In other words "No your not getting a spanish version. lolz"
As a spanish person, I've always been dissapointed by the lack of interest in translating the game to our language.
Back when they announced that FFXI was going to be translated into French and German, I had this massive rant considering that there are far less people who speak those two languages combined than those who speak spanish.
It really is a shame and like Kyra says, that Bayohne's post is stating that indeed, we're never getting the game translated.
In any case, it is their loss. Just in Spain alone, the Final Fantasy fan base is large enough to overlap the french and german together, let alone Spain + South American countries together. Such a pity their marketing team doesn't seem to see this...
Somehow I doubt this. Do you have any proof to back up that claim? And as for south america, I believe the price for quality PC parts is outrageous and, thus, would drastically decrease the potential playerbase. Brazil would have the highest potential playerbase on the continent, but as previously stated, PCs are of generally lower quality due to prices....and they speak portuguese, not spanish :P
Anyways, I'm against the implementation of spanish if it'll result in localization of content and patches to be delayed. I don't think the game would gain many players by adding it, as most spanish-speaking people who would care about pay-to-play MMOs would have a grasp of English or such. Just see all of the spanish-speaking people in this thread making their voice heard in english to see my point.
No, I'm not a troll. No, I'm not flaming. I'm just stating the obvious.
Not everyone thinks it's obvious, including people who live in those countries. Please explain just how obvious this all is. People really should stop making generalizations about other countries.
Also, localization happens in tandem between the different languages. It doesn't go:
language1>language2>language3>language4
I would think one draft would be completed in a language (presumably Japanese, though perhaps English) and then translated at the same time to the other languages.
THEN in that case I want to see the Mongolian language >.>....!!! Otherwise I will rage quit!!! cuz that shiet ain't fair :P all language but mine !!!
Epic. Why don't we try to generalize an entire continent as poor and incapable of affording decent computers, thrash around and say that mutually-intelligible languages are different, overlook the point of an entire thread (which was not that the Spanish-speaking people want more Spanish-speaking people, but that the Spanish-speaking people want to be able to understand the lore--especially the poetic parts), and say that you're better than everyone else because THEY will cause YOUR patches to be delayed.
Gtfo.
He's right. I'm from Argentina and 90% of people can't afford a computer to play FFXIV, more now with politics that fuck everything. In the last 2 month PS3 games went from 75 USD to 98 USD, so think how it goes with PC.
Also, i'm sorry, i know you can find people from south america here on forums and inside the game but you can count with 2 hands.
Also, i don't know if people know about the auto translate thing on FFXI. It went full because PS2 limitations and can't add more. IDK how it's the "PS3 limitations" for auto translate on FFXIV but if a spanish translation reduce it too much i'll be against too.
Yea, i'm sleepy, my english isn't good and it's really worst if i'm tired xD.
Annd, at least for me, what Bayohne said sounds like a no for me lol.
