Meters

My stance remains unchanged: everyone who wants to use a parser to abuse people already is using a parser to abuse people. The hypothetical where parsers are added to the game doesn't exclude the fact that abusers can be reported for abusing the feature--just as one can be reported for abusing vote abandon and vote kick.

It becomes another 'requirement' that sets the normal, just like 'no new player bonus.' Numbers will soon follow that. "No dps below X." Its easy enough to say 'don't party with people like that' but its also easy enough to join free companies/linkshells and organize things for oneself. Yet many people do not.

Personally, I don't care one way or the other about meters. Sure they are fun to look at while playing WoW or something when you're curious about your ranking with other players but its not going to empower my experience either.

Lets erase bonuses entirely because they're a requirement that excludes part of the playerbase.

I don't need a phrase to see if someone is slacking. I can easily look at their buffs and aggro meter to detemine.

You know that certain classes have an aggro drop right? Being high on that table doesn't mean you're doing good dps.

Did you know 90% of players arnt strong enough to even want to use those? Tanks have such high aggro now that most forget aggro reducers exsist.

Don't use that excuse. If you use all classes and know the flow of fights you will know if aggro reducers are in place.

If he responded to that thread, he'd get 1-5 people respond that say "Why necro this?" and would get no actual discussion. It's still an issue, and a better thread to be on the front page than "why can I use stone skin on my ACN but not my WHM when synced to Sastasha?" I mean who cares? It's Sastasha...

Differences
Consistency: Numbers never agree 100% when comparing multiple people's parses
Accuracy: DoTs are estimated on third party programs, for example
Fairness: PS3/PS4 users have access
Simplicity: Don't have to install a 3rd party program

Currently, DPS is a requirement set by the game. Commonly this is known as a DPS check. You're only going to see "No DPS below X" increase in content with DPS checks that people are missing, and having a DPS meter doesn't magically make the DPS check there, it just shows you precisely what you need to pass it.

I guess that is what makes you sound like both a toxic player, and one who doesn't understand the current game in its entirety. Almost every class has a aggro reducing abilities, and buffs are often hidden behind healer buffs. That said, I see you think that most people don't use aggro reducers. People who play better tend to use them more, so that is the point. You may see 2 BLM's, where they have roughly the same agro, but 1 is clearly superior and just knows how to use Quelling Strikes. There is also the fact that SMN pet does a significant portion of damage, so while SMN may have the highest DPS, they're often ~4 or 5th on the agro meter. I imagine the same goes for turrets with MCH.

And they'd be right. What's the point? This has already been discussed ad nauseam. Yoshi has already said that they don't want to add parsers. Either way, this is still popcorn worthy so by all means carry on.

it is important to not let it go forgotten, as that helps the dev's realize it's something we still care about. I am not sure why you are concerned with the poor quality of posts we currently have on GD. Gems such as:
