This game has serious free-rider problems and it's getting worse. A suggestion.

I mean on the other hand SE could just remove all rewards from all roulettes so no extra reward for having to play old content and with people who might not know how to play.

But this whole thing is more an NA problem, culture of entitlement vs why should i put effort into playing vs why should i care about others. One reason why i love to play on EU, most players here just don't cry and do their best. And it seems to work, we have almost no leeches at all. In my 100+ delubrum runs i had no person that logged out or afk leeched. In Eureka people always waited like 5min before pulls. When i moved for a short period of time to NA it was a real culture shock how unfriendly and selfish NA is and i guess that's alright, different culture.

I am not super against, for example, the idea of a 'dungeon par' system (not based on FATE contribution) where basic competent execution of your job by hitting a fairly modest DPS threshold nets you a gold rank and an extra little reward, especially if that is hidden from your party. The fear of damage meters in casual content is very real (I have seen a lot of sad, terrible behavior from vets towards parties full of sprouts getting their first clear in very important story dungeons and trials doing bonkers stuff like pulling mid fight rundown and or refusing to rez people who die), but there are ways to introduce feedback systems for individuals that are far less abusable that would really help people even start chasing mastery.

A big problem with Bozja is less the concept of people leeching needing to be punished and more how there isn't really 'midcore' content in XIV because the basic game doesn't try to help you learn your job at all. Like... the game needs stuff like job tutorials at an even minimally optimal level before we can start talking about holding people to standards, because without external documentation from the community a lot of jobs are just too obtuse to ever really understand on a basic level, forget optimization and rotations and the like. Even extremely simple jobs like Black Mages have non-intuitive traps baked into the kit you won't notice unless you understand the abilities intuitively without ever using them, or someone explains to you what they do or why you should care about certain things. Even something as simple as working with people like The Balance to write a 1 paragraph rundown of each ability you have unlocked in your tutorial tab covering the basic usage of it (without going into crazy optimization) would be neat, we don't need to explain to people the difference between a 'hot flare' and a 'cold flare' but maybe pointing out the ramifications of using fire 1 to reset AF to get more fire 4 casts or the usage of Transpose existing to extend stance rather than as your main method of switching them would be neat. Forget about stuff like SMN or NIN which have a looooot going on in their rotation and its not going to be easy at all to find the actual rotation outside of the core stuff through play. I don't mind seeing people do stuff like drop dots or make a mistake, but its really clear how many people don't know where to START their job, and it isn't their fault they don't.

We are in this awkward space where the casual content is (rightfully) designed so anyone can clear it, and hardcore content basically requires external assistance to even approach, but that creates a big gap in the playerbase and when content comes along that puts the average casual in content that is a bit more demanding they fold and need to be carried, which creates a lot of resentment. But that 'mixer' content is good for the game, like people actually take the time to learn their jobs because Bozja exists. Its just without any in game tools for doing that your just kinda... not going to do that if you don't already know about stuff like The Balance.

I think there should be a gear check prior to being able to sign up for things, the game should ensure that the gear level is at the very least appropriate. I would be thrilled to death if they even had something to check repair level. I love healing a tank someplace and having them go after the first wall to wall and saying "surprised you kept me up, all my gear is broken..."

there should definitely be more stringent checks on gearing, simply if for no other reason to call attention to it. "look, you are entering a level 70 instance and have 3 bit of level 50 gear.... ". it shouldnt be rocket science to upgrade, but, I admit, even I have forgotten bits on occasion (typically on my melee dps)

It's a hyperbole, a rhetorical device. In fact i called literally noone here sad since i didn't adress any person here, my text was a mere monologue. But yeah, i guess we can add "can't understand rhetoric devices" to the list, huh?

ah, the good ol' hyperbole, the favourite thing for people to hide behind after they're insulting towards others in a discussion and get called out on it
for the record, I think it's a stupid thing to use in an argument because it adds precisely zero to it and is mostly, in my experience, used by someone who sees their own argument as the only correct one and who's using it to be dismissive and downright insulting towards others because "they didn't really mean it"

Dunno, i thought i made it clear that this was an exaggerated joke but i guess you always have to expect that there are socially blind people roaming around, which is most fun in forums. Dunno in which world a joke, peppered with funny language and some pen and paper / rpg references, would be taken with offense but it seems you are living inside that world.

Makes me feel kinda bad for you, always seeing the worst in other people isn't really healthy.

More honest concern than anything else to be honest. Dunno if you just have a bad day or maybe you are really socially blind which is also no shame in my opinion. It just means that you can't read others intentions very well which is not that rare actually.

But for a second let us assume i am really toxic and meant to insult "someone" with my post, do you think fighting fire with fire is a good solution and the best way to bring your point across?

Some issues cannot be removed. For example assholes. There will always be assholes or at least people to perceive to be assholes, you cannot remove all of them and everyone you do remove a new one will take its place. Thus the best way to solve the issue is instead circumvention.
