BARD DPS Slow, Not Low

A lower GCD would hurt melee dps. Mainly DRG is designed to have tons of attacks that he can fire between two GCDs (leg sweep, jump, spineshatter dive, dragon fire dive aso) and to a lesser degree MNK who needs time in between his attacks to go for Rears and Flanks.

Been a Bard since the beginning of 1.0 and I personally think it is fine just the way it is. Now the song idea is not bad, I would have to agree on that one.

Well that means if they lower it all together it's a nerf to dragoons and monks AND mages.

What about Monks and Dragoons positional attacks? Lower GCD's will make there job even harder since they have less time to get into place for the positional bonuses. The positional bonuses aren't easy to land constantly, 2.5 is already pretty fast for the positions they have to get in. (even less for monk since that's there whole gimmick).

What about mages? The GCD being lower means they will be stuck in casting state while Bards are just firing even faster than before. Lowering the GCD doesn't change their cast time.

There's a reason why the GCD is how it is, positional bonuses and spell casting would fall much farther behind if it was lower.

Maybe for you it's "plenty of time to choose" abilities, but for those playing classes that have to constantly move from flank to back it's a whole different game.

Lowering GCD only buffs bards, but not anyone else.

Because intelligent responses usually only follow intelligent queries.

Though just to humor you, the reason why we probably won't see something like this has been answered well by many people in the thread already. DRG & MNKs rely on off GCD attacks, and although they are off GCD, they are not instant, they have animations that can push back the next attack. All of DRG's jumps will push back your next attack by around half a second so it already turns it into a 3 sec GCD. Making the GCD shorter will just exacerbate this issue for melee while BRDs dps will largely only increase across the board. For SUM/BLM, they still have to cast. They'll still be casting their attacks at the same speed, not benefiting from a lower GCD as much as BRD again will. We're all laughing at you because you say you're not asking for a BRD buff but lowering GCD would only buff BRDs for the most part.

I think it's pretty obvious that with a lower GCD, they'd also have to reduce cast times. Right now though, the combat should be faster and more responsive.

Animation locks are beyond ridiculous, and combat generally feels like its from a stone age MMO. I have to spam instant abilities to get them to actually work. It's so extremely backwards and poorly done that I'm having a hard time seeing how they can avoid losing players in the long run because of such a horrible system.

Monks and Dragoons need that time to get into proper position in order to maximize their damage. Do you plan on increasing run speed as well? All this random overhauling for something that isn't even that big of a deal at higher levels.

You are possibly the best DPS class, there isn't anything left to complain about.

Also people like the combat, just because you don't doesn't mean it needs to be overhauled. I like my traditional RPGs, I don't enjoy action games. Everyone has different preferences.

Use them in the middle of your GCD, that's when they are able to work. At the 50% point of the GCD is when they can be activated. You can't face roll them in this game.

Well, combat is crap compared to most other MMOs. Traditional or not. If you're stuck in the past you'll go nowhere.

It's unresponsive and plagued by animation locks. GCD and cast times aren't even the biggest issues. Can't even imagine PvP with a combat system like this, just not going to happen.

Here's my thoughts on what you just said. Usually when I don't like a game, I stop playing that game. I recommend you do the same since there are plenty of games out there that you may enjoy.

Clearly this game isn't for you and there's nothing wrong with that, you just need to move on and continue searching. Not every game is for everyone.

Yeah, we should all totally take the word of a level 37 Bard guys, game is doomed, GG.
