Because Honestly, going back to old AA bored the living P*ss out of me.
I was "almost" ready to go back to Quit status, until I hit Lv30, and had all 3 of them on my bar.

I don't know what archer gets, but most classes kept theirs. I think ONE of the four was converted into the auto-attack. (As a Gladiator, I lost Light Slash which which became my auto-attack. I still have Light Stab, Heavy Stab and Heavy Slash. As two of these are Guild Mark skills, I'm not sure how the balance patch will affect them.)

not only that, arc was meant to have high damage, considering we get more emnity-reducing skills/traits than every other class. At present, arc doesn't have enough of a damage curve to warrant ever using them, much less even setting them up, if you think being a bard will will help, that will kill our damage even more, seeing how we seem to be destined to become 14's version of 11's red mage: different name, still a glorified battery charger and nothing else.

First of all, Auto-Attack is not based on a toggle, you pull out your weapon and when you target something you attack.

Secondly, If you honestly think your going to be able to Auto-Attack and nock and arrow for a different skill, your delusional. Not only does that not make any sense, but all the Manual attacks are not on the list of skills for each class. Every Class gets 15 skills, they are all accounted for.

Finally, and most importantly, Knock is not on the list of skills. It has been removed from the game.

It's not a reasonable solution because Auto-Attack initiates when you target your opponent. That means, to stop attack you will have to Untarget the enemy, do whatever it is you need to do, then retarget your enemy to begin fighting again. The other solution is put away your weapon. The short time that either of those actions take will make you gimped as a Damage dealer. Your role will be officially be restricted to pulling and buffing.

Have you even considered what this is going to do to your ammo consumption? Or are you one of those people who thinks the magic infinite quiver should be implemented to?

I don't know how powerful your Archer is, but in 1.19 my Basic attack coupled with the nock ability is more than enough to put hate. Add on top of that the output from my Weapon Skills and it hard to keep hate off me. This hold true for every Archer I have partied with.

If the current level of damage is attached to the Auto Attack of an Archer, they will be hate pulling machines. If it is not, then one of two things happened. They made Archers do less Damage or they made Archers attack slower. Neither of these two options is worth having auto-attack. Especially when having the manual shot allow for a much more strategic fight. I prefer not watching my Character fight. I certainly do not want to go back to the painfully slow melee combat of FFXI.

Actually, that's not quite right. you can have your weapon drawn and your enemy targeted without initiating auto attack. It's only when you get the "three diamonds" shape that auto attack is initiated. As such, you can be attacking, then push ESC once to cease attacking without untargeting, then push Enter later to resume attacks. Though, to be fair, you can't even buff or anything without the circle turning into the diamonds, but buffs aren't consumed by auto attack, so the only thing you should have to worry about is bind/sleep being broken.

I didn't say from Light Shot plus Multishot plus Trifurcate. I said from Light Shot. You're talking about reducing the damage output (or slowing down) the ranged auto attack. The ranged auto attack is Light Shot. It's not Light Shot plus Trifurcate. It's not Light Shot plus Multishot. It's just Light Shot, plus something like Raging Strike. If that, by itself, pulls aggro, your tank is incompetent and needs to learn how to play his class. If you're going to keep trying to mix 1.19 abilities into your arguments for 1.20, you need to stop being disingenuous. . .

That's a good point I hadn't considered. So now, if you want to use a buff without attacking the enemy you have to Untarget the Enemy, Target yourself, lock in, use your buff, untarget yourself, target your enemy then perform whatever action you wanted. At least melee only have to back up..
