More PvP Rewards

As long as the overall rewards are expanded I'm happy. The "prestige" versions of old sets are already a step to right direction, but there's much more potential.

As for Top 100, if they want to go for Season exclusives it doesn't need to be full armor sets like Feast, as long as it's something simple to show off - be it fashion accessory or one slot item, it would be enough.

If we can't get seasonal top 100 reward, then at least have something to recognize multiple high finishes. Be it portrait or title or whatever, but having at least something small and new to aim for instead of just repeat of previous Season(s) would be a nice niche carrot to chase.

I’m up for more rewards such as skins, I would rather see more fun gameplay. You can throw as much rewards as you want I still won’t do it PVP stuff because it’s mindless and has no strategy.

If they add rewards I would like to see more cyborg armor with lights in the armor (not glowing aura) for the casual player and not the top x people.
Like the Late Allagan Armor with the ability to change the color of the lights.

It actually has strategy, but some of the reasons behind outcomes often feel obscure and bleak to the newcomer. You need to consistently play and get some experience to figure out some strategies with every job. When it comes to team strategies, you'll also see an immediate big difference between diamond and lower ranks with how much people are able to "follow" on CC or attacks and secure kills. It's like day and night, and this is just one example out of many.

Obviously some of the most obvious strategies (like sticking together and waiting for team mates to respawn) seem to still fly way over the heads of many though...

I am also completely against FOMO Top 100 rewards.

I am okay with them maybe locking it to Top 100 for one season and then make it available later for the other players through other means (crystal trophies for example) in the next season.

But I don't think FOMO rewards for only Top 100 players is the way to go.

Especially if you look at current Pvp leaderboards, it is often mostly the same people in the Top 100 for multiple seasons on each server. Those Top 100 people will not quit playing Pvp. They don't need extra incentives. But all the people below Top 100 are the people that will quit Pvp if they don't get any rewards.

Right now people who don't aim for Top 100 have almost no incentive to play Ranked. But I can tell you that the current Top 100 people on each server will still play 5 seasons into the future.

Also regarding Ultimates: Currently on FFXIVCollect 3,9% of players have the title for finishing DSR Ultimate, wheras 0,1 % of players have the title for Top 100 in PVP Ranked. This is a huge difference! This makes the PVP titles 39 times harder to obtain than finishing DSR. So TOP 100 rewards cannot be compared to Ultimates, because Ultimate rewards are 39 times easier to obtain than PVP rewards (if they were locked to Top 100).

I respect your thoughts on how you feel about Top 100 rewards remaining seasonally unique (aka what you call FOMO) and won't try to change your opinion on this, but I don't think it would be good to re-distribute seasonal rewards this soon after they came out. It would set a precedent of "well it is gonna be available in 2 months for much less effort, why should I play and compete in ranked right now?" (unless the method would once again be Ranked and Ranked only).

That said, I think your "for the past x seasons its the same people on top 100, therefore it is not worth to design rewards for Top 100" is a strawman argument.

The reason why it is the "same people" is because it is the core players trying their best to keep the mode alive, from dedication to the thing they love. It wouldn't remain the same people on the board if there was something to play for to knock the top off the board and compete for desirable rewards.

Ranked isn't just for us veterans - it needs fresh blood and as you said, the lack of incentive is why hardly anyone picks up the craft over doing the other PvP modes.

And obviously, it doesn't take "just" top 100 rewards. Ranked should be desirable for high-end pvpers in top 100 down to bronze alike, so even if you score low in a season you can accumulate currency / tokens over time to get something desirable. The "what" is debatable though.

But for sure - the game does not run on glory and sweat, it needs reason.

Adressing this in a separate post:

PVE anything (so Ultimate as well) is incomparable to PVP ranked leaderboards. At most, you could consider the World 1st-100th inofficial rankings something to compare, as this would once again be a form of PVP (beating other teams in time).

It isn't that they are XY times harder to obtain, it is simply limited surplus gated by skill and teamplay. Anyone can be top 100 with enough dedication and practice, arguably faster than they can clear one or multiple ultimates from scratch.

As Valence commented prior, CC DOES have strategy, but so does FL and RW. The thing is that 80% of the players are there to just mindlessly kill things and collect tomes so they don't use any strategy to actually win games, so strategy is less impactful unless you have a team willing to listen. With a good strategy, like sandwiching the right team at the right time at certain choke points, you can absolutely turn the tide of matches in FL (from last place with a huge deficit into a victory). You don't need 3 alliances to guard a tomelith (SR) or wait for Ovoos (Onsal) to spawn in your "safety" zone if the two other factions are fighting it out somewhere. Your team can be sandwiching or killing strays to get more pts and also to lessen enemy pts. PvP = be idle as LITTLE as possible, always be moving or doing something that can be beneficial (don't yolo feed obviously) to your team except in special circumstances. THE BEST DEFENSE IS A GREAT OFFENSE (if the enemy is pressured too much, they can't muster an attack against you). If someone tries to backcap in SR, have the people that just died to take it back when they revive, you don't need the whole alliance to pullback or afk at the tome to play "defense" (except in special circumstances). But there is always RNGesus which can mess with all that in varying degrees, just gotta adjust to each situation.
