Historically, it hasn't been a playable job. Enemies have had this job. That is a statement of fact, not opinion. Also the entire game has been rewritten so who's to say what the THM story line looks like now?

I don't comment on speculations, but how naive can you be? At least I've provided irrefutable evidence by quoting information made by Square Enix. How can that be flawed? Your attempt of turning it around will not help your opinion.


Now you said not all primals are evil? Have you even seen them all? As the Summoner description implies, they are considered a grave threat, and summoning takes a lot of aether, aka life energy from the planet. One more thing, did you forget what Bahamut did? Also my first encounter with Ifrit, and Garuda didn't go so peachy either. Each Beast tribe worship and have their own primal deity.

With your analogy of not all primals are evil, then why can't all Necromancer not be evil? And, historically the job is playable in FFV Advance, you said this yourself earlier.

Now this is not a Summoner thread. I've only brought it up to prove my point that the game is not all rainbows and unicorns as you envisioned it. Back on topic, Necromancer.

If you think speculations such as for example, "some primals are not evil", or that necromancer is an "enemy job", then you're mistaken because those are not valid points, because I can say not all Necromaner are evil, and I can summon undead to do good things.

I'm just putting things into perspective.

Also I should have made myself more clear. Right from the Final Fantasy Wiki (Source) disambiguation page:


Necromancer may refer to:

• A Job from Final Fantasy V Advance.
• An enemy from Final Fantasy V.
• An enemy from Final Fantasy VI.
• A summoner type enemy from Final Fantasy XI.
• The Job from Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade.

Generally it is an enemy job. How can you refute that fact?

I support the Necromancer as being playable.
I've got a lot of experience in the real world, playing with dead stuff... you know, biology class and all.

Long life to the Necromancer! ...well, long life... err... you know.

The Sil'dih were able to create a Zombie army, so if Necromancer was to become a Class/Job this is where we would potentially learn the art. (Sil'dih empire may or may not be completely destroyed). I'd say Lore wise to justify learning Necromancy it would definitely be a Dark Art, Thaumaturges commit assassinations and steal valuables from dead bodies and even they think Necromancy is a bad thing.

As for game mechanics wise, it'd be fun I guess. The tough part would be balancing it with Summoner and Beastmaster(which is probably coming sooner rather than later). Summoner looks as if it will be able to DD along with Support and Debuffs, so it'd be tough for Necromancer to do similar things while being different.

For what it's worth, puppetmaster in FFXI was supposed to be a necromancer. They only changed it because they didn't want their female protagonist of ToAU assumed as a bad guy because of the negative connotations something like that'd bring.

I figure it'd be more than appropriate for Ul'dah's lore- I just don't know how FF-unique the class would be because my only experiences of it are elder scrolls games.

Its the fact that any job in the Final Fantasy franchise can be an "enemy job" is what makes your point invalid.
