with anything the game will throw at you.
This is not like a First Person Shooter where low ping matters.

I played FFXI for years with a ping of around 180ms never stopped me from doing anything. Never got me killed. If you are getting packetloss or other issues then that has nothing to do with server placement.

Right now I have no issues, but I can see this happening when they patch the PvP and Frontlines. I want to have a equal chance in beating my enemy. The moment I notice that I can not beat my enemy in PvP, because I live in Europe is when I will end my subscription. If a EU server will improve this for us EU players, then I do not see why others are soo against this?
