An ability akin to MCH's "Cooldown" attack would be a nice change; it would help a lot for delaying burst phases to line up with party buffs.
RDM cooldown, spends 25-30 points of black and white mana to restore own MP by a fixed percentage, maybe 10%, but nothing too high. Or Cooldown spends mana to prevent the next one or two offensive spells to have no MP cost (it does not include Verholy/Flare or Cure/Raise).
Why is it that no one is even considering my proposition? Everyone is either saying their own ideas, or just saying "it's fine".
Cause, I'm sorry, they're just bad. RDMs identity is the "infinite" raises. It is a job really good for progression and still viable for any other content. If you lock verraise behind 50 white mana, you will never see a RDM raise again. Followed Up by then not being the optimal choice for progression anymore.
Maybe there are things that could be changed on RDM, or that could use some small re-balancing, but your suggestion is taking it for the worse way.
It is RDMs identity. He neither has high damage, nor high utility in terms of party buffs. Red Mage is the Raise Mage. Summoner also has them obviously, but with Swift being locked to 1 minute cooldown it makes it much harder to raise as fast as you do with RDM.
i think 50 white mana for raising it too much, it would be harder to balance the balance gague.
give RDM skill like medica II is enough for me
I don't see anyone saying that blackmage is the "infinite mana shift class" either, even though that is kind of the only thing they have going for them aside their numbers.
I've also heard people throw the argument around that counting on many rezzes during progression is actually counterproductive, because you don't get to train your rotation for the case you actually WANT - people surviving (hence why I stated "perceived" support in the OP).
Why would you never see another verraise if it was behind 50 white mana, exactly? You can get that without even causing a mana imbalance, if you wanted. And my other proposed changes would even let you churn out a verraise every 10 seconds max on top of manafiction at the cost of much of your dps. But if you have that much to raise, I doubt having the usual dps would change the outcome of the encounter anyway.
