My first experience at tanking

And I don't think you even bothered to read this thread, which in my OP wasn't about dying, but rather about impatient DPS pulling stuff that didn't need to be pulled.

Nobody died. The healer and I dealt with it, but as a dps player these days, I thought them very stupid, and not fun to play with.

And so my point is: don't be that dps player that makes tanks and healers not want to queue because you make it not fun for them to play with you.

MPK is a local troll, I wouldn't take much of what they say seriously. Wall to wall pulling is a thing you'd probably end up doing once you're more familiar with tanking and if you are geared, if your healer can handle it and if it's sensible for that dungeon. Else wall to wall pulling all the time can end in wipes if you're not geared enough, if you're not experienced enough and if your healer can't keep up. Speaking as somebody who has healed and tanked many wall to wall pulls, I've had healers totally rock it and healers who struggle to keep up. I've had tanks that don't require me to work hard to keep them alive and tanks where their health is hanging by a thread.

Some tanks do as MPK said even after the first wipe where it's obvious it's not gonna work...and wipe again...and still not learn

More like a "Bruh" generator than a troll.
Especially when in ARR there is mobs you want to avoid since they're a waste of time.

This topic reminds me of SB where tank stance, dropping tank stance for extra damages and Quelling Strikes were still a thing. I've had one experience with 3 premade (SAM/BLM/WHM) that adamantly ignored my request about using Quelling Strikes, pulling every pack/bosses themselves no matter what, even if there was a tankbuster coming, the SAM would take it and the WHM would do anything to keep them alive. Which ended up in a massive waste of time.

Don't be the one that wants to go faster but ends up causing a crash.

"Bruh Generator" I like that one, I think it's an apt description of the persona they're using.

Oddly, I miss tank stance dancing...but I was er...a different kind of offender when it comes to tank stories, my friend was the healer and she still yells at me for it..maybe I should stop bringing it up. So, to bring it up:

This was from when strength tanking was a thing for tanks to boost their DPS. I went overboard on my DRK, I was not high-geared at the time, I think I just met the iLevel for the dungeon we were running, which was bad enough, I was a new DRK. Add that DRK was generally more squishy until you learned to play it properly. My health was comparable to the DPS's of the party and she struggled to keep my health up because my health dropped too much without much health to begin with. The DPS blamed her as the healer and I was like, "no you guys, this is totally on me, I'm the one who's in the wrong here" but they wouldn't listen. I was too squishy and got over confident with how much strength gear I could get away with whilst sacrificing everything else.

Moral of the story: If experimenting, don't dive in heard first and make your healer cry. As a healer main...I should have known better.

Mobs fates and Leves to 20 -> Squadron or PotD to 61 -> HoH to 71 -> Trusts or Bozja to 80.

That's the route I went on my tank and it went fine.

Not really. I have my lv80 tank and while I don't play it much this expansion I used to main one in StB and I'd be comfy enough picking it up for endgame trials and raids. But I'd never, ever pug a dungeon with it. Ever.
The idea that tanks "need a thick skin" and must endure dps in dungeons behaving like children is false, no one pays to play a game to suffer. You can simply opt out of DF and still enjoy all other aspects of tank in better content in organized groups.

Maybe they wanted to unlock the entire map? Or felt bad for the mocs. :p

Never understood people saying tanks need a thick skin. I had major anxiety issues growing up, yet have always played tank classes in mmos.

I mained PLD until storm blood, and again at the start of shadowbringers.

Its not hard to tank. And people don't say a word 90% of the time in instances.

Luckily, I run with a healer who sits behind me when we play when I tank things like Expert Roulette. If I get a DPS in there who likes to tank - I let them. I'll stand and wait to see their glorious ways of showing me how to tank while they run around trying to kite mobs.

Oh, and the healer stands and watches too. Once they are done flexing said e-peen, we move on. If the DPS is so good at floor tanking, they can raise themselves too.

I don't stand for that garbage. I don't do single mobs at a time, but there are a couple of places I don't wall pull - notably when you get in low level dungeons. DPS seem to believe in them that you can play like you are 80. So, I let them have at it.

You are right - it's not hard, and we don't need added issues with impatient idiots. It's not a job - I log in to play and enjoy a break. Thick skin mentality is old and stupid. Everyone is different than the next, and a lot of people seem to forget that.

You can preach, but honestly DPS don't have to wait long. I main tank and as someone who does they've dumbed down the role enough to where it's not as stressful as say a tank in WoW. When I don't feel like tanking, DPS ques are RARELY longer than 5 minutes unless you're specific que'ing a dungeon for some reason. Tanks typically don't tend to take long to fill in PF groups for extremes for most fights just because more people play them here.

If it was enough of an issue probably should've just booted the guy if it bother you too much, depending how slow you were going I might have done the same. Had a tank in Dzmael Darkhold single pulling in the first area when they take almost zero damage from the blue zones, I got tired of it and pulled up to boss room myself as healer.

If you're anxious, learning, whatever, just communicate at the start you're new and would like to take it slow, most players have ran these dungeons dozens of times if not more and would rather not take double the time from an overly cautious tank and no given reason

You are right - it's not hard, and we don't need added issues with impatient idiots. It's not a job - I log in to play and enjoy a break. Thick skin mentality is old and stupid. Everyone is different than the next, and a lot of people seem to forget that.

I laugh but how is this also not considered toxic also?

I mostly tank but I do not understand this mindset. In the grand scheme tank playstyle does not change be it three mobs or twenty. Group success is largely based around the healer and overall group dps.
